Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe the form of social conflict; (2) reveal the causes of social conflict; and (3) understand the negative and positive impacts of the social conflict. This study uses qualitative, descriptive, and literature. The primary data source is the short story “Tepi Shire”, while the secondary data source is articles and books on the sociology of literature. Data collection techniques using reading and note-taking techniques. The researcher's data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results in this study are (1) the implementation of social conflicts in the form of an introvert, indifference, self-defense, and nepotism; (2) the cause of the social conflict is the difference in opinion and interests; (3) negative impacts, namely: causing loss of social interaction, harming oneself and others, being labeled ugly in the eyes of others. The positive impact is that it can increase concentration, strengthen yourself from insults, is not easily disturbed by others, and there is an urge to improve yourself. This research is expected to complement the results of previous research on social conflict in literary works and become a reference material for other researchers who want to study the sociology of literature.

Abstract

The Covid-19 outbreak has affected all areas of life in the world, including education. In order for teaching and learning activities to continue, the government issued one policy, namely distance learning through online or online. This study aims to describe the implementation of online learning in Indonesian subjects with speech material for sixth grade elementary school students. This research was conducted using descriptive methods with qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. Data collection techniques through interviews and observation. Because the learning conditions were still online, interviews were conducted online using the Google Form application. The sample of this study was the sixth grade students of SDN 2 Mangunrejo Grobogan, Central Java, totaling 19 students. The results of the study indicate that online learning in the Indonesian language subject of speech material runs according to the lesson plan. Based on the results of observations and interviews, it showed that students quite liked and were quite easy to accept the material presented during online learning. However, there are still some obstacles experienced by students that cannot be ignored during learning such as difficult networks or signals, waste of quota, technology stuttering, boredom, and students tend to prefer face-to-face.

Abstract

Recently in Indonesia, there have been many cyberbullying containing blasphemy on social media such as what was done by Joseph Paul Zhang and M. Kece. Of course, it can cause legal implications if there are other peoples who feel humiliated. This research aims to (1) analyze illocutionary speech acts of cyberbullying containing blasphemy on social media, (2) reveal the legal impact of the utterance cyberbullying containing blasphemy, and (3) determine the characteristics of cyberbullying containing blasphemy. The method of this research is qualitative with forensic linguistic approach. The data of the research were collected from the copies of court verdict. Based on the analysis, the illocutionary speech act by defendants includes; expressive (hate speech, humiliation), directive (insulting), and assertive (lies). The legal impact of cyberbullying containing blasphemy carried out by the defendants on social media can be charged based on the Law of the Republic Indonesian Article 28 paragraph (2) Law Number 19 of  2016 about Information and Electronic Transactions (the ITE Law). The characteristic of cyberbullying containing blasphemy on social media is the use of harsh words, insults, and blasphemy against religious group, God, Prophets, the holy scriptures/verse, and other religious symbols.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the opportunities and challenges of Indonesian General Courses for students in achieving Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL). The purpose of the study was to describe the application of the Project based Learning (PjBL) model as the chosen alternative in relation to the maturation of learners who are oriented towards Indonesian language learning processes and products. The research method used is descriptive qualitative.  The research subjects are first-year students in the 2020/2021 UPI academic year. The data sources are the results of performance observations and product portfolios. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively through tabulation and interpretation of General Work Criteria indicators. The results describe the PjBL model through its six steps and the General Work Criteria (KKU) can facilitate students in achieving CPL, as evidenced by the KKU average score of 86. Through the PjBL model students are able to publish ideas, ideas, knowledge, and research results, and have a working role equal, social sensitivity and concern; apply science and technology; have good morals, ethics, and language personality, and have a role as a proud citizen of the language with an anthology final average score of 86.2 as a final project. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the PjBL model can support the achievement of Indonesian language learning in producing written works and increasing collaboration, social work, and mastery of science and technology.

Abstract

Errors in the application of Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia  (EBI) in students' final assignments (TA) have the opportunity for ambiguity to occur so that the contents of the writing are less communicative. The purpose of this study was to describe errors in the application of EBI and the relationship between error variables in TA students of D-4 Study Program of Building Maintenance and Repair Engineering and Road and Bridge Design Engineering Study Program, Civil Engineering Department, Bandung State Polytechnic. This research is qualitative and quantitative with thirty TA data as samples taken at random in the department's library. The results showed that there were 544 spelling errors consisting of: 180 capital letter writing errors, 43 word writing errors, 38 numeric errors, and 7 cursive letter errors. There were 276 punctuation errors, consisting of: 142 comma errors, 82 period errors, 40 colons, and 12 semicolon errors. The results of the quantitative analysis show that the number of errors between the variables is relatively the same. The highest number of spelling errors was caused by errors in the use of capital letters, which was 64.4%. Most other errors are caused by sign point and word writing errors.

Abstract

This research is a research on the short story Barongsai Merah Putih by Ade Sugeng Wiguna. This short story was chosen because it is one of the short stories that entered the finalists of the Nusantara Writing Competition 2012. The formulation of this research is how the structure and moral value of the short story Barongsai Merah Putih. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. The data source was obtained from the short story Barongsai Merah Putih which was recorded with 9 other short story finalists published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama. The results of the study show that this short story has a complete set of intrinsic elements such as themes, characters and characterizations, settings / backgrounds, points of view, language style, plot, mandate. The moral values found are moral obedience, solidarity, perseverance, mutual cooperation, never giving up (persistence), and the value of patience. It can be concluded that the presence of intricate elements in the short story builds the short story to be coherent and rich in moral values.

Abstract

This study is a cognitive semantik analysis regarding the use of metaphors in song lyrics. The method used is the descriptive qualitative. Lukas Graham is a band from Denmark. The data were taken from 10 songs of Lukas Graham’s 3 The Purple Album. The aims of this study are to discuss (1) metaphorical characteristics in Lukas Graham’s 3 The Purple Album, (2) metaphorical types in Lukas Graham’s 3 The Purple Album, and (3) image schemes contained in Lukas Graham’s 3 The Purple Album. The theory used are the conceptual metaphor of Lakoff and Johnson (2003) as the main theory and the image scheme of  Croft & Cruse (2004). The result showed 21 data of conceptual metaphor with 15 ontological metaphors, 2 orientational metaphors, and 4 structural metaphors. The ontological metaphors is the most dominant in Lukas Graham 3 The Purple Album. The image scheme found in the study were 3 scheme containers, 3 scheme unities, 9 scheme existences, 4 scheme identities, and 2 scheme spaces. The data has a pattern of 1) ontological conceptual metaphor has container, existence, and unity image schemes, 2) orientational conceptual metaphor has space image scheme, and 3) structural conceptual metaphor has identity image schemes.

Abstract

For the most part, an understanding of metaphors in the Indonesian vocabulary is lacking when reading from just one point of view. The purpose of this study is, 1) to describe the metaphor of human activity in the Indonesian proverb; 2) to describe the metaphor of human activity in the Indonesian idiom; And 3) todescribe the metaphor of human activity in an Indonesian acronym. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive. The data-collection techniques used are observation, good libel, and note-taking techniques. The theory used in this study is cognitive semantics. The results of this study are obtained by certain figures in the Indonesian vocabulary classified as metaphorical metaphors based on these types of metaphors that have 17 structural metaphors, 12 ontological metaphors, and 1 orientational metaphors. Based on this data, the most common metaphor is a structural metaphor found in both proverbs, idioms, and acronyms. Whereas the least encountered metaphor is an orientational type. The conclusion is that the metaphor in question has a general sense tendency to describe romance, the troubled life, and the brief response to events summarized on the theme life's dilemma.

Abstract

In the Orde Baru era, event 65 did not have many places in national literature. However, in this era there are quite a lot of literature works that raise the issue of event 65, one of them is a novel Dari Dalam Kubur written by Soe Tjen Marching. This novel is interesting to learn because it raised the issue of event 65 that became the historic of the Indonesian. The novel is studied using a qualitative descriptive analysis method with the sociology of literature approach by Alan Swingewood. The focus of the discussion in this research is to describe the forms of seizing of the right to life experienced by women political prisoners in event 65. The results of the study show that  the novel reflects the situation in Indonesia from pre-independence, post-independence, until the Orde Baru era. The researchers found 5 reflections seizing of the right to life of women political prisoners, that is  (1) arrested, (2) intimidated, (3) tortured, (4) harassed and raped, and (5) killed. There is also the suffering of Djing Fei as a ex-tapol is (1) not accepted in society, (2) stamped  ET on hers identity card, (3) forced to give birth to a child as a result of raped, (4) forced to change identity, (5) lost property, and (6) moved residences. This research can help readers to understand the novel by tracing intricacies of the lives of women political prisoners described by the author through the lives of the characters in the novel.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the results of offline and online learning methods based on the analysis of student learning scores. The method used in this research is a quantitative comparative study. Data collection was carried out after the offline and online learning processes were completed in different semesters. The research location is at Widyatama University. The research sample of first-year students for the 2019/2020 academic year was 36 students and the first-year students of the 2020/2021 school year were 29 students. The total sample is 77 students. The sample selected is level one because the subjects that are the object of research are at level one. The data used as research are the results of the student learning process in Indonesian language courses in the form of scores: 1) attendance, 2) task results, 3) UTS, and 4) UAS. This research was conducted by taking data on the results of the four components above during offline learning in 2019 and data on the results of scores during the online learning process in 2020. The data were analyzed by comparison using the SPPS test. The results obtained from this study are that there is a difference in the average passing grade between offline and online learning with a difference of 06.92 in value. Based on these results, it can be concluded that offline lectures produce higher lecture scores than online lectures.
