Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan praktikalitas materi ajar Basic English Grammar Berbasis Multimedia Interaktif yang telah dikembangkan dan dapat diakses melalui http://thetiarina.com/e-tiarina/. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif dengan melibatkan 3 orang mahasiswa untuk uji individu dan 27 orang mahasiswa untuk uji kelompok kecil. Temuan penelitian ini adalah (1) berdasarkan uji individu, kualitas desain pembelajaran dan tampilan visual Materi Ajar Basic Grammar tergolong baik (85,47 dan 83,33, dan; (2) berdasarkan uji kelompok kecil, kualitas desain pembelajaran dan tampilan visual draft Materi Ajar Basic Grammar juga tergolong baik (84,26 dan 87,85), materi ajar ini mudah digunakan (81,64) dan organisasi materi ajar ini mudah dipahami (80,35).

Abstract

Pengembangan RPS secara langsung berkaitan dengan analisis standar kompetensi yang ingin dicapai, metode pengajaran, dan evaluasi pembelajarannya. Berdasarkan hal itu, target-target khusus yang ingin dicapai oleh penelitian ini meliputi dua hal. Kedua tujuan tersebut adalah (i) merumuskan capaian pembelajaran bahasa Inggris lulusan yang didasarkan pada analisis kebutuhan dan analisis objektif kemahiran bahasa Inggris masukan dan (ii) mendesain materi pembelajaran untuk memenuhi capaian pembelajaran yang telah dirumuskan. Secara umum metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian pengembangan Gall, Gall, dan Borg (2003) dan Van den Akker, Gravemeijer, McKenney, dan Nieven (2006). Sementara itu, pendekatan yang akan diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah perpaduan antara pendekatan ADDIE dari Branch (2009) dengan pendekatan sistem dari Dick, Carey, dan Carey (2009). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan bahasa Inggris yang ditunjukkan oleh pemangku kepentingan harus diadaptasi tingkatannya. Adaptasi tersebut didasarkan atas kompetensi masukan yang belum memenuhi standar untuk dimasukkan ke tahap ESP secara murni. Oleh karena itu, desain RPS pembelajaran ESP dilakukan tetap dengan mempertimbangkan hal-hal terkait dengan kompetensi bahasa Inggris umum masukannya.

Abstract

Penerjemahan dalam ruang lingkup bahasa memiliki peran penting bagi peradaban dunia. Penerjemahan merupakan proses penggantian teks suatu bahasa ke dalam bahasa lain (Catford, 1965). Penelitian ini menganalisis verba berpreposisi sebagai salah satu kolokasi dalam bahasa Arab untuk diteliti bentuk verba yang jatuh sebagai idiom dan non-idiom dan mendeskripsikan kecenderungan penerjemahannya pada  novel terjemahan Alfu Lailah wa Lailah karya Fuad Syaifuddin Nur . Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis konten. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dari 43 data ditemukan  56 verba berpreposisi, 2 verba berpreposisi idiom dan 54 verba berpreposisi non-idiom. Adapun dari kecenderungan penerjemahan, ditemukan 22 penerjemahan setia, 7 penerjemahan semantis, 1 penerjemahan idiomatik, dan 13 penerjemahan komunikatif.

Abstract

Artikel ini mendeskripsikan praktik budaya sistem penamaan masyarakat Manggarai (MM). MM tersebut mendiami tiga kabupaten yang terletak di ujung barat Pulau Flores, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia. Sistem penamaan MM tersebut adalah cara memberikan nama kepada seseorang dalam realisasi bahasa yang didasari oleh imajeri budaya MM. Aspek yang hendak dicari dalam system penamaan tersebut adalah simbol verbal dalam realisasi fitur linguistik nama Manggarai (NM) dan imajeri budaya MM yang mendasari eksistensinya. Teori linguistik kebudayaan (TLK) digunakan sebagai panduan untuk menganalisis data yang diperoleh melalui pengamatan, pencatatan, dan wawancara silsilah NM dari dua klen yang bisa menjadi representasi system penamaan MM. Sebagai sebuah studi dalam perpektif TLK, ditemukan simbol verbal fitur-fitur NM dan imajeri budaya MM yang mendasari munculnya fitur-fitur NM tersebut. Berkaitan dengan simbol verbal, ditemukan tujuh fitur NM. (1) NM anak kandung tidak sama dengan NM orangtuanya. (2) NM anak laki-laki berasonansi vokal sama dengan NM ayah, kakek, dll. (3) NM anak perempuan berasonansi vokal sama dengan NM ibu, nenek, dll. (4) Namun tidak semua anak laki-laki memiliki NM yang berasonansi vokal sama dengan NM ayah, kakek, dll., demikian juga tidak semua anak perempuan memiliki NM yang berasonansi vokal sama dengan NM ibu, nenek, dll. (5) NM seorang anak bisa saja persis sama dengan NM kakeknya, buyutnya karena mereka sudah meninggal. (6) Secara tradisi, MM memiliki satu unit nama, yaitu NM yang terdiri atas satu atau dua suku kata tertutup maupun terbuka. Setelah kedatangan agama modern MM memiliki dua unit nama untuk satu orang. (7) Sudah terjadi dinamika dalam system penamaan MM dalam hal jenis dan jumlah unit NM. Semua fitur NM tersebut didasari oleh imajeri budaya MM tentang sebuah NM. Praktik budaya system penamaan tersebut merupakan kearifan lokal yang hendaknya direvitalisasi dan dilestarikan untuk kehidupan harmonis MM

Abstract

As a metropolitan city, Jakarta is growing rapidly both physically and demographically. Jakarta's socio-economic dynamics also show significant developments over time. In an essay titled Tiada Ojek di Paris, Seno Gumira Ajidarma discusses Jakarta as an urban space that is filled with modern human problems. This paper aims to show the intertextuality that exists in the collection of essays, as well as the intertextuality resulting from the mention of various other texts in the work. Lucien Goldmann's genetic structuralism approach, Julia Kristeva's intertextuality theory, and the concept of the production of space from Henri Lefebvre are used as analytical frameworks. Analysis of the text structure shows the identification of Jakarta as a problematic urban space and close to everyday life reality. This was told by the narrator as well as the focalizer from an academic perspective, according to the background of the author who is a writer as well as an academic. The intertextual relations that are built from a series of texts that exist in Tiada Ojek di Paris represent the reflection, criticism, and dominant discourse that produces social spaces in urban Jakarta. Meanwhile, the intertextuality that results from the mention of various other texts in the anthology of essays confirms the position of the writer as a writer and academic in constructing arguments.

Abstract

Based on the observation and interviews with Arabic Language students, it was founded that one of their lack of knowledge is about the meanings of conditions for the words that related to the verb, even this term is odd to them. The importance of this research lies in the introduction of the condition meanings for the words that related to the verb in a sentence. This study aims to find out the meaning of condition meanings for the words that related to the verb in The Koran Surah Yasin. This search uses a descriptive method of the content analysis model The verses of the Surah Yasin are the main source or primary data in this study while additional or secondary data in this study are books and journals. The results found that there were 40 words with 4 types of condition meanings for the words that related to the verb with details of 14 words discarding the subject (11 known meanings and 3 unknown meanings), 13 words discarding object (4 words explain the vague, 5 words occupying position intransitive verb because there is no connection  with established, 3 words guarding rhyme, and a word summarizing), 2 words prioritizing object (specializing and ruling out object), and 11 words prioritizing circumstance and jar majrur (6 words specializing, 4 words keeping rhyme, and a word occupies the denial position).

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution Era 4.0 requires students to think creatively and critically in order to practice independent thinking. These requirements are contrary to Indonesian language learning for students of Informatics and Computer Engineering FKIP Dehasen University Bengkulu. This development research aims to develop an effective project-based Indonesian learning model so that learning is more meaningful. Development with three steps of work and data collection by observation, interview and questionnaire. Data analysis techniques are qualitative and quantitative. The results showed that 1) the implementation of the learning model "in accordance" aspects of learning with the category of "good", the average result of the 96% observation count. 2) Student activities in "active" learning with observational results of 90%. 3) Student responses are positive or "agree" about the practicality of the project learning model with the results of the questionnaire count 83%. The project-based Indonesian learning model is effectively used for Indonesian language courses at FKIP Dehasen University Bengkulu through limited trials with an effectiveness calculation result of 93%.

Abstract

Dendang is one of the oral folklores of Bengkulu city. This study aims to describe dendang Tepuk Tari in the marriage customs of Bengkulu city, the form, function, and values. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method using recording techniques, interviews, listening, and taking notes and the Snowball sampling technique. The main data in this study are the chanting poems taken from the video footage that was sung and equipped with the results of interviews with several informants. This traditional dance is filled with the performance of seven traditional dances accompanied by Bengkulu traditional music and rhymes. The rhyme used consists of: 1) regular rhyme, and 2) talibun. The functions of the dendang are as; 1) entertainment facilities, 2) community identity, 3) social criticism, and 4) educational facilities, and it contains the values of: 1) philosophical, 2) religion, and 3) sociological.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe what the Deathly Hallows symbolized in J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”. This was a qualitative content analysis with hermeneutic approach. The primary data was from the novel of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The results of this research were the Deathly Hallows symbolized the thirst of the greatest power which could make the owner immortal, but for Harry Potter they symbolized a test, which tested his mission to defeat Voldemort. The Hallows themselves consisted of three objects which were the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Invisibility Cloak. Each of the Hallows also symbolized different things. The Elder Wand symbolized a wizard’s desire for power, the Resurrection Stone symbolized deep longing towards the loved one who had died, and the Invisibility Cloak symbolized protection.

Abstract

 Today there are so many learning strategies to support teaching and learning activities. One of the learning strategies that can be applied in writing skills is Task Based Language Learning. This research aims to measure the level of student mastery of descriptive text writing skills before and after the use of Task Based Language Learning strategies; measure the effectiveness of the implementation of Task Based Language Learning, and; obtain information about the implementation of Task Based Language Learning. The method used in this research was a pre-experimental. Meanwhile, the research design was one group pre-test and post-test design. The research findings explained that the use of Task Based Language Learning can improve students’s descriptive text writing skills. This is proven by an increase in the average value obtained by students. The average score in the pre-test was 60.8 while the post-test average score increased by 74.88. Then based on the overall questionnaire data analysis, the application of this learning strategy contributed positively to the learning of descriptive French writing skills.
