Abstract

Curcumin is one of secondary metabolites with phenolic group which was known tohave various biological activities such as antimicroba, anticancer, antioxidant, antitumorand anti-inflammatory activities. In this research, curcumin analog of 1-benzil-4-piperidone derivative was synthesized using microwave irradiation with catalyst NaOH.The rendement (YN 2 ) resulted 99.39%. All compounds were characterized using UVspectrophotometer, IR spectrophotometer, 1 H NMR, and 13 C NMR spectrometers. Theantibacterial activity was evaluated using the agar diffusion method. Antibacterialactivity test was carried out at concentrations of 20, 30, 40, 50 , and 60 mg/disc againstGram positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis) and Gramnegative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Salmonella enteritidis). YN 2 compoundsobtained showed different antibacterial activity against different bacteria.

Abstract

This paper discusses three ratio estimators for the population mean in simple randomsampling using coefficient of variation and median of an auxiliary variable, which is areview from the article of Subramani and Kumarapandiyan. All estimators are biased,then their mean square errors (MSE) are determined. Furthermore, the mean squareerrors are compared to show which estimator is the most efficient estimator. This paperreveals that the estimator using coefficient of variation and the median has the smallestmean square error (MSE).

Abstract

This article discusses three ratio-cum-product estimators for the population mean usingthe coefficient of correlation on simple random sampling i.e. ratio-cum-productestimator, dual ratio-cum-product estimator, and combination dual ratio-cum-productestimator. The three estimators are biased estimators. Then the mean square errors aredetermined. Furthermore, these mean square errors are compared to the mean squareerror of each estimator. This comparison shows that the combination dual ratio-cum-product estimator using coefficient of correlation is more efficient than other estimators.

Abstract

This article discusses the modification of Adomian decomposition method to solve anonlinear wave equation. Some numerical examples are used to show the effectivenessof the method. The numerical result show that the solution obtained through themodification of Adomian decomposition method is better than the solutions obtainedusing Adomian decomposition method.

Abstract

This paper discusses the alternative construction of Nagel point, that is the point formedby intersection of three vertices of a triangle which is connected to the points oftangency of the excircle with the opposite sides. This alternative constructionhas beenshown to pass through the incircle. Then, this paper also discusses about outer Nagelpoint(semi Nagel point) and prove the concurrence of the Nagel point.

Abstract

This paper discussed about three the ratio-product estimators for mean population in thestratified random sampling. It is combinations of ratio estimator and product estimatorin stratified random sampling. This paper is a review from the paper of Tailor et.al.[Communications of the Korean Statistical Society 18:111-118]. The estimatorsdiscussed are the combination of ratio-product estimator, combination of ratio-productestimator using coefficient of variation and combination of ratio-product estimator usingcoefficient of kurtosis. All of estimators are bias estimator. Then the mean square error(MSE) of each estimator is evaluated. Furthermore, the MSE of each estimator iscompared. This comparison shows that the combination of ratio-product estimator is themost efficient, that is with the smallest MSE.

This article discusses a factorization of algebraic polynomial of order n using theEuclidean method and the greatest common factor. The new polynomial is equivalentto the original polynomial. The new polynomial is formed by multiplication of the rootsof the original polynomial.

Abstract

This article discusses the three moments formed from the accumulation of due annuitywith random interest rate. The highest moment of these three moments is obtained byfirst determining the previous two moments. Moment accumulation is used to predictthe accumulation of profits expected by investors from an investment made during nperiods.

Abstract

This paper discusses the relationship between the Nagel triangle and the originaltriangle. The Nagel triangle is formed by connecting the three of tangent points of theexcircle to the sides of the triangle. This relationship can be shown through thecollinearity of centroid and incenter of the original triangle to Nagel point of the Nageltriangle. Then, the relationship between the area of the Nagel triangle and the area of theoriginal triangle is shown.

Abstract

This paper discusses three ratio estimators for population variance in simple randomsampling using quartiles of the auxiliary variable given by Subramani andKumarapandiyan [International Journal of Statistics and Applications., 2(5): 67-72].The estimators discussed are the ratio estimator using the first quartile, the third quartileand the inter-quartile range. These three estimators discussed are biased estimators.Furthermore, their mean square errors are compared to show which one is the mostefficient estimator. This comparison shows that the ratio estimator using inter-quartilerange is the most efficient estimator.
