Abstract

The meaning of numbers, often referred to as Number Sense, is very important for students to understand especially in the elementary school. Correspondingly, elementary school students who are new to numbers must be given a real experience as a means of building an understanding of the meaning of numbers. Related to that, this study aimed to investigate the understanding of elementary school students at grade I who were taught with the designed coastal area media. The subjects of this study inclluded 2 elementary schools with a total of 42 subjects located on the coast. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of learning and its impact on number sense. The results of the data analysis showed that the effectiveness of using designed coastal area media for mathematics learning was in Good category. Moreover, the students' understanding of the meaning of numbers after the treatment significantly increased by 21.3%.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the learning interest of fifth grade students at SD N Winong 01 Pati. This research utilized qualitative descriptive method. This research was conducted at SD N Winong 01 Pati, Desa Winong, Kecamatan Winong, Kabupaten Pati. The focus of this research was studentsʼ learning interest towards WhatsApp-based online learning. The primary sources of data in this research were five 5th grade students at SD N Winong 01 Pati. In addition, the secondary sources of data were obtained through documentation of the students’ assignments and WhatsApp Group, articles, reference books, and other supporting data. The result of this research showed that students were often bored during learning at home. Moreover, teachers gave assignments without given materials or media to support the process of learning everyday. This caused the students less interested and not involved in learning. Students only responded and focused on the assignment given to them. The demand to submit the assignment everyday made the students motivated to learn and they did the assignment diligently. Besides, students also became more diligent and disciplined in learning and had a schedule of learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the difference of students’ learning motivation on CTL learning model and expository learning model. The implementation of CTL and expository learning model was proved to give different effect on the students’ motivation in learning social science subject. This study was quasi-experimental research which did not use a control group. The design of this study was nonequivalent groups pre-test-post-test design. This study was conducted at grade IV SDN 191 Pekanbaru with a total of 45 students. Different learning models significantly influenced the students’ motivation in learning social science. This difference was seen from the average value of the students’ learning motivation in which the average value for expository learning model was 52.72 and the value for CTL model was 79.69. This study also found that the difference value of expository learning model and CTL model towards the students’ motivation was  24.53% while the remaining 74.57% was influenced by other variables.

Abstract

Unggah-Ungguh Basa was one of the Javanese language materials taught at grade IV Elementary School. However, it was difficult for students to understand this material because the students were not interested in learning. Based on the existing problems, the purpose of this study was to produce suitable interactive multimedia as a learning media to attract the students’ interest in understanding “ unggah-ungguh basa” material. This research was research and development proposed by Sugiyono which was limited to five stages: (1) looking for potentials and problems, (2) collecting data, (3) designing products, (4) validating the design, (5) revising the product. This study was limited to the product revision stage after expert validation due to the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. The data were obtained and analyzed by using quantitative descriptive data analysis. According the material experts, the materials contained in the Interactive Multimedia Gaung Baja could be understood easily by the students with the percentage of 94.2% (very feasible). Furthermore, the score from the media experts was 91% (very feasible) because the Interactive Multimedia Gaung Baja contained an attractive appearance and several contents, such as materials, audios, videos, and quiz games to train students’ understanding. These results indicated that the Interactive Multimedia Gaung Baja was very feasible as a learning media for grade IV elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal how to develop the water cycle stage media for science learning at grade V, to analyze the feasibility of water cycle stage media developed for science learning at grade V, and to reveal the students’ response to the water cycle stage learning media. This study was conducted at SDN Teras 1. The subjects of this study were 20 students at grade V SDN Teras 1, in which 15 students were on a limited trial. This study was conducted based on Borg and Gall model modified by Sugiyono. This model included six stages: namely problem analysis, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, and product testing. The instruments in this study were questionnaire sheets which were addressed for the lecturer and students. Based on the result of data analysis, it was found that the quality of the water cycle stage media was presented in three categories. First, the feasibility of water cycle media from the media experts was categorized as very feasible with a percentage of 91.3%. Then, according to the material experts, this media was alo categorized as very feasible with a percentage of 93%. Finally, the feasibility result from education experts was also categorized as very feasible with a percentage of 93%. In addition, after conducting the trial to 15 students, the result of the students’ response to the water cycle stage media was 89%, which was also in the very feasible category.

Abstract

The students’ low learning outcome was caused by both internal and external factors.  The internal factors included a lack of interest and talents of the students and a lack of motivation from parents and the environment so that students were not enthusiastic about carrying out teaching and learning activities in their education.  Meanwhile, the external factors could be seen from the learning strategy, the management of learning activities, and less varied methods and learning models.  The external factors were also observed from the lack of other sources to assist the teaching and learning process at schools. Therefore, researchers initiated to find a solution for these problems. Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model was one of the interactive learning models that teachers could implement in the learning process. This model can draw students' real and clear understanding of the learning process they follow.  The objectives of this research were to find out the influence of CTL Model on the students’ learning outcomes on the theme of “Daerah Tempat Tinggalku” at grade IV SD Negeri 091332 Raya Bayu.  This research was the experimental research. The data were analyzed by the correlation coefficient test and T test. The results showed that the average pretest score in the experimental class was 58.5 and the average posttest score in the experimental class was 86.9.  This was supported by the results of the correlation coefficient test which was 0.781, meaning (0.781) >. (0.361). Thus, Ha was accepted.  This implied that there was a significant influence of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) Model on the students’ learning outcomes at grade IV-A SD Negeri 091332 Raya Bayu. The results of t-test also revealed 6,621 > 1,701, meaning that the hypothesis Ha was accepted.  This confirmed that Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model significantly influenced the students’ learning outcomes on the theme of “Daerah Tempat Tinggalku” at grade IV-A SD Negeri 091332 Raya Bayu the academic year 2019/2020.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the effect of discovery learning model on students’ learning outcomes on the theme of “Daerah Tempat Tinggalku” at grade IV SD Negeri 091363 Huta Tinggir in academic year 2019/2020. The population was all fourth grade students totaling 50 students. Samples were taken by saturated sampling for as many as 50 students who were divided into two groups and each group consisted of 26 and 24 students. The method used in this research was experimental method in order to find out the effect of certain treatments on others conditions. The instrument in this research was "t", in the form of multiple choices. Then, the hypotheses were tested by using t test. Based on the results of statistical calculation, it was revealed that after implementing discovery learning model, the learning outcome of the students in experiment class was included in Good category (the average score = 81.19). Meanwhile, the learning outcome of the students in control class did not improve significantly from the KKM (the average score = 67.1). Moreover, the result of the t-test resulted in the value of t count = 9.790 while t table = 2,055. This means that t count > t table; thus, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. This research concluded that there was a significant influence of discovery learning models on the students’ learning outcomes at grade IV SD Negeri 091363 Huta Tinggir in the Academic Year 2019/2020.

Abstract

This research was a comparative quantitative research which aimed to investigate the influence of  gender on the students’ science learning outcomes at grade V SDN Kebandaran Pemalang. The subjects in this research were 30 students at grade V SDN Kebandaran Pemalang; there were 15 male students and 15 female students as  the research samples in this class. These samples were chosen by using nonprobability sampling or saturated sampling. The method of this research was descriptive statistic with a comparative research design. The data were collected through interviews and documentations. Then, the data were analyzed by operating descriptive statistics and t-test with the prerequisite test, namely normality and homogeneity test. The results of t-test resulted in the value of  tcount for 2,236 and ttable for 2,05 with dk=28 and a significance level of 5%. Since the value of t-test was higher than ttable (2,236>2,05), it was concluded that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Based on these findings, it could be concluded that gender significantly influenced the science learning achievement of the students at grade V SDN Kebandaran Pemalang.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of mind mapping on students’ learning outcomes. This study was conducted at SD Islam Pertiwi Nusantara, Makassar. The approach of this study was quantitative with quasi-experimental research. The sampling technique was simple random sampling. Then, data were collected through tests, questionnaires, and observations. After that, the data were analyzed by using one-way covariate analysis (ANACOVA), in which the prerequisites, suh as normality, and homogeneity, had been previously tested. The results of this study indicated that mind mapping influenced the students’ learning outcomes and the results of ANACOVA was sig. 0.045 which means Sig. < 0.05.

Abstract

During the learning process, it was found that students did not treat their friends kindly; they did not answer questions from friends and teachers seriously. Moreover, the studets were also less motivated in learning and did not keep the learning atmosphere conducive. These were caused by the difference of the students’ social-emotional development. Thus, teachers needed to find a method to foster the students' social-emotional development; one of which was role-playing method. The purpose of this study was to find the effect of role-playing method on the students’ social-emotional development at grade III group 2 Ambalawi in the academic year 2020/2021. The design of this study was Non-equivalent Control Group Design. Then, the population of this study was all grade III elementary school students of group 2 Ambalawi in the academic year 2020/2021. The samples were selected by purposive sampling and the students of grade III SDN 1 Rite were as the experimental class and the students of grade III SDN Inpres 2 Rite were as the control class. After  that, the hypotheses were tested by the formula of independent sample t-test and the data were analyzed by using SPSS version 16.0. the results of data analysis showed that the value of t-count was 9,917 and t-table was 2,042 meaning that t-count ≥ t-table. By looking at the Sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 ≤ 0.05, the significant level of 5% with df 30, it was revealed that Ha was accepted. This implied that role-playing method provided significant influence on the students’ social-emotional development at grade III group 2 Ambalawi in the academic year 2020/2021.
