Abstract

AbstractCommunication is a fundamental human need to interact with each other. Forchildren with special needs, particularly children with hearing impairment, communicationbecomes very important because they must learn to communicate harder thanthe normal ones. In Karnna Manohara Special School an articulation mirror is used asa device to train children with hearing impairment in communication, especially interms of facial expressions. Unfortunately, however, the device is less effectivebecause it is large and not portable. The purpose of this program is to implementElectronic Portable Articulation Mirror (EPAM) which is a modification of a largemirror articulation into a portable, practical and more effective one. This program isconducted through several steps, namely observation, device improvement, feasibilitytest (calibration), evaluation and revision, application of device, and evaluation. Theresults of this program is EPAM design that consists of a mirror, an LCD display, acontrol menu, sound indicator light, power indicator light, power button, displaybaterray checker, 3.5 mm audio port, audio port 7 mm, charger port, speakers, headsets, and microphone. The implementation of EPAM in speech therapy businessunit of Karnna Manohara Special School has succeeded in increasing the facialexpressions of the deaf children with the gain of 0.72 and increasing the capacity witha high criterion.

Abstract

AbstractThis study is conducted to find out how to make ketapang (Terminaliacattapa)fruit-based charcoal briquettes and to reveal the effectiveness testing of its quality. The briquettes called cattapa briquettes were made from the charcoal of the ketapang(Terminaliacattapa) with the material ratio of 3: 1. The briquettes were then shapedand pressed with a special tool and dried under the sun for about 2-5 hours. Thequality of cattapa briquettes was tested in two stages, namely testing the watercontent testing and the fuel testing. The results of the analysis on the calculation of thelevels of water reduction show that the cattapa briquettes has a water contentreduction as much as 58.38%, while the results of the fuel testing show that cattapabriquettes are less effective and the quality is not good.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to produce the software of Sentence Scramble Game (SSG)as a syntax learning media for deaf children. Learning syntax includes the discussionabout sentence structures and functional orders. The method employed in this studyis research and development (R D) adopting the model development of Borg Gall, which covers ten steps simplified into six steps, namely: 1) analysis, 2) design, 3)development, 4) expert validation, 5) testing, and 6) disseminations. The subjects inthis research were 7 students of Karnamanohara Type B Special School. The methodsof data collection are direct observation, interview and questionnaires. The data wereanalyzed by descriptively and qualitatively. The results of this research show thatSentence Scramble Games (SSG) are eligible, proven by the results of the materialvalidation test with good category (4.0) and the media expert’s trial results with verygood category (4.2). The assessment of the feasibility of the media is also supportedby the trial results of three persons with excellent categories (4.1). A large scale trialby seven people results in the excellent category (4.6).

Abstract

The aims of the research are to design Automatic Electrical Control Efficiencywith ATMega8 as an indicator of payment and power distribution of rooms in a boardinghouse, and to reveal the effect of Automatic Electrical Control Efficiency withATMega8 as an indicator of electricity payments in a boarding house. The data obtainedfrom the survey and analysis of the condition in the field are 1) on the averagethe electricity cost is determined by the owner of the boarding house and additionalcost is given to every electronic equipment brought to the boarding house, 2) on theaverage the electricity cost for each room is 32,125.00 rupiahs with a total power ofabout 746 Watts, 3) short circuits often happen and affect other rooms, and 4) it ismostly recommended that the electricity payment is based on the power used in therooms. The result of testing the Automatic Electrical Control Efficiency with ATMega8is appropriate to implement in the boarding houses with a relatively low energymanagement. Besides, this implementation will be very helpful as a reference for themonthly transparent electricity payment based on the amount of power used.Automatic Electrical Control Efficiency with ATMega8 works by limiting the powerused in each room and the safety in each room.
