Abstract

This research was triggered by the low level of the learning outcomes on the mathematics learning at primary schools. It was also based on the results of observation finding that there were problems constraining the success of learning mathematics at primary schools. One of which was the students’ low achievement and the mathematics learning which were less attractive to students. This research aimed to improve the students’ mathematics learning outcomes on multiplication material by implementing drill method. This research was classroom action research in which the researchers compared the increase of students’ learning outcomes before and after the implementation of drill method in two cycles. This research was conducted in SDN Cibeber 1 at Kecamatan Cimahi Selatan, Kota Cimahi. The results of this study indicated that the students’ mathematics learning outcomes on multiplication material increased as much as 52.2% after the implementation of drill method. Thus, it could be concluded that the drill method could increase the mathematics learning outcomes of grade II elementary students in the multiplication material.

Abstract

Abstract: Learning facilities refers to the facilities and infrastructures utilized to support the learning activities in order to achieve the goals of education. Motivation is a condition that encourages someone to do an activity so that he can achieve his goals. This research utilized a quantitative research method, namely ex post facto research. The data were analyzed by using prerequisite test and t test. The conclusion of the t test revealed that the score of tcount (3.681) > ttable (1.706) with a significance of 0.001≤0.05. Therefore, H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that learningfacilities affected the learning motivation of grade III students at SDN I Notorejo, Kecamatan Gondang, Kabupaten Tulungagung in the academic year 2018/2019. The results of this research were used as an effort to improve the quality of learning, especially in the availability of adequate learning facilities as a supporting factors to increase the students’ learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aimed to re-analyze the effect of scramble learning model to improve students’ learning outcomes at elementary schools. Scramble learning model refers to a game of arranging the scrambled words and letters in order to form a certain meaningful word. The scramble learning can train students to be creative to arrange random words and sentences in order. This study utilized a meta-analysis method. At the first stage, the researcher formulated the problem, then, sought the existing and relevant research to be analyzed. The technique of data collection in this study was a non-test, namely the documentary analysis method, by searching for electronic journals on Google Scholar with the criteria of comparative journals or articles. There were 11 articles that fulfilled the criteria for this research. The results of the journal analysis indicated that scramble learning model could improve the students' cognitive learning outcomes. This was proved by the average difference of the results of the pre-test and post-test which was 24.9. To strengthen the results, these data were tested by IBM SPSS statistical program 16 for windows with paired sample T test. Based on the result of this test, it was revealed that H1 was accepted which implied that the scramble learning model had an effect on students’ learning outcomes with the value of sig 0.00 <0.05.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the improvement of students’ mathematical problem-solving ability between those who utilized the Discourse Multi Representation model with Kelubang Tarif media and those who applied the expository model. This quasi-experimental study was conducted at an elementary school in Kudus. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students in the school, and the samples were two classes selected using purposive sampling. This study employed a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The instrument used was a test to measure students' mathematical problem-solving abilities, and the data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The N-Gain test was employed to examine the results. The findings indicated that there was a significant difference in the improvement of mathematical problem-solving ability between students who learned using the Discourse Multi Representation model with Kelubang Tarif media and those who learned using the expository model. Thus, the Discourse Multi Representation model with Kelubang Tarif media can be used as an effective alternative in mathematics learning to enhance students’ problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This research aims to describe Miller and Seller’s theoretical perspective on curriculum development in primary schools. A literature study method was applied to collect data from relevant sources. The study finds that Miller and Seller’s curriculum orientation involves three approaches: transmission, transaction, and transformation. In the transmission orientation, curriculum development emphasizes transferring knowledge, skills, and values to students through learning subjects. The learning process is teacher-centered, the strategy is expository, and evaluation relies on traditional tests. The transaction orientation emphasizes interaction between the curriculum and students, where the teacher acts as a facilitator to assist students in constructing knowledge. The learning strategy employs scientific approaches with active, collaborative, and inquiry-based methods, and evaluation uses authentic assessment. In the transformation orientation, the curriculum focuses on students’ personal and social transformation. The learning strategy encourages students to find the meaning and value of learning and to apply it in real life. Teachers act as motivators and facilitators, while evaluation emphasizes performance and behavior appraisal through authentic assessment. In conclusion, primary school curricula in the transmission orientation focus on academic subjects with an integrated organization. In the transaction orientation, the curriculum is designed to solve social problems using a scientific paradigm. In the transformation orientation, the curriculum aims to enable students to achieve personal and social transformation holistically.

Abstract

Students need speaking skills to express their opinions in front of the class; however, many students still lack confidence in speaking. This study aimed to investigate whether students taught using the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model had better speaking skills than those taught using the cooperative learning model. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a Posttest-Only Control Group design. The population consisted of fifth-grade students at SDN Gayungan II Surabaya, and samples were selected using cluster random sampling, with class V-A as the experimental class and class V-B as the control class. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. Test data were analyzed using inferential statistics with SPSS, while data from student activities and learning implementation were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that students taught using the PjBL model had significantly better speaking skills than those taught using the cooperative learning model.
