Abstract

The Koran covers mathematics in detail, especially multiplication and calculating numbers in various situations and circumstances. Mathematics as the queen of science has an important role as a means of translating concepts in science. so science and mathematics are interconnected and related. Science and mathematics are connected to the verses of the Qur'an. The verses in the Qur'an as the source of everything include technology, science, economics and provide the meaning that all branches of knowledge can be sought for truth from their source in the Qur'an. The method used in this journal uses qualitative research methods with the type of research being literature study. An example of a mathematical concept that has a correlation with the source of the Al-Qur'an is regarding the mathematical concept in the implementation of tawaf, namely when the congregation circles the Kaaba to form a flat circular shape. Abstract

Culture and mathematics are two things that are interrelated, but most people do not realize that they have linked mathematics to their habits and culture. Banyumas is an area in Central Java that has many cultures, and one of these cultures is Banyumasan batik. Banyumasan batik is very famous in Banyumas because it is used by local people as traditional clothing and is even worn by employees on certain days. However, the use of Banyumasan batik is limited to clothing and has not been used in learning, even though the learning material could be more interesting. The aim of this research is to reveal mathematical elements, especially geometric transformations in Banyumasan batik. An ethnographic approach was used in this research, and data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, documents, and ethnographic notes. Data analysis is based on the meaning and translation of the phenomena found, as well as the informants' understanding of these phenomena and their original language, which is combined verbally with the researcher's language after in-depth understanding through group discussions. The research results show that Banyumasan batik contains geometric transformation elements that can be used in mathematics learning. Keywords: Banyumasan Batik, Culture, Geometry Transformation, Math

Abstract

There is a big difference between the mathematics problems taught in school and the mathematics that exists in society. As a result, educators face difficulties in modeling formal mathematical concepts with mathematical problems that occur in everyday life. By connecting mathematics learning with culture it will help the learning process. This will make it easier for educators to understand the topics being studied because they are relevant to everyday life. The aim of this research is to explore the concept of geometry in the Muhammad Cheng Hoo Purbalingga mosque. Data collection methods use interviews, observation and documentation. The camera is the tools and materials used. The data presentation is given in the form of images, along with a description of the ethnomathematics values that exist in the mosque. This research shows that the Muhammad Cheng Hoo Mosque in Purbalingga combines three cultural elements, namely Chinese, Arabic and Javanese. The results of this research show that the Muhammad Cheng Hoo mosque contains geometric elements, namely flat shapes, spatial shapes and transformations. This research is recommended for use as mathematics learning material. Keywords: Mathematics, Ethnomathematics, Muhammad Cheng Hoo Mosque

Abstract

This paper presents the development of Markowitz's classic Mean-Variance (MV) portfolio model, namely the Mean-Variance-Skewness-Kurtosis (MVSK) portfolio model. The MVSK portfolio model aims to overcome the fact that most stock returns in the capital market do not follow a normal distribution, and there are skewness and excessive kurtosis. The solution of the MVSK portfolio model is determined using the Newton-Raphson method. To see the advantages of the MVSK model, an empirical study was carried out on a portfolio construction using the four best stocks on the Indonesian Stock Exchange, which are included in the LQ45 index group for February-July 2023. The empirical study shows that for risk aversion   the performance of portfolios formed using the MVSK model outperforms portfolios formed using the classical MV model, while for risk aversion   the performance of portfolios formed using the classic MV model outperforms portfolios formed using the MVSK model. In addition, it was also found that for risk aversion , the weight and performance of the portfolio formed using the MVSK model were close to the weight and performance of the portfolio formed using the classic MV model. Keywods: portofolio, return, risk, portfolio performance, MVSK.

Abstract

The low achivement of students in mathematics is often caused by a lack of innovation and variety implemented by teachers in the use of teaching models and media. As a result, students become bored with learning mathematics, and their learning outcomes decline. Additionally, students’ understanding of mathematical concepts remains insufficient. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the Numbered Head Together (NHT) teaching model supported by animated video media on mathematics learning outcomes, specifically in the topic of whole number operations in garde IV at SD Negeri 6 Bulungan, and to test the difference in learning outcomes before and after using the NHT model. This research uses a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental design of the One Group Pretest-Posttest type. The sample consist of 15 students. The result show Tcount = 7,946 and Ttable = 2,144 at α = 0,05. Based on the criterion Tcount > Ttable, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Additionally, descriptive analysis shows that the average pretest score of students was 59,00 which increased to 78,33 in the posttest. Therefore, the use of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) teaching model supported by animated video media is effective for elementary school students mathematics learning outcomes.
