Abstract

This research studies about the use of social communication process in encouraging public policy on HIV/AIDS prevention in Pangandaran, West Java, Indonesia. It is a qualitative research with action research as the method. The result indicates the existence of social communication form such as direct social communication, social communication using mass media, and functional social communication involving elements of social communication. The social communication process is seen through the coordination of local government with several related agencies and foundations who care about HIV/AIDS. This encourages Local Government of Pangandaran in determining local regulation on HIV/AIDS prevention in Pangandaran tourism area.

Abstract

Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) memunculkan fenomena distraksi sebagai gangguan yang dialami para pengguna internet. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk meneliti tentang distraksi pada para pekerja ketika berinteraksi dan bekerja menggunakan internet. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa para pekerja tersebut mengakses banyak informasi di luar kebutuhannya karena adanya proses clicking reflex. Namun demikian, para pekerja tetap menikmati semua distraksi yang datang hingga waktu beraktivitas habis tanpa disadari. Belakangan diketahui bahwa distraksi ini juga disebabkan oleh terbatasnya kerja otak manusia dalam menerima banyaknya informasi yang tersedia.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze representations of romantic-sexual kissing in Indonesian fiction films, those are Ada Apa dengan Cinta? (2001) and Ada Apa dengan Cinta? 2 (2016). This study uses the kissing concept of Linda Williams (2008) which links the presence of kisses to the terminology of romanticism and sexuality and Willem Frijhoff’s (2014) shape and type of kissing that influence the meaning of kisses. The kissing scenes in both films was identified by Roland Barthes’s semiotics method. The results of the study indicate that those two films contain romantic-sexual kissing that further strengthens romantic and sexual ideologies.

Abstract

Online credibility, either for a company or a merchant, is an important thing that have to be considered in the era of e-commerce development. Online review and online rating are part of indicators that used to represent merchant or seller’s online credibility in e-commerce platform. The existence of online review and online rating in e-commerce platform may affect the prominence and interpretation aspects which is associated with online credibility. This is a conceptual paper which aims to describe the concept of online review and its relation with online credibility.

Abstract

This research investigates the ways in which different groups of media users have different tendencies in consuming and believing fake news. These tendencies are examined through: (1) analysis of association of age and income level with the pattern of media consumption; (2) analysis of association of age and income level with types of media that is perceived as the most trustworthy. Using systematic random sampling, this study examines 400 households in Semarang, Central Java, with level of confidence of 95%.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to have empirical evidence of using social media, positive and negative impacts in the social and economic fields. A total of 179 respondents accounting students at one private university in Yogyakarta. Data had collected by questionnaire. Furthermore, the data had analyzed qualitatively by using descriptive statistics and item analysis. The implications are useful for digital dependent to be wise in using social media and aware of the positive and negative impacts. In addition, for companies and providers useful to analyze for the utilization of economic and social potential of social media.

Industrial society in madiun city contribute in supporting of Madiun city branding. This proved by the participate position in implementation and utilization of results. Madiun industrial society show the competitive value to global society that usually earn achievement from the exhibition that helds from many various events.  This competitive value is suitable with creation of Madiun city branding as 'Kota Gadis' which combinate from three education aspects. Abstract

Popularitas penggunaan media sosial di masyarakat telah mengubah lanskap industri media secara signifikan. Media sosial memungkinkan penggunanya menjadi produsen konten di berbagai topik, termasuk informasi hiburan (infotainment). Infotainment yang mulanya lebih dikenal dalam bentuk siaran program televisi atau tertulis di majalah/tabloid hiburan bertransformasi dalam bentuk baru di media sosial, sebagaimana tergambar dalam akun Instagram @lambe_turah. Dengan menggunakan metode etnografi virtual sebagai pendekatannya, kajian ini bertujuan untuk memahami aktivitas serta sentimen pesan yang disampaikan netizen terhadap konten yang diunggah akun @lambe_turah. Selain itu, kajian ini juga bertujuan untuk melihat peran netizen dalam proses transmisi informasi tersebut.

Abstract

The implementation of One Village One Product (OVOP) program in Indonesia refersto the economic development of one village with one main product from the villagers’ creativity. Naga traditional village is one of traditional villages producing handicraft from natural resources. The use of ICT for promoting and marketing faces obstacles related to ICT adoption and digital readiness of the villagers. Case study method was deployed through in-depth interviews to five key informants. Based on the diffusion of innovation theory, the result shows the ICT adoption is in early majority level and their digital readiness is in the unprepared group

Abstract

 This study discusses the news of Gunung Agung disaster in Balipost.com from the aspect of journalism ethics and disaster journalism. Disaster journalism is required to report disaster objectively, though media cannot be separated from business goals. Ethnographic content analysis is conducted as research method. The result shows that Balipost.com has applied the principle of journalism code of ethics and the principles of disaster journalism. The news tend not to use indepth reporting, which is less thorough, lack of direct observation results, but it averts the violation of ethics.
