Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze: 1) the implementation of a contextual approach to mathematics learning in perimeter of plane figures material to increase the motivation and numeracy skills of third-grade students at Cawan Jatinom Klaten Elementary School, 2) the increase in students' learning motivation after implementing the contextual approach, and 3) the improvement in students' numeracy skills following its application. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects consisted of 12 third-grade students, and data were collected through tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using both quantitative and qualitative methods. The results showed that the contextual learning approach, implemented through the use of measuring tapes and real objects inside and outside the classroom, successfully increased students' engagement and understanding of perimeter concepts. Students became more active and motivated; the classroom atmosphere became more conducive to learning, and instruction shifted from a teacher-centred to a student-centred approach. After two cycles of intervention, students' numeracy skills improved, as the hands-on use of real objects helped them grasp concepts such as length, width, and circumference more easily. It is recommended that the contextual learning approach be applied in other classes or explored further to enhance mathematics teaching methods in general.

Abstract

Third-grade students often face difficulties in understanding the abstract and cyclical nature of the water cycle, leading to misconceptions and fragmented knowledge. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of integrating Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Wordwall (WW) in improving students’ conceptual understanding of the water cycle. A quasi-experiment employed in this study. The participants involved 105 third-grade students from one elementary school, divided into three groups: PBL+Wordwall, PBL-only, and a conventional instruction group. Over six sessions, students received instruction aligned with their group’s assigned strategy. The results, based on pretest and posttest comparisons analysed through t-tests and MANCOVA, show that both PBL and PBL+Wordwall outperform conventional teaching; however, PBL+Wordwall did not significantly surpass PBL alone. These findings suggest that PBL is a powerful strategy for teaching scientific concepts and that visual tools like Wordwall may offer added benefits in vocabulary reinforcement and engagement. This research supports the adoption of active learning and digital aids to enhance science instruction in elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of Lembu Creation Dance in extracurricular dance activities at SD Negeri Gondangrawe to the development of students' kinesthetic intelligence. Lembu Creation Dance is a modern dance art rooted in Indonesian culture, depicting the symbolism of the ox as an animal with significant historical and spiritual value. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method based on case studies. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation of 15 students who participated in extracurricular dance activities. The results showed that Lembu Creation Dance significantly increased students' kinesthetic intelligence through structured exercises involving body coordination, balance, flexibility, and understanding of symbolic meaning in dance movements. In addition to physical benefits, this activity also contributes to psychological aspects, such as increased self-confidence, courage to appear in public, and social skills. Participation in dance activities also shapes students' character, such as discipline, patience, and perseverance. However, several obstacles affect the effectiveness of this program, including limited facilities, short practice time, and variations in students' interests and abilities. To optimize this program, it is necessary to provide adequate facilities, flexible schedules, and innovative learning approaches involving technology. This study confirms that Lembu Creative Dance is not only a medium for preserving local culture but also a holistic educational tool to develop the physical, mental, and emotional potential of students as a whole

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the simultaneous impact of learning motivation (affective aspect) and problem-solving (cognitive aspect) on the mathematical disposition of primary students. Using a quantitative survey with a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 81 fourth-grade students through validated questionnaires and problem-solving tests. Multiple linear regression was applied after verifying the classical assumptions. The results indicated that both variables significantly affect mathematical disposition when analysed together. However, only problem-solving showed a significant partial effect. This suggests that cognitive skills are more dominant than affective factors in shaping students’ mathematical disposition. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening problem- solving skills from an early age as a foundation for developing positive attitudes toward mathematics. The study contributes to theoretical development by integrating cognitive and affective dimensions and offers practical implications for enhancing learning strategies in primary education.

Abstract

Pedagogic competence is one of the most important competencies that teachers must have because it is directly related to the ability to manage learning effectively. In Indonesia, this competency still needs to be improved, especially in terms of teacher motivation to develop themselves through training in order to create quality education that is oriented towards the future of students. This study aims to identify the gap between actual performance and desired performance of teachers in developing pedagogical competence, especially in the preparation of teaching modules based on didactical situation analysis. The approach used was a mixed-methods study with an unbalanced convergent model. Data were collected through interviews, document analysis, and questionnaires, then analyzed separately and compared. The results show that teachers still tend to fulfill administrative aspects in preparing teaching modules without considering the characteristics of students and the complexity of the material. Therefore, special training is needed so that teachers are able to optimally improve pedagogical competence through didactical situation analysis.

Abstract

Learning media plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of education by serving as a tool for teachers to deliver material effectively. This study aims to develop Linktree-based learning media for Indonesian language instruction to improve students’ understanding of identifying the main idea in narrative texts for grade V at MI Guppi Jatimalang. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, following the Borg and Gall development model. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and questionnaires distributed to teachers and students to assess their needs. Data analysis included feasibility and effectiveness testing of the learning media. The feasibility test results, based on expert validation, indicated scores of 89.2% from material experts and 88.4% from media experts, both categorized as “very feasible.” The effectiveness test, measured using N-Gain analysis, showed a result of 0.6076, placing it in the medium category. These findings suggest that the Linktree-based learning media is effective in supporting learning and enhancing students’ ability to identify the main idea in narrative texts. Its use is also expected to foster students’ motivation and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The lack of use of learning media at Kutowinangun 08 Salatiga Elementary School causes the learning outcomes of water cycle material in class V to be low. Based on these problems, this study aims to develop and test the feasibility and effectiveness of diorama media on water cycle material, hereinafter referred to as PBL-based SIAR in Grade V. This R&D research adapted nine of the ten steps of the Borg and Gall development model. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected using both test and non-test techniques, including questionnaire instruments, observation, interviews, and documentation. These data were then analyzed both descriptively and inferentially. The developed media was validated by media experts and material experts, who applied very valid criteria, achieving percentages of 82% and 90.67%. Based on the results of the paired sample t-test, it is evident that the significance value is 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that the product developed is effective in improving student learning outcomes. The N-Gain test results obtained a gain value of 0.64 (medium). Based on the results of the response questionnaire, it was received very positively by teachers and students. From these results, it can be concluded that the diorama media SIAR (water cycle) based on PBL developed is highly feasible and effective in improving the learning outcomes of IPAS fifth-grade students at Kutowinangun 08 Salatiga State Elementary School. The contribution of this research to existing knowledge is twofold: it serves as an alternative and enriches the literature on SIAR diorama media based on PBL, which has been proven effective in improving learning outcomes for water cycle material, and provides new insights as a reference for further learning.
