Abstract

Introduction: The OSCE score, as a component of students learning performance evaluation, is affected by external and internal factors. An example of an external factor that has an influence is the educational environment, whereas an internal factor that affects OSCE score is self-efficacy. Methods: This study was an observational analytic study, conducted at the Faculty of Medicine UNS. Samples included students of the Faculty of Medicine UNS school year 2013 and 2014. A sample of 189 students was obtained by simple random sampling, and each student was given a questionnaire on self-efficacy using General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES). Educational environment component was measured with Dundee Ready Education Environment meassure (DREEM). Each component was later interpreted and a comparison was done between school years since they have distinct academic activities. Results: Results from the hypothesis test showed sig of 0,046 which implies a significant correlation between GSES and OSCE scores. Pearson correlation value of 0.186 indicates a weak, positive correlation. Similarly, DREEM and OSCE scores were found to be significantly correlated with sig of 0,000 and Pearson correlation value of 0.375 which also indicates a weak, positive correlation. Conclusion: There is a very weak correlation between self efficacy rate and the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) score. Likewise, a weak correlation was also found between the educational environments and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) score. Keywords: OSCE score, self-efficacy, educational environment

The present study aims to determine the relationship between given supporting lecture and the attainment of learning objectives which are designed as the implementation as the competency standard which has to be achieved by medical students. Method: The present study was an experimental quotient study, conducted by pretest posttest with control group. Obtained samples were divided into 2 groups, namely: group A and group B. Pretest was conducted on both groups, before group A had not received the supporting lecture. While, posttest was conducted on both groups, when group A had receveived the supprting lecture. Collected data was analyzed by using McNemar test and processed with Statistical Package for Social Sciences 20 ( SPSS 20 ) for Windows Release and p < 0.05 indicated signification. Result: The highest learning objectives attainment increase was seen on group A by 52%, while on group B was 4%. McNemar test showed there is a statistically significant difference on group A with p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) and no significant difference on group B with p = 0.05. Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between given supporting lecture and the attainment one of Learning Objectives of Hematology which is only able to be fulfilled by supporting lecture in students of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta. Previous research revealed that online gaming addiction affected the physical and mental health. This study aims to seek the relationship between online game addiction and depression. Methods: This was a descriptive analytical research with a cross sectional approach. boys were sampled using purposive sampling method, based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Depression was measured using BDI depression scale, while online game addiction was determined using Youngs questionnaire and Family Intimacy Instrument (CCI). Multiple logistic regression was used to analyse the relationship between online game addiction, depression and family intimacy using SPSS 17.0 for Windows. Results: The results indicated a positive relationship between online game addiction and depression among adolescent boys in Jebres village. Teenagers with online game addiction had 1.61 times greater the risk for depression than adolescent boys without online game addiction, although not statistically significant (OR=1.61; 95% CI=0.30 to 8.69) p=0.581). Result from analysis on family intimacy variable also showed non significant relationship with depression. Adolescent boys with low family intimacy had lower risk for depression (OR=0.44). However, online game addiction showed a greater relationship with depression than low family intimacy. Conclusions: There was a positive relationship between online game addiction and depression among adolescent boys in Jebres village although not statistically significant. The higher the level of addiction to online games, the higher the risk for depression. Keywords: Adolescent, Online game addiction, Depression, Family intimacy.
