Abstract

Critical thinking students can be improved by making questions in the test instrument categorized as Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS), because students are given HOTS category questions, it will train students in high-level problem-solving. This research develops a test instrument in the category of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) based on Wondershare Quiz Creator because it can train students to use the development of Science and Technology. The purpose of this development research is to develop a test instrument based on Wondershare Quiz Creator to know the completeness of student learning outcomes and the critical thinking of students. This research used Research and Development (R & D) type and the sample as many as 35 students of XII MIPA 4 in SMAN 1 Tanggul. This design research used Plomp and Nieveen's development style. Product testing is carried out online using the test instrument software that has been developed. The test instrument developed was declared valid and could be used in learning, from 35 students, there are 5 students who have completed their learning outcomes, and there are 2students who have very high critical thinking skills.Keywords: Completeness learning outcomes, Critical thinking skills, Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS), Test instrumentDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v9.n1.202104

Abstract

Conceptual understanding involves students' abilities in the aspects of translation, interpretation, and extrapolation. A way to increase conceptual understanding is to use excel-based modeling (EBM). However, the use of excel-based modeling (EBM) has not been applied in physics learning at the junior high school level. This study aims to test the effectiveness of project-based learning assisted by excel-based modeling to increase students' conceptual understanding of wave material. The sample of this study were students of class VIII-1 junior high school who were selected using the purposive sampling technique. This study used a one-group pretest-posttest design. Research data determine the effectiveness of using excel-based modeling using a pretest and posttest in the form of 7 identical essay questions. The data obtained were analyzed using a paired-sample T-test. After the treatment, data on the increase in the value of each indicator of concept understanding were obtained, namely 91.18 (translation), 86.65 (interpretation), and 83.09 (extrapolation). Abstract

The study aims to determine the influence of the use of POE-based worksheets against the learners ' critical thinking ability on impulse and momentum material. This study was conducted in one of the state high schools in Bandarlampung, in the even semester of the school year, 2019/2020. The Research Population is all students of class X MIA. The design of this research uses the Non-Equivalent Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. This study uses a purposive sampling technique with X-grade samples MIA3 amounted to 36 learners as experimental classes and X-grade MIA4 numbered 36 students as control classes have relatively the same initial skills before the researcher performs the treatment. The results of the Independent sample T-Test show POE-based Worksheets on impulse and momentum material have a significant effect on learners ' critical thinking skills. Classes using the worksheets POE learning model showed higher critical thinking abilities with an average of N-Gain 0.70 versus a control class not exposed to the worksheets model Predict-Observe-Explaindengan N-Gain 0.60. This suggests that the use of POE-based worksheets in this research considerably influences learners ' critical thinking skills.Keywords: Critical thinking ability, Momentum impulse, Predict observe explain DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v9.n1.202101

Abstract

In learning science, it is necessary to have a learning model that can integrate scientific literacy skills. This study aimed to develop discovery learning-based module to improve students’ scientific literacy. We used R & D research that adapts the 4-D model device development procedure, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. Product assessment was carried out after revision stage I by 3 media experts, 3 material experts, and 1 SMA YPPK Taruna Bakti teacher. To determine student responses, the product was tested for feasibility and readability on 5 X grade students of SMA YPPK Taruna Bakti through a limited trial. The product was revised and tested again through a broad trial on 16 students. The revision through experts’ comments and students’ initial responses has affected the readability, feasibility, and usability of the developed Newton’s Law module. There were no students who have high scientific literacy. Students who have low scientific literacy were 13 and students who have moderate scientific literacy were 3. Abstract

Computational Thinking (CT) skill is the ability to solve problems with computer thinking. In addition, CT can be seen as a structured and systematic approach that can be implemented in learning. This study aims to bring the computational thinking approach to the non-computer science student’s class and involved 35 undergraduate students of physics education in the computational physics course. The research method used was the mixed method sequential explanatory design (Creswell & Plano Clark, 2011), with the following design. Broadly speaking, the flow of the mixed-method research method with an explanatory sequential design in this study includes the collection of quantitative data obtained from student self-evaluation instruments related to the understanding of the CT approach stage. The results showed that the Computational Thinking (CT) approach can be applied to non-computer science students in online learning which includes 6 stages of implementation and 6 stages of implementation. Abstract

This study aims to 1) produce a HOTS assessment instrument; 2) knowing the quality of the test instrument in terms of the feasibility of construction, material feasibility, and language feasibility according to the expert; and 3) knowing the quality of the test items in terms of validity, reliability, difficulty level and distinguishing power based on the test results. Research and Development were used as a research method with 4D procedural development model consists of four stages, namely: the define stage, the design stage, the development stage, and the dissemination stage. The questionnaire was used for expert judgment validation. The characteristics measurement of the HOTS items instrument including the validity, reliability, difficulty level, and distinguishing power of the questions. The HOTS assessment instrument developed was in the form of multiple-choice options with a reason based on HOTS in aspects of analyzing, evaluating, and creating. The results of expert validation show that the average item with criteria is very good in terms of content, construct, and language aspects. Instruments that have been validated and revised were tested on students who had studied vibration and wave material and the test results showed that 77% of the questions developed were of good quality with valid criteria, good distinguishing criteria, level of difficulty at moderate and easy levels and very strong reliability so that feasible and ready to be used to measure students' higher-order thinking skills in vibrations and waves material.Keywords: HOTS, Instruments test, Vibrations, and wavesDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v9.n1.202108

Abstract

Self-regulated learning is an effort to manage an individual’s learning. This research aims to 1) determine the strategy of self-regulated learning (SRL) based on problem-solving toward the learners’ learning outcomes and 2) determine the learning outcome improvement of the learners in learning by using the SRL based-problem solving. This research is quantitative research with quasi-experimental type and pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique was purposive sampling.  The research population covered all in Senior High School (SMA 5) Yogyakarta. The samples were from the tenth graders of Mathematics and Science Program 3 as the control group and Mathematics and Science Program 1 as the experimental group. The data collection methods consisted of test and non-test. Abstract

This study aims to develop an instrument for HOTS questions with the help of the Wondershare Quiz Creator application on Momentum and Impulse materials with design and material feasibility, suitable settings for HOTS questions with four types of HOTS questions, namely Multiple Choice, Multiple Responses, Sequence, and Matching. The research method used is Research and Development (R & D). This type of research is used to adapt the research design by Borg & Gall. The product development stages consist of research and data collection, planning, product development, product validation, product revision, and product results. The data collection technique used expert validation in developing HOTS questions based on CBT, then the data were analyzed quantitatively and descriptively. The analysis shows that the validity of the design has an average value of 4.21 with very high quality or validity and the validity of the material has an average value of 3.75 with high quality or valid. The highest scores for design and material validity were multiple responses 4.22 and 3.79. At the levels on C4, C5, and C6,  there is no difference in the validity and complexity of thinking caused by different types of questions.Keywords: CBT, HOTS, Momentum and Impulse, Wondershare quiz creator (WQC)DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v9.n1.202110

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine students' creative thinking abilities after being given a problem-based learning (PBL) model with practicum method on energy conversion material. The Quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design was used in this study. The measurement of the effect of students' creative thinking abilities uses 10 questions of creative thinking abilities with indicators, i.e. elaboration and flexibility. The questions were given to students before and after being treated and the results of the data were analyzed using paired sample T-Test and N-Gain. Hypothesis test results about the effect of students' creative thinking abilities using problem-based learning models with practicum on energy conversion material obtained asymp sig values. (2 tailed) of 0.001 and the value of N-Gain is 0,672. Based on these results, it is known that students experience an increase in the ability to think creatively after being given learning with a problem-based learning model with practicum methods on energy conversion material.
