Abstract

This study focused on the characterization in the novel Small Letters to God Agnes Davonar work. Formulation of the research problem "How dispositive Analysis in Novel Small Letters to God Agnes Davonar work?           This study uses descriptive analysis . This study collected data descriptive phases: (1) read and understand the novel, (2) marking the novel, and (3) inventory data.Number of characters involved in the novel Small Letters to God Agnes Davonar work as many as 16 people. (1) Keke he has the unyielding nature , full of gratitude, strong , clever , patient , and active. (2) Pak Joddy as a father has unyielding nature, spirit, loyal, and caring. (3) Mr. Iyus as a driver possesses a swift, loyal, and cheerful. (4) Chika as a brother has an independent nature. (5) as the sister Kiki has a good nature. (6) Mothers parental Keke has a loyal nature. (7) as a lover Andi Keke has a loyal nature, and attention. (8) Bibi as domestic servants have a loyal nature. (9) as a neighbor and sister Princess Keke Class yangbaik properties. (10) Fahda as friend Keke has siafat attention and confidence. (1) Shifa as friend Keke has a passionate nature. (12) Angel as a friend Keke has properties that scoffers. (13) Professor Mukhlis as a doctor has a friendly nature , and never give up. (14) Professor Peng Shuai as the doctor has a friendly nature and never give up. (15) Ana as a psychologist has a property firm, and (16) as Sister Sister has a friendly nature.

Abstract

The research on the background by students difficulties in proposing their ideas while writing short story. Furthermore, the technique of learning which is used by the teachers are not vary. The teachers also are not able to motivate students in helping them to bring up their ideas. According to those problems,  the researcher do the research writing short story by finishing the story technique. The purpose of this research is to describe the capability of SMA Negeri 9 Sijunjung class X students in writing short story. The research is used Semi theory about writing, Thahar theory  about short story, and Tarigan theory about the technique of finishing story.This research is a quantitative research with descriptive method. The population in this research is about 130 students which are dispersed in five classes. Those students are listed in 2012/2013 period. The sample of the research is about 26 students by purposive sampling technique. The researcher choose X.I class as the sample of the research. It is considered by variety of students ability. Later on, the research data is to test ferformance to research the ability writing short story with the technique.According to the result of data analysis, it shows that the ability in writing short story of SMA Negeri 9 Sijunjung students by finishing story technique as (1) students ability in describing the characters in writing short story are classified enough with the avarage of mastery 73.23%, (2) students’ ability in using plot of the story are classified enough with the avarage of mastery 56-65%, (3) students’ ability in using background of the story are classified more than enough with the avarage of mastery 71.92%. As a result, it can be conluded that students’ abitlity in writing short story with finishing story techniqueare classified more than enough with the avarage 67.76% in the stretch of 66.75%.

Abstract

The background of this research problem was lack of ability to write a persuasive essay in class VIII.D junior high school Number 2 Lengayang Pesisir Selatan District. Low interest of students in writing essays of persuasion due to the method used is the lecture method resulting in saturated and bored students on the material being taught, so that the necessary techniques that are able to improve essay writing skills of persuasion. This study aimed to describe the comparison of the ability to write persuasive essays before and after the use of media images in teaching writing persuasive essay in class VIII.D junior high school Number 2 Lengayang Pesisir Selatan District.            This research is quantitative research. The technique used in this study are pre with the research  design of pre - test and post -test. The population in this study is the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Lengayang Pesisir selatan  district listed in 2012/2013 which consists of 7 classes. collect the sample is purposive sampling and the sample is grade VIII.D.the instrument use of the test about performance of writing a persuasive essay. techniques  to collect the data is done in two stages, before and after using the media image.            Based on the results of a study of the ability to write persuasive essays before and after the use of media images can conclude the following points. First , the ability to write persuasive essays before using media images eighth grade students of junior high school number 2 Lengayang Pesisir Selatan District are at nearly qualified enough ( HC ) with an average value of 52.86. Second, the ability to write persuasive essays after using media images eighth grade junior high student 2 Lengayang Pesisir selatan District are in good qualification ( B ) with an average value of 75.93. Third, there are significant differences from before and after the use of media to use images in teaching media writing persuasive essays of t-test results at the level of 0.05 t = 12.8 > t table = 1.70 thus H1 is accepted. Student learning outcomes in persuasion fabricated using media images more effectively.

Abstract

The research was motivated by five bases. First, students are not able to develop an ideas or looking for new ideas at writing plays. Second, in the writing, students could not use Bahasa Indonesia properly and correctly. Third, students also did not have good understanding of playwriting materials as they played in the class. Fourth, lecturing students to write a play make most students got saturated. Fifth, evaluation results show that only half of the students able to write a play. This study aimed to determine the ability of the students at writing plays using modeling techniques (modeling). The students are of the class VIII.1 of SMPN 4 Lengayang, South Coast District of West Sumatera.            The type of this research is quantitative. The technigue used this study are pre with the research design of pre-test and post-test. The population is 27 students of the class VIII.1 of SMPN 4 Lengayang using a random technique class or purposive sampling. Data collected through performance tests. Data were analyzed with particular steps. First, read and check out the plays written by the students. Second, scoring. Third, convert the scores to values.  Fourth, group the values in scale of 10. Fifth, group the values into a frequency distribution table. Sixth, determine the arithmetic mean of the students  skill at writing plays.Results of data analysis showed that the ability to write a play before using the modeling technique is average (C) 58.52 and the ability to write a play after using modeling techniques are classified as good (B) 72.7 so there are clear difference between before and after this research . Based on the t test known that t value is 4.52 while the t table is 1.71, proved that t > t table. The t-test research show that the ability to write a play with modeling techniques of the students of the class VIII.1 SMPN 4 Lengayang is better than the ability to write a play without using modeling techniques.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the use of figure of speech writers short stories collected in short story anthologies Laurin fingers . Formulation of the problem in this research is " how the use of figure of speech in a short story anthology Laurin fingers " ? The purpose of this study was to describe the use of figure of speech in the Short Story Anthology fingers Laurin and the dominant figure of speech to describe the short story anthology Laurin fingers . This research is descriptive qualitative research method . The data in this study is a figure of speech figure of speech consisting of comparison , figure of speech conflict , majas engagement , and the figure of speech repetition or affirmation . Sources of data are contained in twenty short stories Short Story Anthology Laurin fingers . Stages of the research done by : ( 1 ) read the short story anthology fingers Laurin , (2 ) literature to find references , guidelines , or references relating to the purposes of the study , (3 ) classifying the data , (4 ) analyzing the data , (5 ) conduct validation of data , (6 ) research concluded , and ( 7 ) writing research reports . In the short story anthology Laurin fingers are 8 kinds of figure of speech . The figure of speech is the personification of 30 times ; figure of speech hyperbole as much as 11 times ; metaphorical figure of speech as much as 6 times ; majas ellipsis 2 times ; simile figure of speech as much as 6 times , as well as sarcasm figure of speech , allusions , and cynicism as much as 1 times . Total use figure of speech in the Short Story Anthology fingers Laurin is 58 times . The dominant figure of speech in a short story anthology is a figure of speech personification Laurin fingers 30 times

Abstract

This research is motivated by the eight reasons. First, the teaching of writing just described in terms of the theories and practice are less than the maximum. Second, the book learning support is still lacking. Third, only use the lecture method of teaching. Fourth, students are difficult to distinguish and determine the type of essay exposition. Fifth, students are less able to use the Indonesian language is good and true. Sixth, students are less able to express an idea, notion, thought to be written in essay form. Seventh, the study did not use the Indonesian media. Eighth, the number of Indonesian hours only 2 sessions so as to practice writing essays exposition is not maximal. This study aims to describe the exposition essay writing skills by using media flow chart. This type of research is descriptive quantitative method. Population studies class XI student of SMK state 4 Padang, amounting to 294 people. Sample was 31 people. The sampling technique is random sampling. Instruments used performance tests essay writing exposition.Based on the analysis of research data. Perfect qualifications for indicators explain a subject matter in accordance with the object (chart). Qualification for the indicator does not affect the reader. More than enough qualifications to elaborate indicators objects clearly. Excellent qualification for the indicator using the facts. Average exposition essay writing skills of students by using media flow charts good qualification is 85% in the range 76-85%.

Abstract

This research is motivated by four phenomena, namely (1) techniques writing bervariaif not appear, (2) low ability students in developing the idea or ideas into an essay, and (3) interest and motivation of students is still low in writing.This study aimed to describe the argument essay writing skills with constructivism technique class X SMA Negeri 1 Basa Ampek Balai Tapan. This research is quantitative using descriptive method, which required a lot of research that uses numbers, ranging from data collection, interpretation of data, and as well as the appearance of the results.The subjects were students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Basa Ampek Balai Tapan. Samples were students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Basa Ampek Balai Tapan  totaling 40 people. The data of this study aimed to test the students writing. Based on the results of the study concluded the following matters; First, the application of constructivism technique class X SMA Negeri 1 Basa Ampek Balai Tapan tongue quite well. Second, in general the average value of the argument essay writing skills class X SMA Negeri 1 Basa Ampek Balai Tapan is 73 with more than enough qualifications.Conclusions relevant to the study, recommended two things. First, the ability to write essays arguing tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Basa Ampek Balai Tapan needs to be increased again. Second, the techniques should be utilized functionally constructivism in learning to write an argument essay.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability of grade VII Junior Home Affairs I Gumanti Valley in poetry. Type of this research is quantitative research using descriptive method. The population is grade VII Junior Home Affairs I Valley Gumanti years lessons 2012-2013. A sample of these studies amounted to 30 people with a proportional random sampling techniques. Research data is text poem written students based on two indicators: diction, and majo. Based on the analysis of the data shows that, first, the ability to write poetry class VII students of SMP Negeri Solok Regency Gumanti Valley I by using the techniques found (inquiry) for indicators of diction is good (B) with the means to become rounded 83,3 83 found on the stretch of 76-85%.  Second, the ability to write poetry Class VII students of SMP Negeri Solok Regency Gumanti Valley I by using the techniques found (inquiry) to Majo indicator is more than enough (LDC) and to rounded 69,3 69 means in the range of 65-75%. Third, the ability to write poetry Class VII students of SMP Negeri Solok Regency Gumanti Valley I by using the techniques found (inquiry) is a good indicator for the second (B) with the means to become rounded 76,3 76 found on the stretch of 76-85%.Relevant to the case, the researchers put forward several suggestions, which are as follows. First, in order for the students classes VII Junior Home Affairs I Valley Gumanti more reading material related to poetry so as to increase knowledge and enrich the diction in poetry. Second, subjects that teachers of language and literature in junior high Country Indonesia I Gumanti Valley further enhance learning technique variation in poetry. Third, that teachers of subjects language and literature in junior high Country Indonesia I Valley Gumanti more poetry writing exercise that gives students more skillfully and creatively in terms of writing poetry.

Abstract

This research is motivated by several factors. The first factor,facilities and infrastructure to support the learning for still there even less. Second, students skill in writing poetry is low. This research aims to describe the things. First, the skills to appreciate poetry class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang. Second, skill writing poetry students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang. Third, the relationship skills to appreciate poetry and writing poetry students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang.                       This research uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive menthod through correlational approach. Sample of this research were students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang enrolled in the academic year 2012/2013 which is spread in 3 class. Taking random sample totaling 28 students. The data is a result of research skills of student class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang to appreciate poetry gained through objective test and the result writing poetry students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang obtained through performance test.             Based on the data processing and discussion, obtained the following result. First, the average skill level to appreciate poetry of students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang are enough qualifying (61,03). Second, the average writing poetry students class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang are more than enough in qualifying (66,64). Third, there is a significant positive the significant level of  95%  is equal to 1,706 between appreciating poetry skills with writing poetry.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the first, low motivation of students in reading comprehension because reading materials available bit. Second , the method used is less interesting and less varied. Third, the lack of student interest in learning writing skills especially writing paragraphs deductive. Fourth, the lack of students skills in reading comprehension and deductive writing paragraphs. This study aims to determine the relationship kamampuan reading comprehension with writing paragraphs deductive skills class XI SMA Negeri I Pasaman Two Koto. This research is quantitative research using descriptive methods , Arikunto ( 2002:10 ). The population in this study were students of class XI SMA Negeri I Two Koto Pasaman totaling 190 people. Proportional random sampling technique sampling , sample numbered as many as 40 people. Analysis using the formula korelasi.Berdasarkan outcomes research is that, first reading comprehension ability of students are on qualification" more than enough" with 66-75 % mastery level on a scale of 10. Second, deductive paragraph writing skills students are on qualification " reasonably " with 56-65 % mastery level on a scale of 10 Third there is a relationship with the reading comprehension skills of writing paragraphs deductive as seen from 5,926 t value is greater than the value of t table 2.021 .
