Abstract

AbstractIn the world of translation, translators can use a variety of strategies. One is the structural and semantic strategy. This research discusses the method of translation by using the structural and semantic strategy of Japanese folk literature translated by Antonius Pudjo. There are three basic strategies related to structural issues, namely addition, subtraction, and transposition. As for the semantic strategy there are 9 strategies: levy, cultural equivalent, descriptive equivalent and component analysis, synonym, official translation, depreciation and expansion, addition, deletion, and modulation. This research is qualitative descriptive research. Research data is the translation of the story "Donguri and Kucing Hitam" in which using the structural and semantic strategy in the process of translation. Technique of collecting data is using documentation technique of read-record. While the technique of data analysis is done by analyzing one by one each translation from source language, then analyzed whether using structural or semantic strategy, and classified by type. From the 14 sentences taken as data, it is known that on the structural strategy found transposition strategy 6 sentences, semantic strategy found semantic strategy of adding and synonyming each 5 sentences, deletion 4 sentences, modulation 2 sentence, and levy 1 sentences. Of the 7 sentences used as data in uncovering the implicit meaning contained in the folklore, it is known that there is 1 referential meaning, 2 meanings of linguistic context, and 4 situational meanings. Not too much data is obtained, because besides the source language has made the sentences clearly, chances are also the translator wants the reader to enjoy the literary works as the original form. Antonius translation is good and the language is accepted by target language. Dari segi peranan, sebagai cabang ilmu linguistik, pragmatik berkontribusi besar sebagai sumber obyek kajian penerjemahan—yang salah satunya adalah tindak tutur. Dalam hal fungsi, pragmatik merupakan alat atau media yang dapat dipergunakan untuk menyelesaikan kendala-kendala pragmatis dalam penerjemahan serta sarana untuk mengasah kompetensi seorang penerjemah dalam menerjemahkan. Dalam makalah ini, dijelaskan pula mengenai kaitan antara pragmatik dan penerjemahan yang dijembatani oleh makna.Kata kunci: pragmatik, makna, kontribusi, penerjemahan  AbstractThis paper presents pragmatics’s contribution to translation: its role and practical function. Based on its role, as one of linguistics branches, pragmatics has immensely contributed to the provision of the abundant objects of translation studies. From its practical function, pragmatics can be employed as an artifact to solve pragmatic constraints found in translation and as a medium for improving translator’s competence in translating. Jumlah penutur asing untuk mempelajari bahasa Indonesia meningkat. Besarnya minat penutur asing untuk mempelajari bahasa Indonesia tidak didampingi dengan buku teks yang selaras dengan keinginan penutur asing dalam mempelajari bahasa Indonesia. Buku teks yang tersedia silabus dan kurikulum BIPA tidak mencantumkan komponen budaya Indonesia. Mengenalkan multikulturalisme Indonesia kepada penutur asing juga dapat menumbuhkembangkan sikap positif dan apresiatif penutur asing terhadap kekayaan budaya Indonesia.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk nendeskripsikan kualitas Buku Teks BIPA Berbasis Multikulturalisme Bagi Penutur Asing Tingkat Pemula yang meliputi kevalidan, kepraktisan (aktivitas pembelajar, tanggapan pembelajar), serta hasil belajar pembelajar. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan yang menggunakan model pengembangan 4D. Model ini terdiri atas empat tahap pengembangan yaitu define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dampak yang baik terhadap nilai mahasiswa setelah pengembangan buku dilakukan.Kata kunci: buku teks, BIPA, multikulturalisme AbstractThe era of MEA (ASEAN Economic Community) Enactment has an impact on the development of Indonesian language for foreign speakers (BIPA). The number of foreign speakers learning Bahasa Indonesia is increasing. The high interest of foreign speakers for the Indonesian is not supported by necessary textbooks as speaker's expectation in learning Bahasa Indonesia.  The BIPA syllabus and curriculum textbooks do not include the Indonesian cultural component. Introducing Indonesian multiculturalism to learn the enrichness of Indonesian culture. The purpose of this study is to describe the quality of BIPA Textbook Multiculturalism Based for Beginner Level Speakers. This book includes validity, practices (learner activities and feedbacks), and leraner’s learning result. This research applies 4D development model. It consists of four stages of development that is define, design, develop, and disseminate. The result shows that the development of BIPA text book has a good impact.Keywords: textbook, BIPA, multiculturalism

Vibry Andina NurhidayahIAIN PontianakVibry_AN @yahoo.com AbstrakDalam menerjemahkan puisi seorang penerjemah harus mampu menyampaikan isi dan makna yang ada didalam bahasa sumber, Menerjemahkan puisi tergolong penerjemahan tersulit karena dalam prosesnya, sedapat mungkin dipertahankan suasana batin dari karya itu (mood, tone). Pada saat yang sama, penerjemah harus mencari padanan atas bentuk formal puisi itu sendiri secara tepat, misalnya jumlah baris (terutama untuk jenis sonnet), rhyme (persajakan) dan syllable (jumlah suku kata). Untuk menjaga supaya wajar, perpindahan isi dan pesan (content, message) puisi tetapharus dibawa. Semua kualifikasi ini sangat ditentukan oleh kepekaan seorang penerjemah-sastrawan.Kata kunci: karya sastra, puisi, terjemahan  AbstractOn the translation of poetry, a translator must be able to deliver content and meaning in the source language. Translating poetry classified as the hardest translation because of the process must be able to keep inner mood from its creation (mood, tone). At the same time, a translator must find the equivalent of right formal poetry, for example amount of line (especially kinds of sonnet), rhyme and amount of syllable. Besides, displacement content and message of poetry must keep it reasonable. These qualifications determined by sensitivity of a translator-writer.    Keywords: literary work, poetry, translation

Since this novel discussed about the domination of factions in the novel as delineation in social class or social life and struggle of the factions in society, this novel was analyzed using Marxism theory. The method used was descriptive qualitative to explain the kinds of factions and the struggles of the factions considered as social classes to get the power in society. Thus, this novel was analyzed using the theory Marxism which focused on the kinds of factions the struggles the factions done. The data were in the form of utterances in Divergent novel written by veronica Roth. The result of the research showed that factions in the novel depicted the social class in society as there are powerless and powerful faction group.They are categorized as bourgeois or capitalism and proletarian. Therefore, the researcher classified the events in the novel related to factions which were similar to social classes. The faction of Abnegation and Erudite are the same as the bourgeois or capitalism because they often oppress the weak and always want to control all factions with the wealth and power they have. On the other hand, Dauntless, Amity and Candor are the same as the proletarian because they are oppressed factions which have no power in society. The factions did some efforts or struggles to maintain or to get the power in society. It can be concluded that this novel uncovered the life of social class which was represented by faction and the struggles done in terms of getting the power and surviving the life.Keywords: marxism, social class, faction, Divergent  AbstrakNovel Divergent bercerita tentang faksi dalam masyarakat. Karena novel banyak membahas tentang faksi sebagai gambaran dalam suatu kelas sosial atau kehidupan sosial dan perjuangan masing-masing faksi dalam masyarakat, maka novel ini dianalisis menggunakan teori Marxisme. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif untuk menjelaskan jenis-jenis faksi dan perjuangan faksi-faksi yang dianggap sebagai kelas sosial untuk mendapatkan kekuasaan dalam masyarakat. Dengan demikian, novel ini dianalisis menggunakan teori Marxisme yang fokus pada jenis-jenis faksi dan perjuangan yang dilakukan. Data penelitian berupa pernyataan/ujaran dalam novel Divergent yang ditulis oleh veronica Roth. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faksi-faksi dalam novel tersebut menggambarkan kelas sosial dalam masyarakat karena ada kelompok faksi yang lemah dan kuat. Mereka dikategorikan sebagai borjuis atau kapitalisme dan proletar. Oleh karena itu, peneliti mengklasifikasikan peristiwa-peristiwa dalam novel yang berkaitan dengan faksi-faksi yang mirip dengan kelas-kelas sosial. Faksi Abnegation dan Erudite memiliki kesamaan dengan borjuis atau kapitalisme karena mereka sering menindas yang lemah dan selalu ingin mengendalikan semua faksi dengan kekayaan dan kekusaanyang dimiliki. Di sisi lain, Dauntless, Amity and Candor sama dengan proletar karena mereka adalah faksi tertindas yang tidak memiliki kekuasaan dan kekuatan dalam masyarakat. Faksi-faksi melakukan beberapa upaya atau perjuangan untuk mempertahankan atau mendapatkan kekuasaan di masyarakat. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa novel ini mengungkap kehidupan kelas sosial yang diwakili oleh faksi dan perjuangan yang dilakukan dalam hal mendapatkan kekuasaan dan bertahan hidup.Kata kunci: marxisme, kelas social, faksi, Divergent

His ideas of several new writing styles were publicly known and were able to inspire many poets in this world. The new ideas of writing styles including lowercase writing on a few subjects, lack of commas, full stops, spaces, and also parentheses which are placed on the wrong spots. All of those things are manifested on the one of his great poems, titled [i carry your heart with me (I carry it in]. Even though several persons called the ideas as “peculiar ideas,” but the poet, made those peculiar ideas and also the deep sentences inside as the media to analyze this poem until it was able to be understood and discussed as literary subject. The phonological level analysis used sound devices understanding and semantics analysis which recommended by Fromkin, Rodman, & Hyams (2011: 148), used figure of speech recognizing; are maximally optimized in this work in order to serve the appropriate result as it is hoped, to be one of learning media in the literary discussion.   Keywords: Edward Estlin Cummings, phonological level analysis, grammatical level  AbstractEdward Estlin Cummings (1894-1962) merupakan orang yang terkenal dalam dunia sastra. Ide-idenya tentang gaya penulisan baru telah dikenal publik dan mampu menginspirasi banyak penyair di dunia, termasuk penulisan huruf kecil pada beberapa subjek, kurangnya koma, berhenti penuh, spasi, dan juga tanda kurung yang ditempatkan di tempat yang salah. Semua hal itu atertuang dalam puisinya yang berjudul (I carry your heart with me). Meskipun beberapa orang menyebut ide sebagai "ide yang aneh," tetapi dia mampu menuangkan ide tersebut dalam bait- bait puisi yang mendalam dari segi analisis tingkat fonologis berdasarkan suara dan analisis semantik yang direkomendasikan oleh Fromkin, Rodman, & Hyams (2011: 148). Selain itu, pengenalan kata- kata kiasan digunakan secara optimal sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran dalam diskusi sastra.Kata kunci: Edward Estlin Cummings, analisis tingkat fonologi, level gramatikal

Abstract

This paper is ground by the presence of novel Pararaton as a new form of text Pararaton. The problem in this paper is how the Pararaton text is perceived into a novel form. This paper aims to explain the novel differences with the classic Pararaton texts and to show an inversion in the form of a novel that is adapted according to the horizon of today's readers' expectations. To address this problem, this paper uses Hans Robert Jauss' reception theory and phenomenology methods. This paper shows some analysis results.  First, the novel Pararaton shows richer with narrative detailing than the Pararaton text. Secondly, Novel Pararaton also shows the creation of the depiction of Ken Arok, Ken Dedes, and Tunggul Ametung. The creations relate to the expectations horizon of today's society. Third, Pararaton's novel as a reflection of Pararatonic classical texts, figures or characterizations, story settings, and grooves. Fourth, the novel Pararaton presented with a full ethical narrative in describing the characters Tunggul Ametung and Ken Arok.Key word: novel Pararaton, reception, the expectation horizon, inversion

Abstract

Abstrak Analisis struktural digunakan oleh penulis dalam menganalisis cerpen Yabu no Naka dengan jalan memisahkan unsur-unsur pembentuk cerpen yaitu: tokoh dan penokohan, alur, latar dan pelataran, tema, dan amanat. Dialog-dialog yang dilakukan antar tokoh menyebabkan perwatakan masing-masing tokoh dapat terungkap lebih jelas. Pengaluran dalam cerpen Yabu no Naka menggunakan alur flashback (regresif) dan ada konflik yang terjadi yang berhubungan dengan tokoh utama dan tokoh tambahan serta ada hubungan kausalitas antara peristiwa yang satu dengan peristiwa yang lain. Latar utama dalam cerpen Yabu no Naka ini adalah Yamashina, sebuah kota di Prefektur Kyoto. Tema utama dalam cerpen Yabu no Naka ini adalah pembunuhan dan pembenaran.Kata kunci: analisis struktural, regresif, alur  Abstract Structural analysis is used by the writer in analyzing the short story of Yabu no Naka by separating the forming elements of short stories, namely: character and characterization, plot, background and court, theme, and date. Dialogues made between characters cause the character of each character can be revealed more clearly. The distribution in the short story of Yabu no Naka uses the flashback (regressive) flow and there is a conflict that occurs related to the main character and additional characters and there is a causal relationship between one event and another. The main setting in the short story of Yabu no Naka is Yamashina, a city in Kyoto Prefecture. The main theme in this short story of Yabu no Naka is murder and justification.Keyword: structural analysis, regressive, plot

Abstract

This research aims to find out and describe type of error employed by students in translating english text into indonesian text. The author used qualitative research approach to describe type of translation The step of the data analysis consists of 1) recognition; 2) description; 3) explanation; 4) evaluation and 5) correction. From the result of the research, there were 284 errors employed by students from 3 study programs. Based on the taxonomy of perfomation category, it was found that there were 4 types of errors employed by the students of State Polytechnic of Cilacap, i.e., omission 33 data (11,61%), addition 15 data (5,28%), misformation 197 data (69,36%) and misordering 39 data (13,73%). From the findings, it can be concluded that Electrical Engineering students often did errorsin translating, especially misformation. Keywords : word, phrase, clause, translation, error analysis

Abstract

AbstractThis project aims to give an analysis of the signs of confrontation in terms of postmodernism strategies by Brian McHale experienced by the main character in Gwendolyn Willow Wilson’s Alif The Unseen. Besides, the researcher analyzed the novel used the theory by Jean Francois Lyotard and Fredrich Jameson to describe the main character’s reaction toward ontological confrontation in postmodern society used in the novel. This article is qualitative research which used the Postmodernism studies to understand one of the strategies to show the ontological confrontations in the novel. This article elaborated some ontological confrontations in postmodernism including confrontation between the fiction and the historical realemes, the fusion between two worlds, and also polyglot. Meanwhile, this article also classified the main character’s reaction toward the ontological confrontation in 5 reactions: refusal reaction, skeptical reaction, curiousity reaction, surprise reaction, and acceptance reaction. It can be concluded that Alif as the part of Postmodern society must recognized the jinn creatures around him as the hacker who has the high ability and dependency of the technology.Keywords: Confrontation, Alif The Unseen, Postmodernism AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan analisis terhadap tanda-tanda konfrontasi dalam hal strategi postmodernisme oleh Brian McHale yang dialami oleh tokoh utama dalam Alif The Unseen karya Gwendolyn Willow Wilson. Selain itu, peneliti menganalisis novel menggunakan teori oleh Jean Francois Lyotard dan Fredrich Jameson untuk menggambarkan reaksi karakter utama terhadap konfrontasi ontologis dalam masyarakat postmodern yang digunakan dalam novel. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan studi Postmodernisme untuk memahami salah satu strategi untuk menunjukkan konfrontasi ontologis dalam novel. Artikel ini menguraikan beberapa konfrontasi ontologis dalam postmodernisme termasuk konfrontasi antara fiksi dan kenyataan sejarah, fusi antara dua dunia, dan juga polyglot. Sementara itu, artikel ini juga mengklasifikasikan reaksi karakter utama terhadap konfrontasi ontologis dalam 5 reaksi: reaksi penolakan, reaksi skeptis, reaksi rasa ingin tahu, reaksi kejutan, dan reaksi penerimaan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa Alif sebagai bagian dari masyarakat Postmodern harus mengakui makhluk jin di sekitarnya sebagai peretas yang memiliki kemampuan tinggi dan ketergantungan teknologi.Kata kunci: Konfrontasi, Alif The Unseen, Postmodernisme
