The discussion on the feminism approach to interprete Alqurâan and Bible attempts to discover verses that state about gender meanstream. Basically, the verses on gender mention that there are difference between man and woman biologically. This difference aims to make man and woman is able to complete each other so that they are able to live together peacefull and, lovely. However, dignity value between man and woman is the same. The distinction among human beings is seen from the quality of their obedience but it can not be viewed from their gender. Thus, religion rejects all type of gender descriminations.

The high frequency use of phone- cell and short message service has produced various forms of new words. These words create such variation of language that needs to be interpreted. This is so because the results of abbreviations tend to go beyond grafology, syntax, and may produce psycholinguistic impacts. The fact that the creativity of the language users are very expressive and subjective it frequently breaks the linguistic aspects. These inappropriate words which is caused by irregular abbreviation seems so serious that writing instruction of Indonesian at school must be reconsidered. The phenomenon suggests that one can easily find studentsâ writing which are not understood, there have been so many illogical sentences, and ineffective language. Therefore, school teachers have to work hard to rearrange studentsâ activity so that their writing skills may achieve the appropriate level based on the patterns of effective sentences.Copyright © 2013 by Al-Talim All right reservedDOI: 10.15548/jt.v20i3.45

The existence of religious science and general science has been the long discourse that reduced the scientific world. The separation of these two sciences, often refers to as science dichotomy, has brought about serious implication not only to institutions and facilities, but also the main resources of these two branches. More serious implication of the separation of these two sciences has also created the gaps particularly on the superiority of the general science. This unhealthy and lack of objective view to religious science may not be taken for granted; comprehensive explanations of scientific resources, scientific method, and the historical existence of the two branches should be explored to reshape it in a strong unity and complementary.

Among the main characteristics of good Muslims, based on the Quran, is good behavior or conduct (akhlaq). It is a basic Islamic teaching that must be understood, internalized, and practiced in daily lives either personally or in society. It is said that akhlaq is like an endless sea. It cannot be separated with the other dimensions; it is in accord with thoughts, action and words, between commanding and keeping away of something. A Muslim counselor has to have Islamic conduct as reflected in Godâs characters, as well as character and conducts of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The role of listening skills in EFL learning is very crucial not only for academic purpose but also for daily communication. In university level, especially at STKIP Abdi Pendidikan Payakumbuh, students are exposed to listening I until listening III. In academic year 2012-2013, however, students were taught through Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and TOEIC to upgrade their critical listening skills. After several treatment or actions, I found out that studentsâ listening skills improved from 61.2 (in the pretest) to 73.5 (post-test). It seemed that both TOEIC and TOEFL exercise have attracted the studentsâ mind that in the second cycle their enthusiasm increased surprisingly.Copyright © 2013 by Al-Talim All right reservedDOI: 10.15548/jt.v20i3.49

Character education is a positive offer in the eradication of moral crises which particularly emerged in our students. Therefore, the internalization of values of character education in the educational institution is a must. As an Islamic education institution in Indonesia, the existence of Boarding school is considered to be able to develop values of character education which may be done through formal or non-formal curriculum. This is so because since its early existence, Boarding school has delineated its distinctive feature which is different from the other common types of education. Here, the implementation of character values have been integrated (within large portion) in the religious subjects.Copyright © 2013 by Al-Talim All right reservedDOI: 10.15548/jt.v20i3.41
