Abstract

The use and utilization of ICT for SMEs attract the attention of many parties. The problems of SMEs in Yogyakarta, Indonesia that is so diverse cannot be simplified on the issue of technology adoption. Moreover, increasing competitiveness is necessary so that ICT can truly be a bridging digital disparity. The action research activity is carried out to close the gap which not only focuses on understanding the pattern of technology adoption alone but also involves action steps in helping SMEs to survive and able to compete. The results showed that the SMEs still had difficulty in utilizing ICT from the upstream side. This is triggered by the limitations of existing human capital in managing technical and operational aspects of ICT. Therefore, the strategies to use of ICT for SMEs is recommended to combine a proactive and reactive approach so that the optimization of resources will be achieved. Accordingly, we suggest that further studies apply the implementation of ICT on proactive and reactive actions to close the knowledge gap between the two in a different setting, context, location, and/or culture.

This study aims to examine some factors affecting the financial performance of manufacturing companies in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This research uses data on the financial statements of 20 manufacturing companies listed on IDX in the period 20132017 and carried out share distribution facilities for their employees. This research model is a panel regression model done by testing the common effect model, fixed-effect model, and random effect model. Based on the Chow test and Hausman test, it is found that the best model in this study is the fixed effect model. The study results find that dividend policy, a share giving program to employees, and debt to equity ratio are significant factors affecting the financial performance of manufacturing companies in Indonesia. From these three factors, the debt to equity ratio is the dominant factor determining the financial performance of manufacturing companies, while investment decision does not significantly affect it. Future research studies can be carried out by focusing on other industrial sectors such as the Jakarta Islamic Index 70 and adding other macroeconomic variables.

Conditions affecting knowledge worker productivity while adopting new WFH practices become increasingly relevant as companies adapt to the new normal era. This study investigates the direct impact of WFH on productivity and the mediating impact of WFH on productivity through work life balance (WLB) and job satisfaction in the banking industry located in the Greater Jakarta Area. As such, questionnaires were conducted with 234 respondents who have experience of the WFH program due to COVID-19 pandemic and working in the banking industry located in the Greater Jakarta Area. Findings revealed how job satisfaction is a mediating variable between WFH and Productivity, and WFH positively impacts overall productivity. However, contrary to our predictions, results also showed that WFH has a negative impact on WLB. Further research can extend the proposed model of this study by considering adding several variables which might affect productivity in WFH arrangements or implement the already proposed model to other industries.
