Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the validity of pop scrapbook learning media based on animated cartoon characters Spongebob Squarepants and The Lion King on the material kingdom animalia developed for class X SMA. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D). The development of pop scrapbook media was validated by validators, namely the Biology Education Lecturer at the FKIP University of Riau, the biology teacher at SMAN 1 Pekanbaru and the biology teacher at SMAS Kalam Kudus Pekanbaru. The research was carried out from November 2022. The data collection instrument that was carried out was a validation sheet. In terms of the content aspect, the average score was 3.50 with a very valid category, from the linguistic aspect, the average score was 3.50 with a very valid category, from the presentation aspect, a score of 3.38 was obtained with a very valid category, and from the aspect of overall appearance, an average score of 3.50 with a very valid category. The average validation result for pop scrapbook media based on animated cartoon characters Spongebob Squarepants and The Lion King for class X high school animal kingdom material received an average score of 3.47 in a very valid category. Based on these data, it can be concluded that pop scrapbook media based on animated cartoon characters Spongebob Squarepants and The Lion King on animal kingdom material for class X SMA provides very valid criteria and is worth testing at a later stage.Key Word: Pop scrapbook, Animated cartoon, Animal kingdom

Abstract

Abstrak: This study discusses the influence of the mind mapping method in learning reading comprehension. In this study, the researchers conducted a study to find out whether there were significant differences in the reading comprehension ability of class 2020 students before and after using the mind mapping method. The type of research used was pre-experimental with the One Group Pretest-Posttest research design. The samples in this study were students of class 2020 of the Riau University Japanese Language Education Study Program with a total of 27 people. Then the material used for the pre-test and post-test was taken from the ふくむすめ童話集小学生童話 website (hukumusume douwa shuu shougakusei douwa), while for the treatment given the material was taken from the Evergreen Japanese Course website.Keywords: Mind Mapping, Dokkai, Eksperimen

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted to analyze the difficulty level in using gerund and infinitive. The design of this research is descriptive quantitative. The participants of this study were 37 students that currently study in their sixth semester of English Study Program of Universitas Riau and they were selected by cluster random sampling. In collecting data, the researcher used a test. After getting the data, the researcher analyzed them to determine of students’ difficulty level in using gerund and infinitive. The result of data analysis showed the highest percentage of difficulty in using gerund and infinitive are gerund as a direct object 47% and to infinitive as an object, to infinitive as an adjective and bare infinitive after ‘would rather’ or ‘had better’ was 45%. In conclusion, to solve the difficulty part of gerund and infinitive there must be a way to solve them in the teaching of gerund and infinitive.Key Words: Difficulties, Gerund, Infinitive.

Abstract

Abstract: Writing is one of the basic skill that must be mastered by students or learners to comprehend English. However, it is difficult to do for some reason. The Objectives of this research are (1) to find out whether there is an effect of POWER Strategy on third-year senior high school students’ explanation text writing ability or not and (2) to find out whether there is any significant difference on the third-year senior high school students’ explanation text writing ability between those who are taught using POWER Strategy and those who are not. This research used a quantitative approach and the research design is quasi-experimental with 58 students as the sample. The samples of this research were XII MIPA 1 as Experiment Group and XII IPS 1 as Control Group, selected by using cluster random sampling. The instrument of the data collection is a written test, the data was analyzed by using SPSS 26.The results of this research were (1) there is an effect of POWER Strategy on third-year senior high school students’ explanation text writing ability proved by the result of Independent Sample T-Test, which is the significant two-tailed is 0.000 lower than Alpha 0.05 and Ha (1) is accepted. (2) there is a difference on the third-year senior high school students’ explanation text writing ability between experiment group and control group but the difference is not significant because the results of the mean score for both groups are still in the same range of mean score (Good). This is proved by the mean score of the experiment group’s post-test (74.79) is higher than the mean score of the control group’s post-test (71.17).Key Words: POWER Strategy, Writing Ability, Explanation Text.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims (1) to determine children's ethnomathematics abilities before being treated at the Cultural Market in children aged 5-6 years at Kindergarten Al-Husna Pekanbaru. (2) To find out children's Ethnomathematics abilities after being treated at the Cultural Market in children aged 5-6 years at TK Al-Husna Pekanbaru. (3) To find out whether there is an influence of the Cultural Market on Ethnomatematics Ability in children aged 5-6 years at TK-Al Husna Pekanbaru. This research is a quantitative experimental research using a one group pretest posttest design. The study population was 17 children aged 5-6 years at TK Al-Husna Pekanbaru, the sample used was 17 children. The data collection carried out in this study was by observing the pretest and posttest. The data analysis technique in this study used the t-test using the SPSS version 23 program. Based on the normalized gain, there is a significant effect. When researchers used the Cultural Market Role Playing Method to improve Ethnomatematics Ability in children aged 5-6 years at TK Al-Husna Pekanbaru by 65.34%. Referring to the results of using the G formula, it can be seen that the category of increase is 65.34% in the medium category. So it can be concluded from the results of this study that there is a significant influence in developing Ethnomatematics Ability using the Cultural Market Role Playing Method in children aged 5-6 years at Al-Husna Kindergarten PekanbaruKeywords: Cultural Market, Ethnomatics

Abstract

Abstract: This research reviews students’ perceptions of English online learning in senior high school during pandemic Covid-19. The research was aimed to determine students’ perceptions of English online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The objective of the research is to get information about the students’ perceptions in online learning during pandemic especially in learning English at SMAN 5 Dumai. The Population of this research is the third - year students of SMAN 5 Dumai. The whole number of the population is about 227 students which consist of 7 classes. This study used cluster random sampling technique. Three of the classes is taken as the sample as many as 100 students. This research design used descriptive-quantitative method as the research data approach. There were 15 items in the questionnaire. The data was analyzed using a Likert-scale for the responses of questionnaire. The questionnaire were collected through Questionnaire Form. The findings showed that The findings of this study were revealed that there were differently according to the data questionnaire students selected previously, mostly stated contradictive perception negatively to the implementation of online learning. students considered normal to fosters students to create personal learning mode during pandemic situation which forces have limited interaction in classroom activities directly with teachers or classmates.Keywords: Perception, Online Learning

Abstract

Abstrak: This research was conducted to determine the application of palm sugar to the organoleptic nata de sago and the design of biotechnology subject matter booklets for class XII high school level. This research was carried out in 2 stages, namely the experimental stage: the effect of palm sugar on the quality of nata de sago and the second stage of booklet design: analysis of the potential for developing teaching materials for biotechnology subject matter for class XII high school students. This study used an experimental method by conducting experiments at the Mathematics and Educational Sciences Education Laboratory (PMIPA), Pekanbaru. Sampling was carried out in a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications. The parameters in this study were thickness analysis, acidity (pH) analysis, and organoleptic tests. Based on the results of the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at the 5% level, palm sugar administration showed a highly significant different effect on the organoleptic of nata de sago. the administration of 100 grams of palm sugar gave the best increase in the quality of nata de sago and based on an analysis of the potential of the research results it could be used as a design material booklet for class XII high school biotechnology subjects.Kata Kunci : Organoleptik Nata de sago, Rancangan Booklet, Gula Aren

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine verbal communication skills, social behavior, the relationship between oral communication skills and social behavior of children aged 5-6 years in Kindergarten Pembina II Pekanbaru City. The location of this research will be carried out at Pembina II Kindergarten in Pekanbaru, while this research is planned to be carried out at the end of November 2022. The population and samples in this study are the same, namely 53 children aged 5-6 years in Pembina 2 Kindergarten, Kota Pekanbaru. The data collection technique used in this study is a non-test, namely the type of observation. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, a conclusion can be drawn: the oral communication skills of children in Kindergarten Pembina II are mostly in the Developing According to Expectations (BSH) category. Most children's social behavior is included in the Developing According to Expectations (BSH) category. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, the two variables have a significant relationship. This can be seen from the results of the study where a significant value in the correlation test was obtained for 5.874 ≥ 1.701 so it can be concluded that the relationship between children's verbal communication skills and children's social behavior is significant with a significant level of 5%.Keywords: Relationship Oral Communication Ability, Social behavior

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to investigate the types and purposes of code-mixing used in “Ini Talkshow” You Tube videos. The research utilized a descriptive qualitative and documentation method. The source of the data in this study are from 5 “Ini Talkshow” You Tube videos entitled “Ayu Gani Valerie dan Veronika malah takut sama Om Yoo, Cie Andre malu ketauan niruin Chef Juna, Unseen Before Sule dan Nabila syok lihat pria tampan pakai sertifikat, Unseen Before Turis jauh taunya cuma modus, Unseen Before Woowww Michelle Joan klepek klepek sama gombalan Dede”which was published on 2021. The chosen videos provided with appropriate Indonesian-English code-mixing and usedto obtain the data by writing the transcript of the conversation, then a data sheet used as a secondary instrument. The data sheet takes the form of a table to record the classified information, which are displays two goals that became the study’s focus: the types and purposes of code-mixing.The result of the data analysis showed that a total of 55 instances of code-mixing within the utterances. In terms of types, 47 instances of Intra-Sentential code-mixing and 8 instances of Intra-Lexical code-mixing were found. Regarding the purposes of code-mixing, 23 utterances were categorized as fulfilling Lexical Needs, 11 utterances aimed at Being more Informative, 10 utterances were intended to assert Power, Status, and Pride, 7 utterances reflected a sense of Incompetence, 3 utterances were used for Making Jokes, and 1 utterance served the purpose of Expressing Emotion.The propensity for hosts and guest stars to engage in intra-sentential code-mixing, blending languages within words during their utterances, is notably driven by their preference for satisfying lexical requirements. The writer anticipates that these findings will yield considerable advantages by enhancing comprehension regarding code-mixing and shedding light on the reasons behind its widespread phenomenon in contemporary society.Key Word: Analysis, Code-Mixing, You Tube video, Ini Talkshow
