Abstract

Islamic countries are currently facing two major strategic issues: modernization and regional security. This study aims to examine the relevance of diplomacy in supporting the modernization agenda and maintaining regional security in Islamic countries. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive-analytical methodology and utilizing a critical approach theoretical framework to examine issues such as diplomatic modernization and regional security. The results of the study show that Modernization and regional security are two interrelated and crucial concepts in the development of Islamic countries. Effective modernization encourages regional stability, while regional security is a prerequisite for poverty development. Diplomatic modernization focuses on access to technology, investment, and resources to accelerate economic transformation, while regional security diplomacy builds cooperation in facing threats such as terrorism and conflict. Islamic countries face challenges such as political tensions and technological change, but through this strategic diplomacy, they can turn challenges into development opportunities. Case studies in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar show the effectiveness of the approach in encouraging sustainable development and maintaining regional stability.

Abstract

Purwokerto is known as a city with a distinct cultural identity. Nicknamed the “Ngapak City,” it is characterized by the straightforward and unpretentious dialect of its people, reflecting an open and egalitarian social character. The acculturation between Islam and local culture in this region has given rise to a unique expression of religiosity. Islam did not arrive as a dominating force seeking to replace existing traditions but rather merged harmoniously with long-standing local values. This study aims to explore the dynamics of Islam in Purwokerto using a phenomenological approach to understand religious practices in a deep and holistic manner. The findings reveal that Islam has become an integral part of daily life, evolving through a process of acculturation that fosters diverse yet respectful expressions of faith. At least five typologies of Islamic expression can be identified: Kejawen Islam, Kampung Islam, Sufi Islam (Tarekat), Moderate Islam, and Puritan Islam. This diversity reflects a dynamic and pluralistic face of Islam, yet one that remains harmonious. These typologies represent a contextualized, grounded, and culturally rooted form of Islam in the Ngapak City.

This tradition, which is a form of mutual cooperation and mutual assistance in the context of celebrations or celebrations, has strong roots in local culture and serves to strengthen social relations between citizens. Through interviews with local communities, the study identified values such as empathy, solidarity, and help that are internalized in daily life. The results of the study show that Nganta Petuloh plays an important role in strengthening social ties, even though it is currently facing challenges due to social changes and declining interest of the younger generation. The influence of Qur'anic teachings is also evident in this practice, reflecting how religious values are manifested in community life. To ensure the sustainability of this tradition, this study recommends preservation efforts through education and innovation that can attract the interest of new generations. Abstract

Abstract

This research explores the mystical dimension in the da'wah (Islamic missionary) strategy of Wali Songo, a group of prominent Islamic figures in the history of Islamization in Java. The study investigates how Sufi elements and mysticism were integrated into cultural expressions to support the dissemination of Islamic teachings. The research was motivated by the need to understand the success of Wali Songo's inclusive approach, especially in engaging local belief systems and cultural traditions. This study employed a qualitative approach using descriptive-analytical methods. Data were collected from classical texts, folklore, and previous research on Wali Songo. The findings show that Wali Songo's da'wah extensively adopted Sufi practices such as dhikr, wirid, and the use of spiritual symbols. They reinterpreted local cultural expressions—like wayang performances, gamelan, and traditional ceremonies—as Islamic mediums. The cultural accommodation strategy, especially by figures such as Sunan Kalijaga, reveals a sophisticated understanding of local wisdom and the effective contextualization of Islamic teachings.

Abstract

The development process around the world is faced with a dilemma, namely whether development keep going continued, consider the impact it causes, namely damaging environment. One proof is and more it's hot earth's temperature as a result of clearing forests for the sake of generating development various crisis environments is one of them is global warming. This is thought to be caused by the "ignorance" factor of world leaders about concepts-based ecology. Therefore, giving knowledge and understanding since early to generation young people, especially students, about concepts based on “eco-literacy,” is urgent to do. Based on this thought, it is necessary to implement the activity in the form of devotion in society (P2M), especially for students in Elementary School, to improve eco-literacy through delivery in the form instructional pack. One of the methods to evaluate the success of a service program public is based on the evaluation initial (before the program is implemented) compared to the results end (after the program is done), so it looks at whether there is improvement in a way significant or not. If there is, then can it be said that the P2M program was successful? The methods applied are, at the beginning of activities, visiting the school, then the team giving an explanation and then giving test pre-test to the students, and then sharing a small book called learning package about eco-literacy. After around one-half month, with the students' estimates already reading the learning package contents, the team came back to class and provided a post-test. The difference between the two tests found there was an improvement in students' eco-literacy significantly, so it can be concluded that the P2M program implemented was successful. Based on this activity, recommendations could be delivered that in every learning, teachers are asked to always tuck in basic concepts, for early use to improve students’ eco-literacy, therefore, in the future, they are the ones who will become national leaders.
