This article discusses the book of Tafsir al-Qaulul Bayan fi Tafsir al-Qur’ān by Syekh Sulaiman ar-Rasuli. This book is interesting to study because it is very rare to find interpreters using Minangkabau Malay Arabic. Syekh Sulaiman ar-Rasuli have specificity in writing his commentary because in his muqaddimah, it is stated that this book does not aim to explain and issue law. This expression is somewhat different from the purpose of the interpretation expressed by the commentators. This discussion aims to reveal the interpretation methods and patterns used by this book. The method used is content analysis: the purpose is to discuss in depth the written content or information. After reviewing this book, it can be concluded that this book uses the ijmali method. The interpretive style used is linguistic and Sufism feature. The feature of lughawi is to explain the meaning of the verse of al-Qur’ān with a linguistic approach, and the Sufism feature means to explain the meaning of the verse of al-Qur’ān with theories in Sufism or with a spiritual approach of the mufassir

This study examines the hadith about the failure of a nation when led by women. Textually, the meaning of the hadith is contrary to social reality that exhibits the number of women to become leaders in the political sphere. Using the contextual approach of double movement hermeneutics, Fazlur Rahman, this study compares textualist and contextualist methods in interpreting the hadith based on the meaning of the text and the historical, social and political context that underlie the emergence of the hadith. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the cause of a person's inability to be a leader was not because of his gender but because of lacking the capacity to be a leader. It can be found leaders who fail because they do not have leadership capacity, only with popularity, money, and political dynasties, and less capable in leadership. Lastly, this type of leader is addressed by the hadith, not the focus on gender

In the first of 20th century, there were two local hadith books written by two archipelago scholars whose teacher and student status, namely the al-Minhah al-Khairiyah fî Arba’îna Hadîtsan min Ahâdîtsi Khair al-Bariyyah by Mahfuzh al-Tarmasi (d. 1919/1920 AD) and the Arba’ûna Hadîtsan Tata’allaqu bi Mabâdi’u Jam’iyyatu Nahdlatu al-Ulamâ’ by Hasyim Ash'ari (d. 1947 AD). Both of books have a different theme structure from the Arba'in tradition books written by their teachers in the Middle East. For this reason, this paper focuses on how the writing context and the intelectual discourse are contained in the text. The two books of Arba’in hadith were written in order to counter wahabism that at that time attacked the religious thoughts and practices of the archipelago Muslims with the accusations of takfirism. The morality in these books is more directed to moderate the attitudes towards anyone, even against the enemy. As like Ritchey, yellow book or turats is an effective medium for moderating religious attitudes in Islam

This paper uses a descriptive-analytical method with a sociological-historical approach and syarh hadith. The findings show that K.H. Sholeh Darat is an ulama from Java who was present in the midst of a society is closely related with the traditions of a plural society both santri, priyai and abangan. He tends to understand the hadith textually under certain conditions, but on the other hand it tends to be contextual depending on the situation and environmental conditions he experiences or ṣāliḥun li kulli zamānin wa makānin. Besides, it is undeniable that the understanding is less from the methodology of hadith understanding that was initiated by contemporary hadith experts such as textual understanding of tasyabbuh hadith and hadith of pilgrimage to the Prophet's tomb. However, he understands the hadith about intercession contextually

Besides, the government also needs to take and resolve not only to provide punishment to the victims but also need to get rehabilitation to avoid prolonged depression

The debate over the origin of the wind between medieval scientists and theologians became a hot issue. Scientists that consist of philosophers based their arguments on empirical facts and theologians werebased on the revelation of al-Qur’an and Hadith. One of the medieval theologians was al-Majlisī (1037-1110/1627-98). He interpreted cosmological verses based on the process, categorization, and the term of al-Qur'an. This research is a library research usinga historical approach to obtain data and conducting content analysis. As for the term related to the Qur'an about wind, a semantic approach was used. Primary data was the work of al-Majlisī, Biḥār al-Anwar. The results of the study indicated that al-Majlisī rejected the astrological theory which stated that wind is a spin of air originating from the smallest particular composition of the earth, heated, and subjected to evaporation. According to al-Majlisī, the wind caused by God's willin power to blow it with the intensity that He desired. According to al-Majlisī, the wind can be distinguished whether it is beneficial or not as found in al-Qur'an

The aim of this study is addressed to environmental problems from the perspective of the Qur'an. The focus of the research is the anthropocentric verses in the Qur'an. Anthropocentric verses are verses that have the meaning of humans as the center of the universe or humans as creatures that are super-being. The categorization of anthropocentric verses is compiled thematically (maudhû’î) using a contextual hermeneutic approach. The classification of anthropocentric verses as a result of this research are: 1) Humans as the most glorified creatures 2) Humans as creatures that have power in nature, and 3) Humans as caliphs on earth. Several hermeneutical analyzes of the anthropocentric verse have been obtained. Human must not be arrogant as creatures that degrees are glorified. Humans are instructed not to cause damage on the earth and must be able to do good ihsân to all creatures created by Allah SWT. The obligation of humans as caliphs on earth is to prosper the earth rather than damage the earth

This study aims to explore probability as one of the new methods of understanding the hadith about the majority of women who inhabit hell by integrating the ratio of male and female hadith at the end of time as the counting scale. The use of the thematic-multidimensionality method, this study construed and elaborated the related hadith (al-jam'u bain al-adillah). The results of the study revealed that the more women than men in the world, affecting the majority of women as residents of heaven and hell, and vice versa, affecting the minority of men as residents of heaven and hell. It proves the misogyny assumed in the hadith was not essential. Thus, it is not appropriate if this hadith used as a tool to discredit women have a bad character so that they become the most occupants of hell than men, or conversely reject the hadith that is authentic only because of reasons contrary to reason
