Abstract

Problems encountered in the prevention and treatment of  HIV/AIDS in Tasikmadu Karanganyar is the poor ability of the community to identify local health issues (HIV/AIDS). The purpose of this study is to examine and identify the factors related to the ability of communities to identify local health problems in HIV/AIDS in Tasikmadu Karanganyar. The study was observasonal analytic cross sectional design. The population in this study were all health cadres in Puskesmas Tasikmadu Karanganyar. The sample was 90 people taken by cluster random sampling technique. Independent variable was the level of education, access to information, the survey introspective, leadership and the dependent variable was the ability of communities to identify local health issues (HIV/AIDS ). The research instrument was questionnaire used to collect data. The analysis of this study used regression multiple linear. The results showed that the level of education, access to health information, surveys introspective and leadership contributed to the increased capacity of communities to identify local health issues (HIV/AIDS) by 74%. The conclusions in this study is no significant effect simultaneously and education level, access to health information, surveys introspective and leadership to the ability of communities to identify local health issues (HIV/AIDS) at p = 0.000.   Keywords: Identification, Health Issues, Local, HIV/AIDS

Abstract

The quality nursing Diploma graduates are skilled and least visible when dealing with patien. The emergency problems assosiated with the lack of quality of the selection system is receiving less attention to the motivation to be a nurse from prospectives students. The second is less skill in handling cases of nursing practice in the hospital so that students are less confident and less skilled in performing the procedure act. The purpose of this research was to analyze the relationship between motivation to be a nurse and nursing skills laboratory practice courses I basic human needs. The study was quantitative research with cross sectional approach. The population was first rate student, using simple random sampling. Validity and reliability was tested by using Product Moment test and Alpha Chonbrach. Data analysis by using the Product Moment Chorelation hypotesis one and two Followed Dual Linear Regression on three hypotheses with the significant level of 5%. Data collection by questionnaire. The conclusions of this study, there was no relationship between motivation to be anurse and the nursing skills laboratory practice (r = 0.151, p> 0.05).   Keywords: Motivation, practical laboratory skills

Abstract

Pre Menstrual Syndrome (PMS) is collection of physical symptoms, psychological, and emotion associated with the menstrual cycle. Approximately 80 to 90 percent of women at child-bearing age experience pre menstrual symptoms that can interfere aspects of her life. The symptoms are usually predictable and occur regularly on a two-week period before menstruation. Based on a preliminary survey conducted by the researchers by interviewing five SMKN 9 Surakarta students, the results showed that the most important symptoms of pre-menstrual was breast pain. In addition, they also experienced abdominal pain, body fatigue, dizziness, and decreased concentration. The purpose of this study is to know overview of the signs and symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome in young women in SMKN 9 Surakarta. This research used descriptive survey research method. The sample was taken by random sampling technique for 132 people. The instrument was  a questionnaire with univariat analysis. The results showed that the signs and symptoms of pre menstrual syndrome experienced by in young women in the form physical symptoms the most were changes in appetite 72,7 % (96 people), form of psychological symptoms experienced the most were irritabilitas (easily offended) 87,1 % (115 people), form of behavioral symptoms the most experienced were loss of concentration 39,4 % (52 people), as well as additional symptoms not listed in questionnaire appeared the most were abdominal pain 20,5 % (27 people). The conclusions in this study is overview of the signs and symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome in young women in SMKN 9 Surakarta is the young women experienced physical symptoms (38,50%) , psychological symptoms (58,30%), behavioral symptoms (27,4%), additional symptoms not listed in questionnaire appears (4,2%).   Keywords: Signs and Symptoms, Pre Menstrual Syndrome, Young Women

Abstract

The increasing life expectancy of the population in Indonesia, causing the number of elderly people is increasing from year to year. The prediction results showed that the percentage of the elderly population will reach 9.77 percent of the total population in 2010 and to 11.34 percent in 2020. The problems that often arise in the elderly one of them a form of intellectual cognitive disorder or senile dementia. Dementia is a clinical syndrome that includes loss of intellectual function and memory so serious that it causes dysfunction of everyday life. The purpose of this study to know the changes in memory elderly in Panti Wreda Darma Bakti Surakarta. This study used a descriptive method with cross sectional approach. The population in this study a total of 90 elderly. Sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, the number of respondents 60 elderly. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The research instrument using the Short Portable Mental Status Questionnaire (SPMSQ) to measure dementia. Analysis of the data using univariate analysis. The results showed most respondents in the older group (54-65 years) is10 persons (16.7%), and 50 elderly people at risk (83.35). Elderly with mild dementia 11 persons (18.3%), dementia was 21 persons (35%) and severe dementia 28 persons (46.7%). The conclusions in this study, elderly in nursing homes Darma Bakti Surakarta majority including the elderly at risk and most experienced dementia (memory loss) in severe.   Keywords: Dementia, Elderly

Abstract

Education games is a game tool that can provide an optimal games functions and development of the children, where the children through it will always be able to develop their physical abilities, language, cognitive abilities, and social adaptation. The results of a preliminary study conducted in Kindergarten Aisyiyah Karanggayam Sumber Simo Boyolali about knowledge of mothers about education games for preschool children. From interviewing 8 mothers, founded 2 mothers knew nothing about education games, 3 mothers knew about education games, and 3 mothers hesitated when expressing types of educational games. The purpose of this study is to know the picture of the level of mother’s knowledge about education games of preschool children in Kindergarten Aisyiyah Karanggayam Sumber Simo Boyolali. This research was descriptive. The population in this research was all mothers had children school in Kindergarten Aisyiyah Karanggayam Sumber Simo Boyolali. The sample method was total sampling. The instrumen used questionnaire that identify the name, age, education, job, and question knowledge about education games. The results showed based on age can be the most dominant are in the age range 27-35 years as many as 20 respondents (66.7%). Mothers knowledge of educational games in preschool children most of the respondents have a good level of knowledge (60%), sufficient (30%), and less (10%). The conclusions in this study is knowledge of mother about education games for preschool children in Kindergarten Aisyiyah Karanggayam Sumber Simo Boyolali was good that percentage 60%.   Keywords: Knowledge, Education games

Abstract

Infuse therapy is an integral part of a nurse’s professional practice. Technique of infuse administration is included in learning of clinical nursing skill. There are several learning methods used in clinical learning, such as, a video of learning. One of advantages of video-assisted learning is the video can show real skill and activity, reduces cost expended in presentation and the use can be repeated. The purposes of the research are to make and develop an effective and efficient learning video in attempt of improving skill of infuse administration of nursing students, to obtain a picture about acceptance and satisfaction of nursing students on materials of the learning video, to know and to test if there is a difference between students who are using the learning video and those who are not, as media of learning.The approach used in developing of the learning media was a quantitative experimental method with factorial 2 x 2 design. After an analysis with two-ways ANOVA, F test was used to examine each factor. Results: There was an effect of using the learning video on skill of infuse administration among the students, there is a different technical skill of infuse administration between students who had used the learning video and those who had not as a media of learning. It could be seen from Fcalculation=5.044 and r value = 0.030<0.05. Conclusion: Students with video as a learning media in learning of infuse administration technique had better skill of infuse administration technique than those who had not used it.   Keywords: Learning video, infuse, nurse

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy can increase the risks of low birth weight infant, premature birth, and impaired fetal growth. The objective of this research is to investigate the difference effect between oral and parenteral iron supplementation on body weights of the infant of anemic pregnant rat. This research used the experimental laboratory research method with the randomized controlled trial design. Thirty rats were divided into three groups and each group consisted of 10 rats. Group I was given an oral iron supplementation, group II was given parenteral iron supplementation, and group III as control group was not given any of such supplementations. This research was conducted until the mother rat gave birth, observed was body weights all of the infant rats with digital scales. The data of the research were analyzed by using Kruskal Wallis then Mann Whitney formula. The results of Kruskal Wallis that the comparisons of the average of groups I, II, and III for body weights of the infant are 6.09±0.40 g: 6.59±0.49 g: 5.81±0.39 g (p<0.001), the results of Mann Whitney that there are a difference body weights of the infant (p<0.001) between oral and parenteral iron suplementation. Based on the results of the research a conclusion is drawn that there is a difference in the body weights of the infant between oral and parenteral iron supplementation. The average body weights of the infant in the parenteral iron supplementation are better than those in the oral iron supplementation.   Keywords:  Iron supplementation, oral, parenteral, pregnancy, anemic rat, body weights of the infant.

Abstract

The prevalence of obesity in Indonesia is expected to increase each year. Many factors contribute to obesity, one of which is quality of sleep. Poor sleep quality lead to increased energy intake and increased sedentary lifestyle that will have an impact on obesity on children. The purpose: to examine whether poor sleep quality are risk factors of obesity in elementary school children in Yogyakarta. A case control study was conducted in 2013. A random sample of 244 obese and 244 grade-matched non obese elementary school students were selected form a cross-sectional survey previously done in the city of Yogyakarta and Bantul regency. Information of sleep quality was collected using sleep self report questionnaires. Sedentary lifestyle  was collected using recall of physical activity during the last week. Nutrient intakes were collected using a food frequency questionnaires. The results showed there was a significant relationship between sleep of quality and obesity, poor sleep quality was 2,28 times more likely to be obese than good sleep quality. After controlled intake energy, gender, and sedentary lifestyle, than children with low quality of sleep was 1.9 (OR = 1.88, 95% CI: 0.95 to 3.71) times more likely to be obese than children with good quality of sleep. However, the association was not statistically significant. The conclusions of this study, poor sleep quality was associatied with increased odds of being obese in elementary school children. Abstract

Zn deficiency is associated with growth failure in toddlers. One of the effects of growth failure in toddlers is indicated by the occurrence of stunting (short). The purpose of this research to determine the effect of zinc supplementation on height difference of stunting toddlers. The research design was randomized pretest posttest control group design. The total of thirty six stunting toddlers were divided into two groups. The treatment group received syrup with 20 mg ZnSO4 twice a week for three months whereas the comparison group received placebo without Zn. The results showed that there was no significant difference in height before Zn supplementation between treatment and comparison groups (p = 0,361). There is no significant difference in height after Zn supplementation between treatment and comparison groups (p = 0,613). There was significant difference in height difference before and after Zn supplementation on both of groups (p = 0,000). The conclusions of this study, there is a difference in height difference before and after Zn supplementation in stunting toddlers.   Keywords: toddlers, stunting, height, Zn

Abstract

The prevalence of pressure sores were reported in homes in the range of 12.9% to 19% (Potter and Perry., 2005). Suheri research results (2009) showed that the length of treatment in the occurrence of decubitus sores on immobilization patient 88.8% with an average on the fifth day of treatment. The results of Kurniawan research (2009) showed nurse knowledge of decubitus 66.7%, the purposes of prevention 59%, and the prevention of pressure sores 51.3%. So it is needed of a research in health centers community working area Karanganyar. The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of the provision of reposition health education with coconut oil. This study was a quantitative study with Randomize Controlled Trial. Assessment of patients using the Norton scale assessment. The research was held for 7 days. There were four groups in this research, namely three treatment groups and one control group. The first treatment group received coconut oil in the region of the scapula, sacrum, and heels plus health education, the second treatment received coconut oil, while a third treatment received health education about repositioning, for the control group received standard preventive care. Statistical tests to determine the effectiveness of using a t-test. The results of the provision of reposition health education with coconut oil was effective for the prevention of pressure sores with p: 0.004.
