Abstract

This research aimed to test and analyze the influence of financial variables (Return on Investment, Profit Margin, Current Ratio and Debt Ratio, Dividend, and Dividend Yield) and macroeconomic variables (Gross Domestic Product, Money Supply, Inflation, Currency, and Interest Rate) stock price altogether. This research used quantitative approach by implementing path analysis method. The research population is all companies listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange in the period of 2001–2007 out of which 52 companies were selected as samples to be observed within 7 (seven) years term resulting in as many as 364 observations. The results of this research indicate that the variables having an effect on dividend were Return on Investment and Net Profit Margin as well as interest rate. The variable having an effect on Dividend Yield were Current Ratio and Debt Equity Ratio and Gross Domestic Product. Furthermore, the variables affecting the interest rate were the Amount of Money Supply, Inflation, and American Dollar Rate to Rupiah. Next, the variables which influenced the stock price were Return on Investment, Current Ratio, Dividend, and Dividend Yield. Finally the variables which had insignificant influence were the variable of Gross Domestic Product to interest rate; the variable of Debt Equity Ratio to dividend; the variable of interest rate to stock price, and; the variable of Gross Domestic Product to stock price.Keywords: financial variables, macroeconomic variable, stock price.

Abstract

Poverty overcoming needs a strategic management because every planning and execution of related activities in a certain long term period have to be evaluated, which its result will be considered in making correction for further planning and program. Concept of empowerment is the most exact method reducing poverty and there should be full concentration of development in grassroots level. This approach focuses on the ability of improving either technical or managerial skills. Another relevant characteristic is development growth performed with a great attention on environmental resources, as well as human resources. Local potential is the basic asset to be a consideration priority of the development activities to be executed. The cause of poverty in Kutai Kartanegara Regency is the combination of structural, cultural, and natural factors altogether, added by factor of entering migration. In reducing poverty, there are some programs, such as: Financial Aid for the Poor, education subvention, healthcare subvention, County Fund Allocation, road hardening in every county, the construction of main road connecting 5 districts in Upstream Kutai, which is still on-going, and National Program of Society Empowerment using joined fund between Central and Local Government. There should be improvement in managing poverty alleviation in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, either in planning, in executing, in monitoring, or in evaluating so that the program may directly have effects on the poor.Keywords: poverty, strategic management, empowerment

Abstract

Economic growth is followed by groowing of amount poverty population, certainty invited some questions, for example: Who did actually enjoy the economic growth? Is economic growth caused by productivity growth or using production factor? Is economic growth be concentated on certain sectors while growing of some orther sector is relative slow until can’t be able to press poverty. This research aim to: explained phenomena of poverty in South Sumatra and explain the source of problem of poverty Pagar Alam City and success in doing poverty program From result of survey is known at 2007, Pagar Alam City constitute one of region in South Sumatra has smallest, Poverty depth Index, namely the third smallest after Prabumulih (0.20) and OKU (0.32), while Pagar Alam City poverty depth index: 0.34. Abstract

This research tried to find the relation among leadership style, organizational culture, commitment, and performance at Village Unit Cooperative in East Java. Specifically, this research aimed at: (1) studying the influence of leadership style and organizational culture to commitment, (2) studying the influence of leadership style and organizational culture to performance, (3) studying the influence of leadership style and organizational culture within commitment to performance. Variables of leadership style are measured using dimensions that are coercive style, authoritative style, affiliative style, democratic style, pacesetting style, and coaching style. Variables of organizational culture are measured using dimensions that are innovation, attention to detail, outcome orientation, people orientation, team orientation, aggressiveness, and stability. While performance variables are measured using dimensions that are vision, capacities, resource, and job network. The result of this research indicates that: (1) leadership style and organizational culture have direct influence that are significant and positive to commitment (2) leadership style and organizational culture have direct influence that are significant and positive to performance, (3) leadership style and organizational culture within commitment have direct influence that are significant and positive to performance. According to the research results that are explained above, the researcher gives the following suggestions: (1) leadership style, organizational culture, and commitment represent variables which need to get special priority to be studied further by future researchers because these variables represent very important elements in taking care of the sustainability of an organization existence at all of level, (2) in order to have a more representative research, the future researchers can add some certain variables, especially moderator variable or intervening variables, that can function as a mediator among leadership style variables, organizational culture, and commitment, (3) the future researches should use more specific analyzer with more modern program, so that there will emerge more research models that are more representative with high level of validity and reliability.Keywords: Leadership style, organizational culture, commitment, and performance

Abstract

This study aims to assess and analyze the effect of government regulation, access to information, competition on business strategy and performance of small scale industries in North Sulawesi. Explanatory research was conducted on four categories of small businesses (manufacturing industry), namely: food and beverages, furniture, tekstile and convection, and silver metal, as many as 200 respondents (sample) were included in the survey using a questionnaire (questionnaire). Respondents are the owner and manager of the business. Sampling technique using a multi-stage random sampling with proportional allocation. This research was conducted in 6 districts (each of the three districts/cities) in North Sulawesi. To analyze the effect of government regulation, access to information, competition on business strategy and performance of small scale industries, use descriptive analysis methods and structural equation modeling (Structural Equation Modeling, SEM) by using the program AMOS (Analysis of Moment Structural). The research concludes that government regulation, and business competition significantly influence the business strategy's. Performance of small industrial businesses significantly affected by government regulation, business competition, through a business strategy. Research findings show that access to information does not significantly influence the business strategy and business performance. Enhancing the performance of small industrial businesses in North Sulawesi was relying on the benefits of differentiation strategy, pricing and promotion supported by a conducive government regulation as the prime mover.Keywords: Government regulation, information Access, competition, business strategy and business performance.

Abstract

The objectives of this research is to analyze the effects of needs and compensations fulfillment on police department (Satreskrim) members job satisfaction. Satreskrim is demanded to always give proper and satisfying service to the society. In increasing service or productive and professional performance, members job satisfaction needs to be fulfilled. This research is a combination of explanatory research, which emphasize the connection between research variables and tests the formulated hypothesis and descriptive research as a next step after explanatory research, which discovers and portrays how big the effect of these variables. The population in this research is Satuan Reserse Kriminal Polres Kota X. Samples are chosen using proportional random sampling method, based on position level. Data collection is using questionnare, interview, observation and documentation. multiple regression analysis is used to process the data. The result of this research shows that needs fulfillment and compensations affects job satisfaction simultaneously. Partially, needs fulfillment doesn’t affect job satisfaction. Whereas, compensations partially affects job satisfaction . Compensations has dominant effect on job satisfaction. Based on the result, researcher needs to suggest the Indonesian Police Department to increase members job satisfaction continuously , so that they will be able to encourage better and professional job performance.Keyword : needs fulfillment, ERG Alderfer, compensation, job satisfaction, police department.

Abstract

This study aims to find a strategy/right model that can be used for poverty reduction by analyzing the effect of poverty alleviation programs in the form of exchange rights to land, direct cash aid, the implementation of the built hamlet on the growth of people’s income level in Wonodadi hamlet. This research is an experimental research that be carried out for 5 months. In the implementation of the experiment, the sample was divided into two groups of free groups and the control group. Once data is collected, the data were analyzed by using regression analysis and one-way anova. From the data analysis has been done can be concluded: first, poverty reduction programs in the form of exchange rights to land can increase people’s income, the second, poverty reduction program in the form of direct cash aid can not improve people’s income, third, built hamlet program implementation can improve the people’s income, fourth, there are income differences between the hamlets that are nurtured and a hamlet that is not nurtured.Keywords: exchange rights to land, direct cash aid, built hamlet.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the tendency ethnocentrism, attitudes, and intentions of consumers in buying shoes product which is made by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) using the concept of ethnocentrism. Ethnocentrism is a sociological concept first introduced by Sumner (1906) which refers to attitudes, beliefs, standards, and the excessive behavior of a personfor something in environment. Shimp and Sharma (1987) says that consumers who are etnocentric consumers who have views about the suitability and moral in buying behavior of foreign products.The sample for this research is 232 students Faculty of Economic, University of Brawijaya. Descriptive statistical methods using frequency distribution, cross tabulation method (crosstabs), and chisquare test of independence are used to analyze data. From this research, it found that there is a tendency of ethnocentrism among students of the Faculty of Economics, University of Brawijaya in selecting at a product. The results also showed that students who have a tendency of ethnocentrism, moderate, and non-ethnocentrism have a positive attitude toward Small and Medium Enterprises. This is evidenced by the students intention to buy Small and Medium Enterprises shoes product, but by considering the factors at affordable prices, quality products, attractive models which is up to date, as well as earned income.Keywords: ethnocentrism tendency, attitudes, intentions

Abstract

The objective of this research is to measure the influence of competitive advantage strategy resources and to the implementation of generic strategy towards furniture small-scale business in Central Java. In details, the objectives f the research are to analyze ad examine (1) the influence of competitive advantage strategy towards the implementation of small-scale generic strategy,(2) the influence of business environment certainty towards competitive advantage strategy and strategy and strategic resources,(3) the influence of competitive advantage strategy towards the performance of small-scale business (4)the influence of business environment certainty towards the implementation of generic strategy of small-scale business,(6) the influence of strategic resource towards the small-scale performance,(7)the influence of strategy implementation towards small-scale business performance. The samples were the 108 small-scale business taken using cluster system from the 248 small-scale business in seven Regency Central Java. The data collecting technique used were structured interview based on the questionnaire and observation. To test the pertern of the cause/effect relationship model having been formed, the researcher used analysis instrument capable of esplaining simultaneousely the Structural (AMOS) Program of 5.00 version. The research result shows that(1) the competitive advantage insignificantly gives positif influence towards the implementation og generic strategy,(2) business environment certainty significantly gives influence towards competitive advantage strategy and strategic generic ,(3) competitive advantage strategy significantly gives positive influence towards business performance,(4) business environment certainty significantly give influence towards business performance,(5) strategic resources significantly give positive influence towards the implementation of generic strategy,(6) strategic resource significantly give positive influence towards business performance, (7) the implementation of generic strategy significantly gives influence towards business performance.Keywords: Competitive advantage strategy business environment , strategic resources, the implementation of generic strategy and business performance.

Abstract

Changing of minimum wage policy option by the actors in 2006 is caused mainly by any change from internal aspects of policy subsystem directly, especially the change of secondary aspects of two advocacy coalition of minimum wage in South Sulawesi. This case mainly influenced from implementation the decentralization aspect where labors or group of labors have also any opportunity to involve in wage policy debate or in the forum of board of Provincial Waging. Furthermore, the Board of Manpower (Dinas Tenaga Kerja) of South Sulawesi Province which is identified as the policy broker has an important role to meet policy subsystem’s different strategies. As a result, conflict of minimum wage between labors and employers can reduce and they can act as a mediator to chooce the wage policy.Keywords: minimum wage, advocacy coalition framework
