JURNAL PENDIDIKAN BAHASA DAN SASTRA (Journal of Language and Literature Education) is published by Faculty of Language and Literature Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Abstract

Fokus penelitian ini adalah implementasi gerakan literasi sekolah di Jawa Barat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu medode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Adapun teknik pengumpulan datanya yaitu teknik angket. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket yang disebar secara daring. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada umumnya implementasi gerakan literasi sekolah di Jawa Barat sudah berjalan, namun belum optimal. Dari 333 sekolah yang dijadikan sampel penelitian ini di Jawa Barat, hanya 49 sekolah saja yang siswanya mengalami peningkatan prestasi akademik secara signifikan. Di 139 sekolah hanya terjadi pada sebagian besar siswa saja yang mengalami peningkatan akademis, dan di 121 sekolah terjadi peningkatan prestasi pada sebagian kecil siswa saja, bahkan di 24 sekolah menyatakan belum terjadi peningkatan akademik. Adapun hambatan pada kegiatan literasi di sekolah di antaranya kurangnya dukungan dari pemangku kebijakan; keterbatasan sarana dan prasarana; kurangnya motivasi, kesadaran, dan minat siswa; pembiasaan kegiatan literasi yang sangat minim; faktor budaya di lingkungan keluarga dan masyarakat yang kurang mendukung; kurangnya pemahaman terhadap literasi; kurangnya monitoring dan evaluasi dari pemangku kebijakan; minimnya pendanaan untuk kegiatan literasi.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas bentuk-bentuk multikulturalisme yang digambarkan para tokoh dalam novel Pulang karya Leila S. Chudori, Dimas Suryo. Pulang pertama kali diterbitkan pada tahun 2012 dan kini telah diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Inggris dan Prancis. Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan mencari makna di balik bentuk-bentuk multikulturalisme yang terdapat dalam novel Pulang dengan menafsirkan  data dan menyajikannya dalam bentuk desktiptif. Dari hasil penelitian dapat diungkapkan bahwa Bentuk-bentuk multikulturalisme yang terdapat dalam  Pulang merupakan kebiasaan-kebiasaan dan perilaku-perilaku  yang dapat dilihat dan dilakukan sehari-hari. Meskipun berada di Paris, Dimas, Nugraha, Risjaf, dan Tjai tetap tidak meninggalkan budaya-budaya Indonesia.

Abstract

Penyusunan bahan pengayaan cerita rakyat berguna untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi serta membentuk pengalaman apresiasi sastra bagi pemelajar BIPA. Namun, untuk merancang bahan pengayaan yang sesuai, perlu diadakan kegiatan pendahuluan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan agar bahan pengayaan yang dirancang dapat diterima dengan baik oleh pengguna di lapangan. Penelitian ini merupakan analisis kebutuhan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Eksplorasi kebutuhan bahan pengayaan teks cerita rakyat diperoleh melalui wawancara kepada tiga pengajar BIPA tingkat menengah, angket kebutuhan untuk pemelajar BIPA, dan analisis dokumen bahan pengayaan cerita rakyat pada laman BIPA daring Kemendikbud. Hasilnya, seluruh pengajar memerlukan adanya penyusunan bahan pengayaan cerita rakyat untuk meningkatkan kemampuan apresiasi sastra dan literasi budaya bagi pemelajar BIPA tingkat menengah. Selanjutnya, penyesuaian konten dan bentuk penyajian perlu dilakukan sebagai inovasi pada bahan pengayaan cerita rakyat bagi pemelajar BIPA berupa muatan, atau pengetahuan yang memiliki nilai kearifan lokal, nilai pariwisata, nilai sosial dan lain sebagainya.

Abstract

Fokus penelitian ini berkenaan dengan kualitas model penilaian keterampilan menulis bahasa Sunda di SMP di Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Penelitian ini bertujuan  mengembangkan perangkat penilaian keterampilan menulis bahasa Sunda akan memberikan informasi bagi sekolah, baik dari segi isi, cakupan, format maupun waktu penyampaian serta bermanfaat secara optimal bagi pembelajaran bahasa Sunda. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan dengan menggunakan jenis penelitian Research and Development  yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat model penilaian keterampilan menulis bahasa Sunda pada jenjang sekolah menengah pertama (SMP)). Temuan penelitian ini adalah (1) perangkat penilaian keterampilan menulis layak digunakan sebagai instrumen penilaian keterampilan keterampilan menulis di SMP karena  memiliki (a) kejelasan petunjuk penilaian, (b) kejelasan materi yang dinilai dengan alat penilaian, (c) penggunaan bahasa yang komunikatif dan baku, (c) penggunaan tata tulis yang benar. Berdasarkan hasil uji-coba, secara statistik menunjukkan bahwa  tes keterampilan menulis ada kesesuaian  dengan data lapangan , yakni (P-value = 0, 72541 0,05; RMSEA = 0,000 0,05; GFI = 1,70 0,9; AGFI = 1,43 0,9; PGFI = 1,37 0,9) menunjukkan bahwa ke- 23 perangkat tes keterampilan menulis  adalah baik dan layak digunakan. Kesesuaian perangkat tes keterampilan menulis  dengan data lapangan (P-value = 0, 72541 0,05; RMSEA = 0,000 0,05; GFI = 1,70 0,9; AGFI = 1,43 0,9; PGFI = 1,37 0,9) menunjukkan bahwa model Perangkat Tes Keterampilan menulis Bahasa Sunda adalah fit layak digunakan sebagai instrumen penilaian di SMP Kabupaten Bandung Barat.

Abstract

The ability to communicate in the classroom is an essential point for teachers to convey lessons material well. Some experts state that communication is a form of verbal and nonverbal language. This study analyzes how pre-service teachers prepare to become professional English teachers in teaching English as a foreign language. By using two different theories, Brown (2007) and Hall (1959), the researchers investigate the extent to which pre-service teachers use verbal and non-verbal language in the practice of teaching English to elementary students. In collecting data, researchers conducted observations and interviews to research subjects. The researchers then analyzed the data in several stages and made conclusions. In a nutshell, all pre-service teachers with different levels, low and competent, use verbal and nonverbal language during their teaching practice. However, they have different academic contributions to their performance in teaching English to young learners.

Abstract

Benny Arnas' short stories need to be studied to reveal knowledge about the representation of humanism and the value of environmental love. Currently, the symptoms of dhumanization and environmental damage are increasing, so it is necessary to strengthen humanism and the character of loving the environment. This strengthening can be done with the media of literary works, one of which is short stories. The research was conducted on the short stories by Benny Arnas which were published in the Sunday newspaper and documented on the live play page. Through the ecological sasatra approach in Benny Arnas' short stories, it can be seen that certain short stories present a form of the value of love for the environment which is shown through the act of preserving nature, beauty and cleanliness. The characters shown in the short stories have human values that are shown through their wisdom towards fellow humans and the natural environment.

Abstract

The writing skill and sociocultural cannot be separated. Many previous study had been conducted to analyze the sociocultural and the writing skill. However, most of them were in foreign country. It is extremely still rare undertaking the study of local sociocultural in Indonesia which was integrated with English writing skill. Therefore, this paper aimed at exploring and discussing the integrations between the local sociocultural in Indonesia and English writing skill. This paper applied a library research method by obtaining data through reseach articles, journal, book and so forth. It presented the overviews of sociocultural and writing skill, the delineations of sociocultural in the pedagogical aspect, the sociocultural paradigms in Indonesia context, pedagogy challenge toward the use of local sociocultural in Indonesia for writing, and integrating the local sociocultural and English writing skill. The steps of integrations between the local sociocultural and English writing skill are that (1) instructors teachs what their social values (attitude, norms, moral, etc) and what their cultural delineations (traditions, arts, historical building, etc) to learners, (2) the writing strategy is taught by instructors in terms of planning, drafting, editing and final product, (3) instructors reqiure students to write their own written text. The virtual media can be utilized at all of those steps. Further discussion in the future is needed among experts in education, linguist and curriculum maker to design and achieve the fruitful goals.

Abstract

This research is designed to be qualitative research with morphological approach, relying on the abbreviation theory as one of word formation process. Abbreviation is a shortening of the language term that occurs with the shortening of the lexeme. Any form of the abbreviation could be found in everyday life, especially in every daily national online news. Nevertheless, rests of the people only know the lexical meaning or contexts of every abbreviation that occur, without understanding how the abbreviations were arranged in linguistic point of view. The aim of this research is to describe the process of establishing abbreviation in every national online news with topics related to Covid-19. Abreviations related to covid-19 were the crucial object for this research. The method used is a method of listening and recording for data retrieval from national online news, and relying on Kridalaksana (2010)’s abbreviation theory and the General Guidelines for Spelling Bahasa Indonesia for the research analysis approach. The results suggest a form of abreviation in the form of abbreviations and contractions related to the Covid-19 pandemic. Shorthand abbreviation form found in this research were PPKM (Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan Masyarakat), PSBB (Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar), OTG (Orang Tanpa Gejala), AKB (Adaptasi Kebiasaan Baru), and PJJ (Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh). Meanwhile, the forms of abreviation in the form of contractions are Satgas(Satuan Tugas), Prokes (Protokol Kesehatan) and Isoman (Isolasi Mandri).

Abstract

Polysemy includes linguistic forms that have multiple interrelated meanings. Polysemy was chosen as the research theme, intended to find the meaning variations of verb gada, the cause of polysemy verb gada, and the meaning relationship of polysemy verb gada. The present research departs from the difficulty of interpreting verb gada, based on the context. This research applied a qualitative approach with a descriptive research methods. Then the sentences containing the verb gada from a novel entitled “Saseoham Baeksiphoeui Upyeonmul” written by Lee Do Woo were the data set. The data collection was carried out using documentation method with observation and note taking techniques. After the data have been collected, the analysis was carried out using content analysis method. The results showed that there are different meanings of the verb gada outside the basic meaning according to the context of the sentence, which is categorized as the extended meaning. The discovery of the extended meaning then shows  polysemy of verb gada which is caused by several factors: shift of usage, figurative, specialization of meaning, and euphemism. The proof that the meanings found are polysemy of verb gada was marked by the presence of metaphor, which showed the relationship of similarity, and metonymy, which showed the relationship of contiguity.

Abstract

A legend is a folk story whose events are considered to have really happened. The characters in the story are believed to have lived in the past and the places where the events occurred can be referred to in real life. Events, characters, and places considered important by the community will be immortalized by the community to become legends. Those legends are told by people from generation to generation to deliver the knowledge they have. Related to that, this research was motivated by the existence of sacred tomb on Mount Batu, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency. The story about Mount Batu sacred tomb is believed by the local community as a legend. This research described the narrative structure of the legend, the context of the story, and the function of the legend for the native through the perspective of folklore. The results of the study show that the legend of Mount Batu sacred tomb is closely related to the knowledge system of the community, especially regarding the disaster mitigation system. The legend was delivered from generation to generation to warn the surrounding community about the threatening disaster in the area which is included in the Lembang Fault area.
