Abstract

Cultural falsification has a direct and negative impact on collective consciousness and on the stereotypical image of peoples and communities in the perceptions and beliefs of other societies. Given the strong influence of visual media in shaping individuals' opinions and awareness, documentary films have an amplified effect, as they are often regarded as reliable sources of historical information. Therefore, any distortion or falsification in the information they present can have deep and lasting effects on the audience’s collective consciousness. This study examines the phenomenon of cultural falsification through visual media, with a focus on documentary films due to their significant role in shaping cultural awareness among viewers. The study analyzes the 2023 Netflix docudrama Queen Cleopatra, which stirred wide controversy upon its release for portraying Queen Cleopatra VII with dark African features, despite historical evidence affirming her Macedonian origin. The film is compared with another documentary titled Queen Cleopatra: The Search for the Truth, which features Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass along with a number of other scholars.

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to investigate communication in the Bakar Tongkang tradition in Bagansiapiapi, Rokan Hilir, using Speech Act Theory. The focus is directed towards the context, events, and communicative behaviour within the ritual. The research methodology employs a qualitative descriptive approach, through interviews, observations, and documentation over six months with community leaders. The results indicate that the Bakar Tongkang tradition, as a tribute to Chinese ancestors and the deity Kie Ong Ya, encompasses a series of symbolic communications, such as the construction of the tongkang, the celebration of the deity's birthday, and the burning of the tongkang symbolising new beginnings. This study highlights the context and communicative opportunities that foster cultural values and connect participants with their past. Both verbal and non-verbal communication within the ritual demonstrate respect, reinforcement of community identity, and cultural continuity. The conclusion of the research emphasizes a close relationship between speech acts, cultural identity, and collective memory. This study contributes to enriching the study of cultural communication by highlighting the role of language in the preservation of traditions. Further research is suggested to examine intergenerational communication and the role of media in maintaining the continuity of these traditions. Abstract

This Study is to answer why the United Nations Security Council can not reduce the escalation of Russia-Ukraine conflict from 2022 until 2024. This conflict still exists and the Security Council looks like did not stop or reduce the conflict at least into a ceasefire agreement, while the Security Council has the authority and ability to stop or reduce this conflict. Any research about the United Nations and Security Council role focuses on comparative normative studies based on legal review or law approach. This study offers a new exploration and finds another perspective about the root problem: the United Nations Security Council can not reduce the Russia-Ukraine conflict. With Hegemonic Stability theoretical approach by Robert Gilpin on Pease (2009) and International Organization Role as an Instrument concept by Clive Archer (2001). This Research deeply explores why the UN Security Council can not use its authority to reduce Russia-Ukraine Conflict. Using qualitative methodology based on depth literature review study and explanatory analysis. The finding reveal that the reform of the League of Nations into the United Nations and the decision-making system of the United Nations and Security Council its closely related to the World War II winner's interest to maintain their power to influence by occupying strategic positions as Permanent Member of the Security Council that have privilege to use absolute negative vote (Veto rights). Russia, as the main actor in this conflict, uses the weakness of the UN Security Council’s decision-making system with Russia's strategic positions as a Permanent Member of the UN Security Council.

Abstract

Community empowerment and development (PPM) is the focus of this study, which examines the nickel mining business in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The primary objective of the study is to identify, prioritize, and engage with internal and external stakeholders. Everyone from affected communities to non-profits and even city councils might be considered a stakeholder. It makes use of the Power-Interest Matrix and Freeman's theory of stakeholders. It becomes more difficult to maintain social, economic, and environmental stability as more enterprises relocate to areas with abundant resources. The interplay between stakeholders was investigated in this qualitative study via the use of tools such as social mapping, in-depth interviews, focus groups, field observations, and community involvement forums. Stakeholders' objectives shift with time in response to environmental, social, and political variables, according to the findings. Every one of the matrix's four corners considers the actions and worries of the most influential parties. The findings highlight the significance of adaptive approaches, transparent supervision, and site-specific planning in the success of PPM. Infrastructure, economic resilience, health, and education are just a few sectors that can benefit from hearing from those who will really be using a program. More resources can be used, more people can accept them, and organizations can stay in business longer with the help of stakeholder power mapping. By enhancing the CSR approach with spatial data and participative models, this work improves stakeholder theory. This provides extractive companies with procedures that can be used by many different persons and can be reused.
