Abstract

This research aims to answer how Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas's concept of justice can offer solutions to the crisis of truth in the post-truth era. The post-truth phenomenon is characterized by the dominance of hoaxes, misinformation, and manipulation of public emotions, which reflects the loss of intellectual discipline in treating knowledge. Epistemological defects occur when truth is treated on an equal footing with opinions and conjectures, thus giving birth to epistemic injustice. This study uses a qualitative approach through a literature review of al-Attas' works. The analysis shows that the essence of justice according to al-Attas puts everything in its place and can be applied in the realm of knowledge through manners and the placement of knowledge. This perspective shows that efforts to counter hoaxes, misinformation, and information manipulation are not enough with technical verification alone, but require a reconstruction of epistemic consciousness rooted in the Islamic worldview.

Abstract

This research examines the implementation of Sibaliparri values (a local mutual assistance ethic) in coastal communities in Majene Regency, West Sulawesi with a review of the Qur'an and Hadith analyzed using a phenomenological approach. Sibaliparri represents a mutual assistance ethic in all situations such as Palluluareang (brotherhood), Siasayangngi (compassion), Sianauang pa'mai (care) and Sukku' Mattulung, covering both material and spiritual aspects in Islamic values. Coastal communities primarily engaged in fishing must adopt adaptation strategies to address diverse life challenges, including by integrating Sibaliparri values into their social life. The research method used is a qualitative-descriptive to describe the meaning of lived experiences. The results showed that Sibaliparri is interpreted with various meanings, including; as an expression of gratitude, mutual cooperation and social solidarity, practicing Islamic teachings, economic activities, and manifestations of love and affection.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the legal positivization of the Indonesian Council of Ulama’s (MUI) Fatwa No. 2 of 2022 and to explore its potential as a foundation for formal regulation. Employing a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach, data were collected through document analysis, Islamic legal literature, and interviews with MUI figures and local communities. The findings demonstrate that the fatwa reflects Qur’anic principles of justice, public interest (maṣlaḥah), and equality, while simultaneously affirming the legal status of fatwas as normative products with potential for positivization or legalization into valid written regulations, at least in the form of local bylaws (Perda). The fatwa thus functions as a normative bridge connecting Islamic law, customary norms, and state law. The study recommends synergy between MUI, local government, and traditional leaders to advance the transformation of fatwas into contextual and equitable regulations

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of meaning in the Bugis society’s mappasikarawa culture, which has undergone significant shifts in values due to modernity. It employs a dialectical approach between the Qur’an and local cultural context as al-urf to map the dynamic relationship between universal Islamic values and local wisdom. Using a qualitative analytical-critical method, data was gathered through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis in Bugis regions. Findings show that mappasikarawa serves not only as a symbolic ritual but also integrates Qur’anic values sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah. Thus, a contextual reinterpretation based on maqaṣid al-shariah and hifz al-nafs is essential to maintain its relevance and harmony with Islamic law.

Abstract

This study criticizes the phenomenon of provocative da'wah on social media through the perspective of Qur'anic ethics in Surah An-Nahl verse 125. With the qualitative method of content analysis and thematic hermeneutics, the results of the study show that: (1) Provocative da'wah theologically deviates from the principles of Qur'anic da'wah and ethically violates Islamic moral values such as al-ḥilm (politeness) and ar-raḥmah (compassion); (2) The three pillars in Surah An-Nahl verse 125 offer a comprehensive communication ethics framework for digital da'wah, which is integrated with digital literacy and moral responsibility; (3) The implementation of this framework has academic implications for the development of thematic interpretation studies and digital communication science, as well as practical implications in the form of operational guidelines for dai to create a calming, unifying, and dignified digital da'wah ecosystem (rahmatan lil 'alamin).

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of innovative pedagogical approaches in hadith instruction at Athirah 2 Islamic School Makassar. The research focuses on how interactive methods, technological integration, and contextual approaches enhance students’ comprehension, participation, and motivation in internalizing hadith values. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations, and analyzed using thematic techniques to identify key patterns and themes. The findings reveal that the use of learning technologies, group discussions, and contextual material development significantly strengthen student engagement and the relevance of hadith to everyday life. The contribution of this research lies in proposing a new pedagogical model that integrates cognitive, moral, and spiritual dimensions, while also highlighting challenges such as human resource limitations and teacher readiness as critical factors in implementation.

Abstract

This research focuses on the controversy of women's Friday prayers in Gorontalo which arises from differences in ideological views, worship practices, and dynamics of socio-religious relations. The purpose of this research is to uncover the root of the conflict, explain the causative factors, and examine its social impact through the lens of social philosophy, especially related to power relations, the structure of religious authority, and the formation of religious public spaces. The research methods used are qualitative with theological-normative, sociological, religious, and social philosophy analysis approaches through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis was carried out inducively through reduction, verification, and data presentation by utilizing the concept of Stuart Hall reception. The results of the study show that there is a diversity of interpretations of QS. al-Jumu'ah verse 9 and hadith related to Friday obligations that result in dominant reception, negotiation, and opposition. These differences affect the configuration of religious power, strengthen gender boundaries in the worship space, and cause disharmony.

Abstract

This quantitative study explores the novel effect of teaching al-Arba'in al-Nawawiyah on character development among MAPK students in Makassar. By employing linear regression analysis on a sample of 92 students, we show that student motivation is the primary predictor of character development, explaining 23% of the variance. The data were collected through a questionnaire. While teaching methods and teacher qualifications were not significant predictors, the findings offer new insights into motivation-driven character formation in Islamic education. This study contributes to the growing body of literature by providing empirical evidence for the role of intrinsic motivation in enhancing moral and social behaviors among secondary school students, particularly in the context of hadith-based learning. Although the regression model used explained 23% of the variation in student character, student motivation was proven to be the main factor in better character formation

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious tolerance values through the concept of Living Hadith within the framework of religious moderation in Manado City, North Sulawesi. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through interviews with religious leaders, community figures, local residents, as well as observations of interfaith social and religious activities. The analysis integrates hadith texts with field findings to explore how hadith values on tolerance, non-violence, humanity, national commitment, and respect for local traditions are internalized and manifested in social practices. The findings indicate that these values are embedded in communal traditions such as Mapalus, religious celebrations, customary events, and interfaith harmony. The Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB) plays a significant role as a platform for dialogue and conflict prevention. This study affirms that the Living Hadith concept contributes to fostering inclusive tolerance and strengthening religious moderation in Manado.
