Abstract

Tofu liquid waste is rich in micro and macro nutrients that can be used to grow microalgae such as Chlorella sp. To understand the effectiveness of the waste as a medium to grow Chlorella sp., a study was conducted from March – May 2016. Different amount of waste was mixed with aquadest, there were P0 (0% waste), P1 (65% waste), P2 (75% waste) and P3 (85% waste) were used as nutrient source for the microalgae that were cultured for 20 days. Parameters measured were the abundance and biomass of Chlorella sp., nitrate and phosphate concentration, CO2, pH, and temperature. Results shown that the best growth of Chlorella sp. was in the P3, the abundance was 18.46 x 106 cells/ml and biomass was 0.70 g/l. The growth of Chlorella sp. was able to reduce the nitrate and phosphate concentration, from 7.09 to 0.23 mg/l and from 1.04 to 0.40 mg/l respectively. This fact indicates that the nutrients have been used for growing the microalgae. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the tofu liquid waste can be used as medium for growing Chlorella sp. Keywords: Tofu liquid waste, nutrient, medium, Chlorella sp.

Abstract

Fish pond water is rich in micro and macro nutrients originated from feces and fish feed remains and it may be used to grow the microalgae such as Chlorella sp. A study to understand the growth of Chlorella sp in the pond water media and the amount of nutrient used was conducted from January – March 2016. The Chlorella sp. was grown indoor and outdoor. Parameters measured were Chlorella sp. biomass, nitrate and phosphate content. Samplings were conducted once/10 days. Results shown that Chlorella sp. grow well in the pond water. The biomass of indoor Chlorella sp. was higher than that of the outdoor (0.005 g/L and 0.003 g/L respectively). Nitrate and phosphate content was decreased during the experiment, the nitrate was reduced by 7.4 mg/L (indoor) and 9.4 mg/L (outdoor), while the phosphate was reduced by 0.09 mg/L (indoor) and 0.26 mg/L (outdoor). Based on data obtained that the waste can be used to grow microalgae Chlorella sp. Keywords: Fish pond water, Chlorella sp., indoor, outdoor

Abstract

This research was intented to determine the effect of difference of using heat source dryer on the quality of Catfish (Mystus nemurus). The used method in this research was experimental, which using Complete Random Design (CRD). The treatment consists of three levels of treatment, namely M (solar source heat), L (Electrical energy source heat), and G (Gas energy source heat). drying time treatment is on three levels is 0 hours (T0), 3 hours (T1), 6 hours (T2), and 9 hours (T3). The used parameters are organoleptic value, water content, the value of fat content, protein content value and peroxide value. The results showed that the best treatment received L1 (Electrical energy source heat), with 10.29% average water content, 24.38% average fat content, 29.55 % average protein content, and also 2.91%. average peroxide. Keywords : Dryers, heat source, quality, Mystus nemurus, Drying

Abstract

This research was objected to determine the effect of different extraction solvents on the quality of black sea cucumber (Holothuria edulis) protein concentrate. The characteristic and quality of the black sea cucumber protein concentrate produced were determined by assessing the rendemen, proximate composition, and total amino acid. This research was conducted in two phases, namely: 1) production of black sea cucumber powder, and 2) production of black protein concentrate by using different extraction solvents, namely: ethanol, acetone, and chloroform. The result showed that the using of different extraction solvents was significantly affected on the characteristic of black sea cucumber protein concentrate. Ethanol was indicated the best solvent to extract the black sea cucumber to yield 80,42% protein concentrate. The product was contained total ash 25.03%, moisture 5.4%,  protein 61.32%,  fat 0.5%, and the total amino acid 14.14%. Keywords : protein concentrate, extraction, extractor solution, sea cucumber.

Abstract

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) has been applied as probiotic mainly to prevent pathogens. This group of bacteria can be found in marine fish products including fermented, shrimp product, cincaluk. The objective of this research was to isolate LAB from cincaluk, and examined the activity against pathogen V. alginolyticus and A. hydrophila. The research was conducted on March-Juny, total of 12 isolates were obtained from cincaluk survey method. The result of research showed that all isolates round, creamy white, smooth-edged, raised surface, and the size is 1.0 to 3.0 mm. The physiological and biochemical test showed that get all isolates had a Gram-positive, catalase positive and are indole negative, 10 isolates were motile, as many as five isolates have citric positive, 10 isolates is Methyl Red (+), all isolates ferment sucrose and lactose, while only 9 isolates ferment glucose, and as much as 6 isolates that produce sulfide. All isolates were found to have inhibitory effects against bacteria V. alginolyticus and A. hydrophila. The highest antimicrobial activity is indicated by B isolates with an average diameter of 12.3 mm and inhibition zone antivibrio activity of 6.3 units. Isolates B with an average diameter of inhibition zone of 9.7 mm and 3.7 units antiaeromonas activity. Keywords: Isolation, Lactic Acid Bacteria, Cincaluk, V. alginolyticus, A. hydrophila

Abstract

PERMEN-KP No.2 Tahun 2015 Policy has caused the pros and cons in the society. This study aims to determine how big the impact of these policies on the economy of Fishers as well as the right solution to minimize negative impacts. The research was conducted in February 2016 by 14 Fishermen as respondents in the village of Raja Bejamu, Sinaboi District Riau Province. This study use field survey by interviewing fishermen and their responses before and after the policy. Data shows 21% of fishermen pro and 79% cons with the policy as well as 3 of the 14 fishers claim there is a decrease in their income as a result of the implementation of this rule. The grants to switch catching tool and the grace period is considered to be one of the appropriate solutions to minimize the negative impact. From the results of this study concluded that this policy does not impact to the economy significantly, but there are some obstacles such as the high cost of switching the catching tool and the societies that have been so dependent on the use of cantrang. So it takes a proper solution that the policy should not be a clash between the interests of the government and fishermen. Keywords : Economic Impact, PERMEN-KP No.2 Tahun 2015, Responses of Fishers, Solutions
