Abstract

The background of this study was the students’ less adequate cognitive abilities.. This study was a quantitative research on the students’ cognitive abilitiesat garde V SDN Kebaharan 1 Kota Serang in the odd semester of the academic year 2020/2021. The methodof this study was a nonequivalent control group design, on the complete sentence learning model. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences of the students’ cognitive learning outcomes after implementing the complete sentence learning model in social science (IPS) subject for grade V. The material was about theme 1: animals and humans organs of motion, subtheme 3: the environment and its benefits, learning 4 at SDN Kebaharan 1 Serang City. The method of this study was a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sampling technique was carried out by using a purposive sampling technique. The samples were 30 students at VA class as the control class and 30 students at VB as the experimental class. The results of the data calculation obtained from the students’ post-test, it was found that the students in the experimental class and the control class possessed different cognitive abilities. The average test score for the experimental class was 79.7 and the average test score for the control class was 71.9. From this result, it can be concluded that complete sentence model is better than the concept sentence model because the complete sentence model involves students in groups to discuss the right key answer to complete the incomplete paragraphs. The results and discussion of this study revealed that the complete sentence learning model can be used for social science learning since it can increase students' cognitive abilities in a social science subject.

Abstract

This study aimed to re-analyze the effect of scramble learning model to improve students’ learning outcomes at elementary schools. Scramble learning model refers to a game of arranging the scrambled words and letters in order to form a certain meaningful word. Scramble learning can train students to be creative to arrange random words and sentences in order. This study utilized a meta-analysis method. At the first stage, the researcher formulated the problem, then, sought the existing and relevant research to be analyzed. The technique of data collection in this study was a non-test, namely the documentary analysis method, by searching for electronic journals on Google Scholar with the criteria of comparative journals or articles. There were 11 articles that fulfilled the criteria for this research. The results of the journal analysis indicated that scramble learning model could improve the students' cognitive learning outcomes. This was proved by the average difference of the results of the pre-test and post-test which was 24.9. To strengthen the results, these data were tested by IBM SPSS statistical program 16 for windows with a paired sample T-test. Based on the result of this test, it was revealed that H1 was accepted which implied that the scramble learning model had an effect on students’ learning outcomes with the value of sig 0.00 <0.05.

Abstract

This study aimed to provide a general description of children song lyrics analysis and to describe the implementation of children songs in thematic learning at grades I - III of elementary school. This was a content analysis study that utilized qualitative approach. The data analysis technique consisted of: 1) collecting data; 2) selecting samples; 3) recording; 4) reducing; 5) making conclusions; and 6) narrating. The results of this study revealed that: 1) children songs had the benefit of conveying messages in a fun way; 2) in this analysis, one song out of eight songs contained the character values that did not match the 18 characters taught to students; 3) there were a lot of good character values in children songs, for example religious, honest, responsibility, discipline, independent, care for the environment, work hard, and care for others. Those character must be instilled for elementary school students, especially for students of grade I to III; 4) children songs could be implemented in thematic learning either to start the learning, as a learning material or as an example in giving assignments to students.

Abstract

Two mathematical mindsets are two of four mathematical mindsets integrated into the technique of writing observation report text. The four mathematical mindsets are included as one of the latest writing techniques that were invented by Ayu Utami. This research aimed to determine the influence of two mathematical mindsets on the students’ skill of writing observation report text at grade 4 of SDN Dukuh Menanggal 1 Surabaya. This research utilized a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental posttest-only design. The samples in this research were 4A students as the control team and 4B students as the experiment team. The result of t-test demonstrated that the score of t-count was 9.860 while the score of t-table was 2.0262 at the significance level = 5%  and the degree of freedom = 37. This indicated that t- count (10.794) > t-table (2.0262), so that the hypothesis was accepted. The conclusion of the research was two mathematical mindsets technique significantly influenced the students’ skill of writing observation report text at grade 4 of SDN Dukuh Menanggal 1 Surabaya.

Abstract

Literacy is not only the responsibility of formal education institutions. One form of education in society is a community library. This study aimed to describe the roles and problems faced by community library forums in enhancing literacy culture. The subject in this study was a community reading garden as a part of a community library forum. Data were collected in Kabupaten Lombok Tengah. This study applied a qualitative research design with a case study approach. Data collection was conducted through surveys, observation, and in-depth interviews. Then, the data were presented in the form of tables, diagrams, and word descriptions. The researchers extended the observation time in order to achieve the validity of findings. The main problems found in this study included: what are the challenges faced by community library forums? What is the role of the community library forum in enhancing the literacy culture of children in Lombok Tengah? The results revealed that the challenges faced by community library forums included problems of regeneration, inadequate facilities, lack of book collections, low literacy culture, and non-optimal support from the government. The role of libraries in enhancing literacy culture was as a facilitator, motivator, creator, and pioneer of the literacy movement in rural areas. With the presence of the community library, the children felt more excited about reading.

Abstract

Students need speaking skill when they are in front of the class to express their opinions. However, many students are still not confident to speak. This research objective was to see whether the students who were taught by PjBL model had better speaking skill than the students who were taught by cooperative learning model. This research was quasi-quantitative experimental research with Posttest-Only Control design. The population of this research were the fifth-grade students at SDN Gayungan II Surabaya. The samples were chosen by using cluster random sampling technique and class V-A was selected as the experiment class and class V-B was chosen as the control class. The data were collected through tests, observation, and documentation. The data derived from the tests were analyzed by using inferential statistics with SPSS software. Then, the data from students’ activities and the learning implementation were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the students who were taught by PJBL  model significantly had better speaking skill than the students who were taught by cooperative learning model.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of principals’ leadership style on the teacher's performance at public elementary schools in Kecamatan Soromandi, Kabupaten Bima. The research utilized a quantitative approach. The population in this study were 128 elementary school teachers in Kecamatan Soromandi, Kabupaten Bima. From the population, 50 teachers were taken as the samples by using probability sampling techniques. The data were collected through a questionnaire. The assumption test was the normality and linearity test while the hypotheses were examined by using simple regression analysis. The results of this study concluded that the Leadership Style Dominantly Performed by Principals at Public Elementary Schools in Kecamatan Soromandi, Kabupaten Bima was Democratic Leadership Style with a score of 67.43%, in a strong correlation and Transactional Leadership Style was in a low correlation with a score of 32.57%.  Meanwhile, the teachers’ performance at public elementary schools in Kecamatan Soromandi, Kabupaten Bima was in a strong correlation with a score of 60.54%. Furthermore, the Principals’ Leadership Style Affected the Teachers’ Performance at Public Elementary Schools in Kecamatan Soromandi, Kabupaten Bima which was shown by a value of 63.90% with a significance of 0.00 <0.05. The score of the influence of principals’ leadership style on teachers’ performance was 63.90% and was strongly correlated.

Abstract

The development of learning resources such as the art textbook based on local wisdom in Kabupaten Jombang was conducted by referring to the Borg dan Gall model. After that, media experts, material experts,and the students examined its feasibility. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of the art textbooks based on local wisdom in Kabupaten Jombang from some expert views. This study employed a descriptive qualitative research method.The data were collected by using participatory observation methods and the field trials in order to determine the usefulness of the product. The data from the expert validations and students were analyzed by using the Likert scale calculation criteria. After that, the data were analyzed by converting the total score of the test results into a percentage form. Then, it was converted into qualitative data by using the product feasibility score interpretation guidelines. The data were used as a reference for product improvement. The average score obtained from material experts were 77%; the score from media experts was 95%;and the result of trial for the large group of students was 85.3%. Finally, the overall average score was 86.47%. Based on the score interpretation, the product was in a very suitable category to be used as the main learning resource.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the improvement of the mathematical problem-solving ability between students who utilized Discourse Multy Representation model with Kelubang Tarif media and students who applied the expository model. This study was a quasi-experimental study conducted at one of the elementary schools in Kudus. The population of the study were all four grade students in an elementary school in Kabupaten Kudus. The samples were two classes which were selected by using a purposive sampling technique. This study utilized a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The instrument of this study was a test in order to know the students' mathematical problem-solving abilities through descriptive quantitative analysis techniques. The data were tested by using N-Gain test. The results of this study showed that there was a difference in the improvement of the mathematical problem-solving ability between students who learned by implementing Discourse Multy Representation model with Kelubang Tarif media and students who accepted the expository model. Therefore, Discourse Multy Representation with Kelubang Tarif media could be utilized as the alternative of mathematic learning in order to improve students’ problem-solving ability

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the worthiness of Geoboard media and to identify the students' mathematical understanding ability after the implementation of Geoboard media in learning mathematics at grade IV SDN Serang 11. Geoboard media is a tool for teaching mathematics at elementary schools to embed the concepts/geometry, such as introducing plane figures, instilling the understanding about the concept of plane figures, and determining the area and perimeter. The method of this research was Research and Development (R&D) with the stages of problem analysis, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, and limited product trials. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that Geoboard Media which was designed like a chessboard was developed based on the validation results with the score reaching 90% from material experts, 88% from media experts, and 93,5% from students’ responses. These results were categorized as Very Appropriate. Using Geoboard media for learning plane figures was considered to be effective to enhance students' mathematical understanding as it was obtaining that the average score was above the KKM (81.75%). After conducting several stages of validation, the final product of Geoboard learning media was considered to be very suitable, efficient, and attractive to be used as a learning media for mathematics learning, especially for plane figures materials, at grade IV SDN Serang 11.
