Abstract

This ‘classroom action research’ aims to determine the effectiveness of the project assessment at Islamic Junior School (Madrasah Tsanawiyah) Model Makassar in the VIII/a class as subject research. The study carried out in two cycles, data collection was done by employing three ways: questionnaires, observation and test administration. The result showed that the project assessment was able to improve: 1) student discipline, shown on average 73,78% of the first cycle and the second cycle was 91,72%. 2) Responsibility for student learning, the average seen in the first cycle of 66,37% and 85,77% for the second cycle. 3) Student learning outcomes, the first cycle were 51,72% while in the second cycle there was 17,24% score below the minimum completeness criteria. On the individual test conducted at the end of the second cycle showed that there are only 4 students (13,79%) who had not reached the minimum completeness criteria.

Abstract

This experimental study aimed to investigate the effect of the ‘thaharah bermakna’ (meaningful purification)’ through the logo analysis model to build students’ positive characters. The experiment employed the one-group pretest-posttest design involving 22 students of SMP Diponegoro Yogyakarta. The data were collected through a positive character scale (ri = 0.316-0.651, α = 0.929) and a monitoring sheet for the ‘thaharah bermakna’ independent practice. The results of the within subject test showed that the ‘thaharah bermakna’ training and the independent practice for a week were capable of significantly improving students’ positive characters with F = 0.578, p = 0.005 (p<0.010). Before the treatment, the subjects’ mean score was 186.91 and after the treatment their mean score improved to 193.91. The study concluded that the ‘thaharah bermakna’ training through the logo analysis model and an independent practice for a week significantly improved students’ positive characters. In other words, it could be said that the ‘thaharah bermakna’ training was effective to build students’ positive characters.

Abstract

This article explores some evidences on unsatisfactory educational achievement. It particularly is focused on its failure in forming good character for society. This fact shows the proven that there is a “crucial” gap between the objectives of National education and the education result which has been gained. Al-Quran pays attention toward education which oriented to character building and understanding of plenary values. Character building according to Al-Quran should be started from ‘the inner’ of man. The values is internalized and done to be custom to form good character. Al-Quran shows some examples by asking the man to experience the objects and take lesson from them in Islam terms “ibrah” from good models which full of plenary values and is hoped to form the man who have good attitude, large knowledge, good faith and religion.

Abstract

This writing is presenting about the role of Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) lesson toward students. Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) is one of the most importances pilar of character education. Character education will build well, if it is started from cultivating religious sense of students, therefore, PAI lesson become one of supporting lesson of character education. Through PAI teaching and learning, the students is taught belief of God as the basic of their religion, taught al quran and hadits as their way of life, taught fiqih as law signs in doing Islam teaching, taught Islam history as a good life example, and taught ethica as the way of human character.

Abstract

This articlediscusses about character building education, Al-Qaulu Al-Qadim Wa al-Qaulu Al-Hadits. Education, accordingly, isaimed to improve the ability of controlling emotion, have tolerant (samahah) and inclusive, that is to invest moral values, such as honesty, loyalty, integrity, trustworthy, respect, responsibility, fairness, and caring. Character building is also intended to make students as cultivating students’ practical skills, creativity, industriousness, cultivating students innovative spirit, self-confidence, andwisdom. Ultimately, all theseelements have been mentioned above will be obtained through character education.

Abstract

This article is going to discuss about psycholinguistics point of view in the Arabic language which is oriented to character education. When education meets some principles obstacle in putting human be a human to be better as basic orientation of education, national character education emerges with four pillar of development whichare included heart cultivation, thought cultivation, sense cultivation, and physical cultivation as the manifestation of Pancasila moral values. In psycholinguistic point of view, Arabic language lesson tends to be considered as an activity which erodes nationalism in using Indonesia language as united language. However, Arabic language can be a process to strengthen the nationalism by integrating the four pillar of national character education in learning Arabic language.

Abstract

This paperdiscusses about the role of parents on character-building education of girl teenagers in Islam view. Teenager phase in their live is only coming once in a life, the beautiful phase and at once crucial because this phase is transitional phase physically, emotionally and physiology to arrive to another phase which is referred to adultness, to properness thought and action. This phase is also identical with socialization and adaptation with the surrounding, so it is not amazing when we find that the point of view and the attitude of teenagers in every country is different because it is related to the culture and social domination of the surrounding. Teenagers tend to come to vulnerable condition;therefore,they need control and guidance from their parents primarily to theirages-phases, the condition of their parents’ idea and their understanding about personality, along with religious thought which are aimed to build their girls’ character. Then, the girls can face their teenager-phase properly and accordance with Islam teachings. Finally, these girls’ character will make them smarter, skilful, and faithful to their religion, namely Islam.

Abstract

The main objective of this article is to elucidate how character education in Islamic perspectivewhich creates outstanding human resource. Educational Character in Islam perspective is the education that set plenary human attitude and character on intellectual Questions (IQ), emotional Question (EQ), and spiritual Question (SQ). The totality of these IQs will form a perfectman, whichin Islam it isnamed “insân kâmil” or plenary human resource. Intellectual Question (IQ) forms rational thought. While emotional question is emotional which be one impulsive understanding system and have big effect, yet it is sometimes not logic. Both of these thought work in harmony and complete each other. Spiritual Question (SQ) is spiritual intelligence which forms human thought into truth in Islam term “shiddiq”, faithful “istiqamah”, believable “amanah”, “fathanah” and “tabliq”. The Synchronisation among Intellectual Question (IQ), and Spiritual Question (SQ) will make vertical relation between God and human (“Hablum minallah”) and horizontal relation between human and human (“Hablum minnannas”) which can become guidance for a responsible action in this world and the hereafter.

Abstract

This paper elaborates about self-awareness that is a process of forming the Islam character. In the self-awareness, human is faced on opposite side; that is, they are to know the power of strength and the weakness of ourselves. Both of them there is synergy, when the man can use them optimally and proportionally, the success of his/her can be gained. To grow the self-awareness is needed character forming which is started from the values is found from many kind of resources, then the values form thought pattern of someone totally and bear as vision. The vision turn into the mind area and form mind nuance, then totally come out as mentality, flow through physic area and bear action as attitude form.

Abstract

This writing is aimed to analysetheeducational character building according to Islamic education perspective. Since a man came upin the world, they have been equipped with spiritual potency such as mind of thinking, heart, desire, soul, and physic potency. All the potencies will develop in accordance to the stimulus which is given through education. The human mind will be smart and can be used to solve the problems, when it is educated, charged with intellectualexercises and filled it with many kinds of knowledge, in turns it will bear intellectual question. The human heart will get emotional and spiritual question, when it is given education, then they will get their emotional and spiritual question. Moreover, the desire, as motoric power, has a positive meaningas long as it is educated. Surely, the desire can be controlled.
