Abstract

Indonesia is a pluralistic nation characterized by diversity of religions, cultures, languages, traditions, and social views. This diversity is a national strength, but it can also give rise to conflict, radicalism, and intolerance if not accompanied by the ability to understand and appreciate differences. This study aims to analyze the urgency and strategies for disseminating peace education in educational institutions as an effort to counter radicalism and intolerance among students. The study uses a qualitative approach, employing a literature review of scientific journals, books, official websites, and other relevant sources. The analysis focuses on the concept of peace education, the characteristics of radicalism and intolerance, and strategies for its implementation in educational environments. The results of the study indicate that peace education can be a strategic approach in building a culture of peace by strengthening tolerance, respect for human rights, communication, cooperation, non-violent conflict resolution, and respect for diversity. The dissemination of peace education needs to be carried out systematically through schools, madrasahs, universities, Islamic boarding schools, and community education spaces by involving interfaith dialogue, social solidarity activities, multicultural education, and the cultivation of inclusive attitudes. From an Islamic perspective, this strategy can be developed through the principles of wisdom, al-mau'izah al-hasanah, and al-mujadalah billati hiya ahsan as contained in QS. An-Nahl, verse 125. The program evaluation framework can include objectives, indicators, verification, assessment, and follow-up. Thus, the dissemination of peace education not only functions as an instrument for preventing radicalism and intolerance but also as a means of forming a young generation that is tolerant, inclusive, humanistic, and capable of becoming agents of peace in social, national, and religious life.

Abstract

This qualitative study examines how the management of differentiated instruction enhances speech-writing skills among elementary school students at SD Negeri Lemburtengah and SD Negeri Sriwidari 1. Guided by George R. Terry’s POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) framework, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that systematic management of differentiation—encompassing content, process, and product—significantly improves students' abilities regarding speech structure, vocabulary selection, and the logical development of ideas. Despite challenges such as limited instructional time and varying levels of student readiness, the management of differentiated instruction successfully fosters an inclusive and adaptive environment, thereby optimizing writing skill outcomes at the elementary school level.

Abstract

As a nation rich in religious and cultural diversity, Indonesia faces challenges in maintaining interfaith harmony, particularly among the younger generation. Adolescents—the group most vulnerable to the influence of radicalization—require a moderate understanding of religion to prevent potential social conflict. With its large youth population, Bekasi Regency serves as a strategic location for implementing religious moderation to foster a more inclusive and tolerant religious understanding. This study aims to explore the role of religious moderation in enhancing religious understanding among adolescents in Bekasi Regency and to analyze the factors influencing the application of religious moderation in their daily lives. A qualitative approach utilizing a case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and focus group discussions with adolescents from diverse religious and social backgrounds in Bekasi Regency. Purposive sampling was used to obtain in-depth insights into perceptions and practices regarding religious moderation among the youth. The findings indicate that adolescents in Bekasi Regency tend to possess a moderate religious understanding when they participate in religious activities that promote tolerance and inclusivity. Religious education emphasizing values of religious moderation has proven effective in reducing radical attitudes and strengthening interfaith relations among adolescents. The study concludes that religious moderation is key to fostering a more inclusive and tolerant religious understanding among young people. Consequently, efforts to integrate religious moderation into religious education and activities in Bekasi Regency can enhance social harmony among adolescents. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of more moderate religious education, particularly for the youth. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for policymakers and educators in designing curricula that promote religious moderation at the local level.

Abstract

Assessment in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a crucial role in assessing students' learning outcomes comprehensively, encompassing the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. However, practice is still dominated by conventional testing models that emphasize knowledge, while under-emphasizing the spiritual and moral dimensions. This study aims to analyze assessment models in PAI—test, non-test, and authentic—and to review their relevance to the concept of fitrah-based education. This study uses a qualitative approach through a literature review of various theories and previous research findings. The results indicate that the test model is effective in measuring cognitive abilities, the non-test model assesses religious attitudes and character, while the authentic model is the most comprehensive form of assessment because it assesses the integration of knowledge, attitudes, and skills in a real-world context. From the perspective of fitrah-based education, these three models need to be integrated to assess human potential as a whole: intellect, heart, and deeds. Fitrah-based assessment requires teachers to not only measure learning outcomes but also guide students to develop according to their fitrah as beings who know, love, and serve Allah SWT. Thus, integrating the three assessment models is a strategic step toward realizing a holistic, humanistic, and spiritual PAI evaluation system.

Abstract

The multicultural reality in Indonesian society presents increasingly complex challenges for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) education, especially in the aspects of pedagogy, teacher identity, and social engagement. The conventional approach to PAI learning tends to emphasize the normative transmission of religious teachings but has not fully addressed the social, cultural, and ethical dynamics that arise in a pluralistic society. This article aims to reconsider the future of multicultural PAI education through the conceptual framework of Islamic teacherpreneurship, by positioning teachers not only as transmitters of religious knowledge, but also as pedagogical innovators, value creators, and agents of social change. This study uses a qualitative approach with a type of critical literature study. Data were obtained from academic books, articles from reputable national and international journals, as well as policy documents relevant to Islamic education and multiculturalism. Data analysis was carried out through thematic analysis to identify, classify, and synthesize key themes related to multicultural pedagogy, teacher professionalism and identity, and social engagement in the context of PAI education. The results of the study show that Islamic teacherpreneurship can serve as a transformative pedagogical framework that allows PAI teachers to integrate Islamic values, multicultural sensitivity, and creative innovation in responding to contemporary educational challenges. This approach also contributes to the reconstruction of the identity of PAI teachers and the strengthening of the social role of teachers in diverse societies. This article makes a conceptual contribution to the development of Islamic education by offering an integrative framework for reorienting multicultural PAI education in the midst of the process of social transformation.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of maqāṣid al-sharī'ah into Islamic economic governance within pesantren, focusing on business-unit management as a means to promote community welfare. Four dimensions are explored: normative foundations from fiqh mu'āmalah and maqāṣid; implementation of business management; legal-institutional challenges; and development of a sustainable governance model. Using a descriptive qualitative multi-case study design, four pesantren in West Java were examined: MA Darul Ulum PUI Talaga (Majalengka), MA Al-Urwatul Wutsqo (Indramayu), MA Husnul Khotimah (Kuningan), and MA Madinnatun Najah (Cirebon). Data from documents, interviews, and observations were analyzed thematically using maqāṣid and sharī'ah governance principles. Findings reveal that while maqāṣid values—justice, public benefit, sustainability, prudence, and resource protection—are evident in practice, they remain insufficiently institutionalized within systematic governance frameworks. Key limitations include weak legal arrangements, standardized procedures, financial reporting, supervision, and accountability. The study proposes an integrated governance framework linking fiqh mu'āmalah, maqāṣid al-sharī'ah, and sharī'ah governance to enhance legal certainty, accountability, professional management, and sustainable economic development. This contributes to Islamic economic law by offering a contextual model to strengthen pesantren's economic independence and social impact in Indonesia.

Abstract

Debates about profit sharing ratios in Islamic banking often give rise to perceptions of inequality among customers, especially when the proportion of ratios received by banks is greater than that of customers. This perception is often understood as a form of injustice, without considering the normative framework of fiqh muamalah and the rationality of risk management in Islamic banking institutions. This article aims to analyze the concept of the profit sharing ratio of Islamic banks from the perspective of fiqh muamalah, explain the rationality of its determination based on the responsibility and risk of bank institutions, and critically examine the perception of customer inequality that develops in public discourse. This study uses a literature research method with a normative-analytical approach. Data were obtained from the fiqh muamalah book, fatwa of the National Sharī’ah Council, Islamic banking regulations, and academic literature relevant to risk management and economic justice. The analysis is carried out through a systematic examination of the concepts, principles, and normative arguments related to the mudhārabah contract. The results show that the difference in profit sharing ratio has a strong basis for legitimacy in fiqh muamalah, as long as it is determined on the basis of tarāḍī and reflects the proportion of responsibilities and risks borne by the parties. A larger ratio to banks can be understood as a consequence of the fund management function, the protection of third-party funds, and the institutional obligations of Islamic banks. Thus, customer perception of inequality is more appropriately understood as a problem of normative understanding and justice construction, not as an inherent injustice in the Islamic banking profit-sharing system.

Abstract

The development of Indonesia’s New Capital City (Ibu Kota Nusantara/IKN) requires an urban governance framework that extends beyond technocratic efficiency to incorporate social justice, ethical spatial order, and long-term civilizational sustainability. Within Islamic intellectual tradition, urban governance is not articulated as a standalone technical discipline but is embedded in classical works on political jurisprudence (fiqh al-siyāsah), hisbah, public finance, and theories of civilization. This study aims to examine the foundational principles of urban governance in Islamic civilization as articulated in classical Islamic texts and to assess their relevance to the contemporary development of IKN. Employing a qualitative, library-based methodology with a historical, conceptual and normative-analytical approach, the study analyzes key texts, including al-Aḥkām al-Sulṭāniyyah by al-Māwardī and Abū Yaʿlā, Nihāyat al-Rutbah by Ibn al-Shayzarī, Maʿālim al-Qurbah by Ibn al-Ukhuwwah and al-Muqaddimah by Ibn Khaldūn. The findings indicate that Islamic urban governance is grounded in principles of social justice, protection of public interest (maṣlaḥah ʿāmmah), orderly management of public spaces, and ethical supervision through the institution of hisbah. Cities are conceptualized as centers of civilization where economic, social, and moral dimensions must remain in balance. These principles demonstrate strong conceptual relevance to the development of IKN, particularly in relation to public space management, urban economic regulation, housing affordability, and the protection of vulnerable groups. The study argues that integrating Islamic urban governance values can enrich the normative framework of IKN development, ensuring that the new capital evolves not only as a sustainable physical environment but also as a socially just and ethically grounded urban civilization.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an integrative model that combines the Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah framework with the conventional 3A (Attraction, Accessibility, Amenity) tourism model for mosque tourism development. The core concept of mosque tourism is redefined beyond the lens of mere commercial spectacle or visual consumption, repositioning the mosque as a sacred civilizational space where spirituality, education, and communal welfare intersect. Using a qualitative research design grounded in conceptual documentary and textual inquiry into normative scriptures and regional policy frameworks, the spatial scope of this inquiry is contextualized within West Java, Indonesia—a region rich in Islamic cultural heritage. The primary findings reveal that the integration of the five essential Maqāṣid dimensions (preservation of faith, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth) radically operationalizes the 3A framework: Attraction is re-envisioned as spiritual pedagogy, Amenity is re-defined as holistic etic hospitality rooted in ḥalāl-ṭayyib values, and Accessibility is re-contextualized as a moral commitment to socio-economic justice and physical equity. The major challenge identified is the persistent methodological vacuum in translating abstract Islamic ethics into practical tools for destination management amid the growing threat of digital commodification. Consequently, this study recommends a multi-stakeholder collaborative governance model that subordinates industrial logic to the sacred sanctity of religious spaces. This research significantly advances Islamic tourism scholarship by establishing an operational, value-based destination management framework that bridges the dichotomy between normative religious philosophy and practical management efficiency, offering a robust model for sustainable and spiritually respectful tourism.

Abstract

Islamic higher education institutions face an enduring epistemological challenge: the dichotomy between modern scientific knowledge, Islamic revealed knowledge, and local cultural heritage. This tension undermines the holistic formation of graduates who are simultaneously intellectually competent, spiritually grounded, and culturally rooted. This article develops a conceptual framework for Science-Islam-Culture Integrated Learning Management (SIC-ILM) in Islamic higher education, based on a critical synthesis of relevant literature spanning learning management, Islamic educational philosophy, science integration, and cultural pedagogy. A systematic thematic literature review was conducted using reputable international journals, academic books, and policy documents sourced from Scopus-indexed, SINTA-ranked, and peer-reviewed repositories. Thematic synthesis was employed to identify recurring patterns, conceptual gaps, and theoretical convergences. Five core dimensions emerged: (1) tawhidic epistemological foundations, (2) science-Islam integration processes, (3) cultural-contextual mediation, (4) management functions (planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling), and (5) transformative educational outcomes. These dimensions are mutually reinforcing and constitute the SIC-ILM Framework. The proposed framework offers a generic, adaptable model for designing, managing, and evaluating integrated learning systems in Islamic higher education, providing a theoretical basis for future empirical research and practical curriculum development.
