Abstract

This study discusses the ability of the Official Letter Grade of SMP NI Pasaman Panti. The background of this problem, namely the First, students are not informed about any course sections and subsections official letter. Second, students watched less effective use of sentences. Third, students pay less attention to the use of capital letters , especially the letter of application for a license. Fourth, students are less able to write a formal letter due to several factors, namely ( 1 ) in accordance with the times, students are more likely to use mobile phone communication tool of the write ( 2 ) write a formal letter is a lesson that is less attractive to students. (3) the lack of attention and guidance in writing a formal letter. The purpose of this study is to describe the ability to write an official letter grade SMP N 1 Panti Pasaman, especially letters permit application in terms of sections and subsections of a formal letter, use effective sentences and use capital letters. This paper suggests several theories that are relevant to the variables studied. The theories used are (1) The nature of the letter, include: (a) Definition of a formal letter, (b) a formal letter type, (c) the form of an official letter, (d) parts of a formal letter, (2) effective use of sentence (3) the use of capital letters. This research is quantitative research using descriptive methods. The research data was obtained by a written test or write a letter carried by the eighth grade students . This test aims to determine the ability of students to write a formal letter letter of application for a permit in particular by applying the theories that have been studied. The results of this study as follows. (1) the ability to write an official letter grade SMP N 1 Panti Pasaman for sections and subsections official letter on qualification "reasonably" with an average of 64.6% (2) the ability to write an official letter grade SMP N 1 Panti Pasaman particular letter requesting permission to use effective sentence is the qualifier "not at all" with an average of 26.6 %. (3) the ability to write an official letter grade SMP N 1 Panti Pasaman particular letter requesting permission for the use of capital letters is the qualifier "almost enough" with an average of 46%. Based on the results of these three aspects anaisis can be concluded that the ability of the Official Letter Grade Students SMP NI Panti Pasaman on qualification " less" with an average of 45.4 % at mastery level 36-45 % on a scale of 10.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the student’s ability of class VII SMP N 2 Bonjol in writing poetry. This problem choose to catch the ability of student and to know the level of the student’s ability in writing poetry seeing by the aspects of the use of figure speech, the use of imagery and use of diction. The discussion of this poetry choosen because the student’s do not understand how to develop the elements of poetry. In addition less precise method used by the teacher in learning especially in learning to write poetry is not appropriate.This type of research  is quantitative with descriptive method. This research uses picture media. The used theory is about learning writing from Suyatno, with aims to student’s can write fastly based on the picture is viewed. The population of this research is the student’s of class VII SMP N 2 Bonjol, even the samples are student’s class VII.1 and class VII.2 with amounts to 50 people with purposive sampling technique. This research data is poetry text written by the student’s based on the three aspects these are the use of figure of speech, the use of imagery, and the use of diction.Based on the analysis of the data show that the ability in writing creative poetry using picture media class VII SMP N 2 Bonjol Pasaman regency are in over enough of analification (from the count average 68%) with details (a) the use of figure of speech classified nearly enough with the level of control 48%, (b) the use of imagery classified very good with the level of control 87,2%, (c) the use of diction more than enough with the level of control 71%. Based on data analysis above it can be concluded that the ability in writing creative poetry using picture media of student’s class VII SMP N 2 Bonjol Pasaman regency is in more than enough analification with the level of control 68%.

Abstract

The background of this research there are three things: First, lack of interest and attention of students to read poetry with attention to elements of poetry readings. Second, students understand and appreciate the difficulty of reading poetry. Third, no teachers using media, such as videos of poetry readings. This study aims to describe the ability to read poetry class VII student of Junior High School Negeri 2 Lembah Gumanti Kabupaten Solok.This research is quantitative and qualitative descriptive method. The study population was all students in class VII Junior High School Negeri 2 Lembah Gumanti Kabupaten Solok., totaling 185 students. The sample was numbered VII B class (30 students). Sampling technique, which aims sample (purposive sample). This research instrument is the use of performance tests conducted by a choice of three poetry titles that have been previously determined .Based on the analysis of data, it can be seen that a qualifying acquisition of the average value of the ability to read poetry class VII B Junior High School Negeri 2 Lembah Gumanti Kabupaten Solok, viewed from the aspect of rhythm is more than enough qualifications to the acquisition value of the average 72 %, judging from aspect of the volume is in good qualification with an average acquisition value of 87 %. Aspect of this volume include the category obtained the highest level of mastery students. An examination of the expression is the value of qualified enough to gain an average of 57 % and kinesik seen from the aspect of the content of the poem is in accordance with the qualifying acquisition is less with an average value of 43 %. Generally located on more than enough qualifications to the acquisition of the average value of 2.075/30 = 69 % with a range ( 66-75 %).Therefore, it is expected to Indonesian language and literature teachers to improve their learning and reading poetry teacher should use instructional media when reading poetry, such as video displays poetry readings , in order to motivate students to read. Students are also expected to continue to practice reading poetry, so the ability to read a poem using rhythm, volume, expression, and kinesik is in perfect qualifications.

Abstract

The novel is a story that takes some union issues that are raised as sadness , joy , treachery , honesty , and other life problems . Social conflict is conflict that occurs as a result of human social contact with other people . Conflict can be found in all walks of life.The method used in this research is descriptive method . Descriptive method decomposes the data means in the form of words or pictures, not in the form of figures . The aim is to create a description , picture systematic , factual , and accurate statement of the facts, attributes and relationships anatar investigated phenomenon , so saw the quality or the quality of the object of scrutinyOutcomes Research ( 1 ) Social Conflict shape divided in two : (a ) Individual Conflict With Family Circle ( b ) Conflict Individuals With Social Circle . ( 2 ) Cause Social Conflict or matter giving rise to social conflicts . that the cause of social conflict can occur from a variety of factors namely economic factors , particularly poverty and cultural background differences . ( 3 ) Impact of Social Conflict is the result of social conflicts arising .Based on the results of research on social conflict in the novel Land Tabu Anindita work . S Thayf , it can be concluded that Mabel , Mace , and Leksi as protagonist experiencing social conflict that is individuals with conflicts within a family. While individual conflicts within society experienced by Mabel figures only.

Abstract

The problems that will be tell in this research is the students ability in writing  persuasive paragraphs by using poster at class X in SMA Negeri 16 Padang. Based on the problems above, the purpose of this research is to know the students wryiting ability about persuasive paragraphs by using poster at class X in SMA Negeri 16 Padang.This kind of this research is quantitative research by using descriptive methods. The data were collected by using writing test persuasive paragraphs. The data analyzed consist of five levels based on a scale of 10. The population in this research was all of this students of class X SMA Negeri 16 Padang 2012-2013 year. The total of the population was 288, and the sample of this research was 36 people.After analysis, the research found that the student writing ability in write persuasive paragraphs by using media poster was as follows. First, based on the in indicators of the sentence contains an invitation, the qualification of the students was good with an value of 83,88 %. Second, based on the data indicator data and the fact, the qualification of the student was good with an value of 81.1 %. Third based on the this opinion indicators, the student the qualification of the student was good with an value of 92 %.

Abstract

The background of this research because the student’s ability in writing persuasive paragraph is lower. The goal of this research is to describe  the ability of the first year students in writing persuasive paragraph by using product advertisement media.The theoretical foundations which are used in this research,as follows : The definition of writing,  Kinds of paragraph and defenition of persuasive paragraph that according to Atmazaki. Kind of the research is the quantitative research by using descriptive method.The population in this research is the first year students of SMAN 9 Padang who had registered in academic 2012/2013. The sample of this research is the first year students of SMAN 9 Padang who choosed by random sampling and total sample are 39 students. The data of this research was score of students ability In writing persuasive paragraph at the first year students of SMAN 9 Padang by using product advertisement media. The goal of this research, as follow : First, the ability of the first year students at SMAN 9 Padang in writing persuasive paragraph by using product advertisement media for data indicator and fact that appropriate with media is more than Enough ( mean 71,15). Second, the ability of the first year students at SMAN 9 Padang in writing persuasive paragraph by using product advertisement media for persuade indicator is Good ( mean 76 ). Third, the ability of the first year students at SMAN 9 Padang in writing persuasive paragraph by using product advertisement media for logic sentence indicator is Very Good ( mean 85,25). Fourth, the ability of the first year students at SMAN 9 Padang in writing persuasive paragraph by using product advertisement media for validity sentence indicator is Enough ( mean 62,17). Based on the conclution from those four indicators we concluded that the ability of the first year students at SMAN 9 Padang in writing persuasive paragraph by using product advertisement media belong to more than Enough ( mean 73,55).

Abstract

The background of this research was students’ ability of MTsN Talaok to find the main idea of the new text was not maximized. The problem above because students’ interest in reading was low, students’ knowledge about main idea and write of main idea was not maximized. The teachers’ variety in teach still minimal. So the students bored to follow of study. Purpose of the research was to describe the ability of find out the main idea in news text through skimming reading at grade VIII Of students MTsN Talaok Bayang Sub South Coast.            This research used Agustina’s (2008) opinion that theory about understanding of reading, the purpose of reading, type of reading, and find of main idea. The design of the research was quantitative with describe that ability of find out the main idea in news text through skimming reading at grade VIII Of students MTsN Talaok consist of. 1 student got very good. 7 students got good. 7 students got more than sufficient. 2 students got sufficient. 6 students got nearly enough. 2 students got least. 4 students got poor. 1 students got bad. The conclusion of this research to describe the ability of find out the main idea in news through skimming reading at grade VIII of students MTsN Talaok was not achieve maximum because value of average was 59,8 with level in the range 56–65%

Abstract

The problem in this research is the writing that was written Indonesian incompatible with standard Indonesian. Of the characteristics of the language used in the advertisement billboards do not have to use a standard language so that researchers would like to describe the use of language on the billboard of the standard and non-standard language. This study aimed to describe the use of standard and non-standard language on the billboard in photocopy shops around campus STKIP PGRI West Sumatra Padang seen from spelling and punctuation.              This research is a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study were taken from the advertisement in photocopy shops around campus STKIP PGRI West Sumatra Padang. Object of study is the standard and non-standard language seen from spelling and punctuation. Research instrument uses a camera to photograph the billboard at photocopy shops around campus STKIP PGRI West Sumatra Padang. The technique used to obtain the data is done with the documentation that is taken with the photograph in the advertisement copy shop then analyzed by (1) identifying the data, (2) classifying the data, (3) analyze, (4) draw conclusions.              Results of data analysis can be see of 20 billboards language that found as many as 222 consists of writing 193 words and punctuation as much as 29. Non-standard language found 278 consists of writing 238 words and punctuation as much as 40. It can be concluded that the use of language in the advertisement copy in stores around campus STKIP PGRI West Sumatra Padang language used many using non-standard language. In accordance with the characteristics of billboards that billboards use interesting language, easy to understand, short, memorable and exciting. Standard language for comparison in the study.

Abstract

The back ground of this observe are. First a students are seace to get a bad response pens are not afraid to get a good response from their friends in the classroom. It is a major factor in students not confident expressing their ideas orally results through speaking activities. Second, lack of interest and attention of students in learning to talk like drama and role play. Third, the use of techniques that are less interesting and too monotonous to wear a long lesson. This research is quantitative research design types exsperimen. The population in this study were students of class XI SMA PGRI 2 Padang registered in 2011/2012. Number of students is 111 students spread into 3 classes. Sampling was done by purposive random sampling technique. Researchers determined that XI1 class is 31 people as the control class and the class that numbered 30 XI2 IPS as a second grade class experiment, the writers choose as a class sample.The results showed as follows. First, the results of speaking skills is known that the average ability of students to speak without using the technique of playing the role of class XI IPS1 with an average value of 62.90 which is in the range 56-65% which kualisifikasinya "enough". Second, the results in this study students speaking ability by using role-playing techniques class XI IPS 2 with an average value of 74.80 which is in the range 66-75% which kualisifikasinya "more than enough". Based on the classification results using the talk test konfersi 10 scale. Third, there are differences in student learning outcomes without the use of role playing techniques and by using the technique of playing a role in learning speaking class XI SMA PGRI 2 Padang significantly from the use of techniques of playing the role of t-test results on the level of 95% (α = 0, 05) t = 3.73 t table = 1.645 thus HI accepted.

Abstract

This research is distributed by the conflict in and around the maze of life of a character named Fanton Drummond are often faced with a less supportive environment desires. Formulation of this research is "how the psychology of character in a novel Olenka Fanton Drummond works Budi Darma review of aspects of the id, ego, and superego?" The purpose of this study is to describe and explain the conflict of the main character works Budi Darma novel Olenka review of aspects of the id, ego, and superego using the theory proposed by Sigmund Freud.This research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. The data in this study in the form of text and dialogue monologue sentences. Data sources of this study is novel Olenka Budi Darma work. The research was carried out by stages: (1) read and understand the novel Olenka work Budi Darma, (2) identify and classify the data contained in the novel Olenka work Budi Darma, (3) determine the aspects of the conflict of the id, ego, and superego, (4 ) analyzing the data, (5) prove and formulate conclusions.Analysis of the data showed that the main character (Fanton Drummond) conflict, (1) aspects of id make Fanton Drummond has desires that are wild and not terkonrol to Olenka and MC, (2) aspects of the ego makes Fanton Drummond became hard to maintain figure impact on the opinion itself, (3) aspects of the superego made aware of his mistake Fanton Drummond who maintains his ego has been to make Fanton Drummond stuck into a variety of difficult situations. Suggestions in this study are not expected for readers concerned with the ego, and the balance between the id, ego, and superego.
