Abstract

This research aims to describe student’s writing ability before and after using Jigsaw model, the effectiveness of Jigsaw model in improving writing skills, and the opinion of students. This study applies descriptive quantitative method in form of pre-experimental design. Instruments that are used in the form of tests and questionnaires. The sample of this research is 32 characteristics writing skill of 6th  semester French Education students. Based on the research result, the researcher can conclude that the students have been able to write the argumentative text nicely. The test result showed that the average test score after using the Jigsaw model is 8.9. It means, the average posttest score is higher than the average pretest score, up to 1.7%. Meanwhile, the results of the questionnaire show that students like writing but they find so much difficulty in making a writing or a text, and most students give a positive impression for the Jigsaw model.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the condition of students' writing abilities that are still low. One method that is considered appropriate is the PAKEM model by positioning students as junior journalists. The research method that I use is a quasi-experimental research method with a quantitative approach. The quantitative approach is used to obtain a picture of the ability of students to write reports on interviews through the technique of 'Becoming a Junior Reporter'. In addition, this study also uses a qualitative approach to describe the profile data of students' ability to write reports on the results of interviews through the technique of 'Becoming a Junior Journalist' before the learning approach to writing through the 'Becoming a Junior Journalist' technique is applied. The 'Become a Junior Journalist' technique is effective for improving students' ability to write reports based on an increase in the average pretest score of 57.47 to 78.50 on the average posttest score. Meanwhile, the final average value of the control class was 57.00 in the pretest and increased by 68.78 on the average posttest score. There was a difference in gain of 21.03 in the experimental group and 11.78 in the control group. This proves that writing ability can be improved with the PAKEM model through junior journalist techniques.

Abstract

The Myth of Tidar Mountain is one of oral literature that flourishing around people of Magelang, Middle Java. This research aimes to describe religiosity in The Myth of Tidar Mountain with review of literary anthropology. The data source of this research came from myth that flourishing around the people. The data collecting method was done by two phase which is library research and continued with field research. Descriptive analytic method was used to analyzed the data that have been collected. The result of this research shows the correlation between religion and local people culture, especially Javanese culture. The correlation of both is reflected in Syababiyah tradition, Ruqyah, Correlation between Kyai Semar in Myth of Tidar Mountain with Semar in puppet show, and symbol or culture sites in Tidar Mountain.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to find out the similarities and differences in the form of speaking dialect intonation of Sirna Resmi tradisional society of Sukabumi Regency which is spoken by parents and young people. This study is conducted qualitatively with identification and classification in the form of Sundanese intonation of conversation dialect. Participants are two people with the age level of young (36 years old) and parents (69 years old). Data is collected by interview and record notes. Analysis of conversational dialect data is based on phonological theory of intonance referred to Katamba (1996). The first data is found with a number of intonations of conversational dialects from young people (36 years old) totaling 30 conversation sentences. From the data found three types of categories, namely; First intonation of downdrift tones is found in 2 types. Second, the tone of the downstep is found in 10 types. Third, the tone upstep is found in 18 types. In the second data, it was found that conversational dialect sentences of parents (69 years) amounted to 30 sentences of parents as elders in the Sinar Resmi village indigenous people. From the data that found three types of categories, namely; 1) Intonation of downdrift tones found 10 types. 2) Intonation of downstep tone found 11 types. 3) Intonation of upstep tones found 9 types.

Abstract

This study aims to find reference grammatical cohesion forms used to construct narrative discourse. This research method is a descriptive method with qualitative research. Based on the results of data analysis it was found that the reference grammatical forms of cohesion found in the March 2015 edition of Kompas Sunday's short story collection included personal, demonstrative, and comparative references. The persona reference found is person reference I consists of aku, saya, ku-, -ku, kita, and kami. The persona II reference consists of kamu, kau, -mu, and kalian. As well as reference persona III consists of ia, dia, -nya, beliau, and mereka. The demonstrative form of grammatical cohesion is found in kini, sekarang, saat ini, kala itu, dulu, siang itu, sore itu, hari itu, hari ini, di sana, di sini, ke sana, ke mana, sana, ini, and itu. As well, a comparative form of grammatical cohesion found is seperti.

Abstract

Children with special needs are still considered troublesome children for some people, this child has physical and mental limitations and an abnormal mindset like other children, so this makes them marginalized. Whereas the history of human life actually revelas that many Children with special needs have advantages, works of art produced by children have high values, so it needs support and encouragement from the people closest to be able develop their talents.  Research on children ia focused on creativity and enthusiasm by using qualitative research methods to describe the overall abilities that Children with special needs can realize with detailed descriptions.The research objective is to describe the potential of children through musical drama, in musical drama not only singing but also collaborating dubbing, dancing, music, and acting as well as being holistic, able to show all the abilities of children in on appearance. The results showed taht musical drama is able to make Children with special needs more sensitive to their environment, because the stimulation of the implementation of musical drama exercises results in changes in body movements and emotions of children while learning musical drama is very influential on creativity and antusiasm anak berkebutuhan khusus.

Abstract

Newspaper headlines have different characteristics to daily or ordinary sentences. They are constructed in such a way to make the readers interested to read the whole news articles. As a result, the syntax for headlines is different. The omission of some parts of the sentences in the headlines are one of the strategies held by the writers to construct effiecient and effective headlines due to the limited space given. Therefore, this qualitative study aims to highlight the syntactical structures of headlines, and also to explain the functions of the words found in the headlines using Lexical Functional Grammar (LFG). In the analysis, LFG has two structures; c-structure and f-structure. C-structure is represented by X-bar in the form of tree diagram, while f-structure is represented by a matrix and followed by a lexical entry. The findings show that there are several characteristics of several famous Indonesian online newspaper headlines which can be a generic structure of a headline. The use of X-COMP, X-ADJ, and OBLθ tends often to occur in the Indonesian headlines. By implementing these functions, it can be a strategy for the writers in generating catchy and efficient headlines.

Abstract

One of the problems in foreign language learning is interference, a rearrangement of patterns resulting from the presence of foreign elements in the language domain (Weinreich, 2010). This research shows how and why phonemic interference of /s/ and /∫/ phonemes occur from Indonesian and English although both phonemes exist in all three languages. Some interference begins from lexeme and then to phonemic level. Other faults are overregularization which is the application of regular grammatical patterns to irregular cases. This seems to support the Logical Problem of Language Acquisition which states that a student cannot correct his/her mistakes without explicit feedback from the linguistic environment (Pinker, 2004).The results of this research indicate that foreign language learning requires knowledge of non-structural elements that are outside of the language, not only following phonological, syntactic, morphological, or lexical rules (structural elements). For example, students' foreign language knowledge and cultural content in teaching materials.

Abstract

Ratu Kalinyamat merupakan seorang pemimpin di kerajaan Jepara. Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk kekuatan perempuan bernama Ratu Kalinyamat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Pendeskripsian meliputi catatan tentang bentuk-bentuk kekuatan tokoh perempuan dalam novel Ratu Kalinyamat karya Murtadho Hadi. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah  novel Ratu Kalinyamat karya Murtadho Hadi. Data yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini berupa hasil telaah dokumen novel Ratu Kalinyamat karya Murtadho Hadi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik noninteraktif. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis interaktif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah penggambaran tokoh Ratu Kalinyamat yang mempunyai kekuatan, baik itu kekuatan secara fisik maupun kekuatan non fisik. Secara fisik, tokoh Ratu Kalinyamat dapat digambarkan melalui kekuatan dalam menguasai ilmu silat untuk menumpas kejahatan dan ketidakadilan yang dialami oleh rakyat. Kekuatan non fisik Ratu Kalinyamat digambarkan melalui tindakan-tindakan yang dilakukannya, antara lain (1) kekuatan untuk menentukan pendamping hidup sendiri, (2) kekuatan memendam ego perasaan, (3) kekuatan berkomunikasi dengan orang lain, dan (4) kekuatan untuk menjadi pemimpin.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah masih lemahnya keterampilan berbicara mahasiswa dalam bahasa Sunda. Untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dalam bahasa Sunda dapat dipelajari secara khusus dalam perkuliahan Monolog. Salah satu teknik dalam pembelajaran berbicara yang digunakan dalam perkuliahan Monolog adalah teknik berpidato. Sekaitan dengan latar belakang tersebut tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan mahasiswa dalam berbicara setelah menggunakan teknik berpidato. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Metode penelitiannya menggunakan metode deskriptif analitik. Teknik pengumpulan datanya menggunakan teknik tes. Data yang diolah adalah skor tes kemampuan berbicara responden sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan teknik berpidato. Aspek-aspek kemampuan berbicara yang dinilai  meliputi 1) struktur isi pembicaraan, 2) ekspresi, 3) bahasa yang digunakan, dan 4) kesesuaian antara topik dengan isi pembicaraan. Adapun yang menjadi respondennya adalah mahasiswa Departemen Pendidikan Bahasa Sunda FPBS UPI Semester IV Angkatan 2018 yang sedang mengikuti perkuliahan Monolog.    Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa sebelum menggunakan teknik berpidato (pre-test) masih rendah rata-rata 3.03 dan sesudah menggunakan teknik berpidato (post-test) meningkat rata-rata 3,45. Diperoleh peningkatan kemampuan berbicara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan teknik berpidato sebesar 0,42.
