The use of Arabic language, it is divided into two, namely Arabic fuṣhâ and ‘âmiyah. Arabic fuṣhâ  used as a written language, and Arabic ‘âmiyah used as a spoken language. In daily activities, Arab people used Arabic ‘âmiyah more frequently. This is due to a fairly high level of formality that is owned by Arabic fuṣhâ, that should be in the spoken language is communicative, consultative, relaxed and intimate, both in term of morphological and syntactical. Abstract

Pengapsahan model is a translation model that has long been used by Kiai in several traditional pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) on coastal Java. During this time, the conjugation model is only understood as a tool for analyzing text structures, whereas far more than that, there is a variety of Javanese typically used in pesantren having a social role so that the variety of Javanese is still preserved by pesantren communities. This paper examines the model of analyzing the pesantren books. The study will also look at the formulation of Kitabi Javanese language and the reasons why the variety of Javanese of the pesantren that continues to be preserved and maintained by the pesantren community, as well as how the process of conjugation has become a part of the process of acculturation in Javanese and Arabic in the texts of religious books. Abstract

This paper amis to analyze the essence, source, approach and validity of syntax of pedagogical Arabic in the perspective of contemporary linguists. This was based on linguists who hold a classical syntax, saying renewal of pedagogical syntax in the contemporary era is not yet epistemological because it only redefines and implies classical syntax. With the philosophy approach of language education and educational linguistic theory based on library data with discourse analysis, it is found that pedagogical syntax iss Arabic grammar for learning to be proficient in speaking; derived from the Quran, hadith, poetry and syntax of classical schools and modern Arabic writing. The drafting approach is structural-behavioral with prescriptive, relevance, gradation, structural, clarity and simple principles. The methods are naqd, damj, tarjîh al-’arâ’, ziyâdah, tabwîb and ikhtishâr. The validity is pragmatic. On this basis, pedagogical syntax has its own distinct epistemology with classical syntax.

Abstract

This article is aimed to answer two essential problems; (1) development map of Arabic learning method from 1990s until today which has been formulated unclearly, and (2) developing Arabic learning in posmethod era by optimilizing teacher’s strategic role in the process of Arabic learning. This article used bibliographic sources from some books and articles in scientific journal about linguistic and Arabic learning. The interpretation data of academician thought and Arabic linguistic experts was done by using historical-critical approach and content analysis for substancial interpretation. B. Kumaravadivelu concept in Beyond Methods: Macrostrategies for Language Teaching (2003) which requires teacher to play three essential roles; pasif technician, reflective practician, and transformative intelectual is very inportant in Arabic learning in posmethod era. The principle of at-tharîqatu ahammu min al-mâddah (method is more important than content) can be developed to be main principle “spirit, profesionality and strategic role of language educator is more important in teaching Arabic than the method itself”, since basically there is no most appropriate and ideal method for any goals and situation of Arabic learning.DOI: 10.15408/a.v2i1.1519

Abstract

This study explores the influence of endogamous marriage (Arab-Arab family) and exogamous (Arab-Javanese family) on the personal name of Hadrami-Arab who living in the Kampong Arab Pasar Kliwon, Surakarta. Endogamous marriage among Hadrami-Arab resulted in identity retention, especially ethnic identity. In contrast, exogamous marriages play a role in generating a hybrid entity that inherits the characteristics of each ethnic parent, including personal name. Utilizing Net Consolidation Data for the First Semester of 2017 – download as of February 23, 2018– managed by the Data and Statistics Division of the Population and Civil Registration Agency of Surakarta, the names of the residents of Pasar Kliwon Subdistrict were classified according to the ethnicities of both parents. The elements in name construction were then identified to formulize the naming system utilizing the socio-onomastics framework. From the analysis, it can be revealed that the endogamous marriage became the dominant marriage as an effort to maintain the lineage of their ancestors, especially the male line (patrilineal). This effort is followed by giving the newborn baby name by adopting the name of his/her father, grandfather’s, or a combination of both. The attachment of surname after the personal name is also a characteristic of children who born from endogamous family. Meanwhile, families from exogamous marriages (Javanese mother and Arab fathers) prefer to name their child with a hybrid name through a combination of naming systems from their cultural background, Arabic-Javanese words and vise versa. The selection of Arabic names by Hadrami-Arabs is emphasized more highlight their ethnic identity, even though it also displays their religious status, Islam.
