Abstract

The research was conducted to find out the influence of Group Investigation (GI) of Cooperative Learning methods toward the student’s ability of mathematical reasoning. The research design was quasi-experimental the nonequivalent posttest-only control group design consisting of one experimental class (Group Investigation of Cooperative Learning) and one control class. The research population was all the second-semester students of VIII grade of MTs Negeri 1 Lampung Timur in the academic year of 2015/2016. The research instruments used were mathematical reasoning ability test. Data Analyze mathematical reasoning ability was used independent sample t-test. The results showed that: (1) mathematical reasoning ability using Group Investigation of Cooperative Learning was higher than conventional learning.Keywords: Mathematical Reasoning Ability, Group Investigation (GI) of Cooperative Learning

Abstract

The aims of this study are to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills mathematical and metacognition of students who are taught with problem solving approach and the correlation between mathematical critical thinking and metacognition of students. This research is an experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design. The sample this research is the students of class VIII_2 and VIII_3 in SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh. Collecting data technique are test and nontest. Data were analyzed using t-test and correlation test. The result of the research shows 1) the critical thinking ability of the students who get the learning through problem solving approach is better than the students who get the conventional learning, 2) Metacognition of students who get the learning by using problem solving approach is better than the students who get the conventional learning, 3) a positive and significant relationship between students' metacognition and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the feasibility of mathematics contextual-based learning materials on the material set using video-assisted learning. This research was a research and development (R & D). Models were used to adapt the model developed by Sugiyono, but not to stage a mass product. Subjects tested in this study was seventh grade Junior high school 1 Batanghari academic year 2014/2015. Results of the validation of teaching materials to obtain an average value of 82.14%. Learning outcomes of the pilot study of  small-scale was 84 and learning outcomes of large-scale was 84.33, so the contextual-based learning materials on the material set using video-assisted learning was very feasible used in learning

Abstract

This study aims to determine the minimum spanning tree of a complete graph K_n with weight constraints and completion using the cutting plane method. The cutting plane method is one of the algorithms included in the exact method. This algorithm works by reducing the solution area so that it becomes narrower. As a result, the feasible solutions that will be investigated become less and less. This is because the cutting plane method works based on the optimal linear programming solution of relaxation solved by the simplex method. In this paper we give illustration of the algorithm applied for two cases, one for K_4 and one for K_5.

Abstract

AbstrakProgram pengalaman lapangan (PPL) merupakan salah satu matakuliah wajib yang harus ditempuh oleh setiap mahasiswa semester VII di Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro. Permasalahan yang sering muncul dalam proses pelaksanaan PPL diantaranya kurang maksimalknya komunikasi antara mahasiswa dengan guru pamong ataupun dengan dosen pembimbing lapangan. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut maka diterapkan PPL berbasis lesson study. Lesson Study merupakan suatu model pembinaan terhadap orang yang berprofesi sebagai pendidik baik guru ataupun dosen melalui pengkajian pembelajaran secara kolaboratif dan berkelanjutan dalam membangun komunitas belajar. Penelitian dilaksakan di SM Kartikatama Metro, SMA Kartikatama Metro dan SMK  Karikatama 1Metro denga jumlah 31 mahasiswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yaitu mengembangkan kompetensi profesioal calon guru melalui PPL berbasis lesson study. Lesson study yang dilakukan dikolaborasikan dengan kegiatan Penelitian Tindakan (Action Reseach). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dua siklus, adapun setiap siklusnya meliputi perencanaan (plan), pelakasnaan (do) dan observasi serta refleksi (see). Hasil pelaksanaan siklus I dan siklus II menunjukkan adanya peningkatan profesional calon guru melalui kegiatan lesson study walaupun belum terjadi peningkatan pada semua indikator. Dalam penelitian ini indikator kompetensi profesionalisme yang diamati meliput:1) Kemampuan membuka pembelajaran, 2) Penguasaan materi pembelajaran, 3) Penguasaan penggunaan pendekatan/strategi  pembelajaran, 4) Pemanfaatan sumber belajar/media, 5) Gaya dan penggunaan bahasa, 6) Penilaian proses dan hasil belajar, 7) Kemampuan menutup pembelajaran. Berdasarkan pembahasan singkat di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa model proses PPL berbasis lesson study dapat meningkatkan kompetensi profesional calon guru dan penggunakan lesson study dalam proses PPL mahasiswa menyatakan lebih siap dalam melaksanakan praktik di kelas dibandingkan tidak menggunakan lesson study.

Abstract

ABSTRACTAs an effort to achieve meaningfulness in the research process conducted by students, it requires a student ability covering ability compile to with refer to the question to be researched, formulating statistical hypothesis, solving, and interpreting problems which is relied by existing context, this ability is known as statistical literacy. The purpose of this study is to describe and assess the ability of statistical literacy. By knowing the ability of statistical literacy early on in the first semester, it will be able to be developed furthermore realization of subject circumstances under study in further statistics. The method used in this research is qualitative method with type of research strategy of case study. The subjects of the study are students majoring in mathematics education semester I in the basic statistics courses of the academic year 2016/2017. Research instrument that is researcher as main instrument, and statistic literacy test. The result of the research is 35% of students are in the high statistic literacy ability category, 13% of students are in the medium category, and 52% of students are in the low category, with different achievement in each capability category viewed from three indicators of statistical literacy ability. They are Formulating problems ability; Using concepts ability, facts, procedures and reasoning; Interpreting problems solving ability. Keywords: Statistical literacy ability, student of mathematics education

Abstract

The objective of this study was to know the effectiveness of teaching materials solids with flat side which was developed using the 5E instructional model against the activities and learning outcomes in eighth grade students in Junior High School State 2 Batanghari. In this study using the methodology of development research with formative type according to Tessmer (1993), namely the development of teaching materials of solids with flat side. Research procedure using 4 stages namely self evaluation, expert review and one-to-one, small group, and field tests. The results showed that the teaching material included in the category of valid and good for use. Then the average of class activity from the observation obtained a score of 10.3, it’s means that the category scores included into the active category, and then the average of learning outcomes was 71.38 where the scores included into the good category .

Abstract

The problem of Addition Operation of Functions often emerges in Junior National Science and Math Olympiads at the regional level, provincial level, and national level. Non-routine questions related to the addition of functions tested In the Junior National Science Math Olympiad are more concern on the problem-solving. The questions have complex types and these types cannot directly solved by common routine procedures. Systematic-logical thinking and high level of understanding ability are required to solve the problem. There are some basic strategies which can be implemented to find the right solutions. Blended strategy plays a significant role to solve the problem. This research will discuss about the strategy to simplify equal group problem from another point of view in order to solve the addition of functions problem in the Junior National Science Math Olympiad. The implementation of the strategy is based on the Polya’s Problem-Solving Techniques.

Abstract

This research objectives to determine whether the use of learning strategies of Reciprocal Teaching can improve students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes in the real analysis I material. This research is Classroom Action Research using Reciprocal Teaching with four key activities, namely questioning, clarifying,  predicting, and summarizing/review, with the stages include: planning, implementation, monitoring and reflection carried out in two cycles.  This research was carried out on the mathematics education at the Muhammadiyah University of Metro, Lampung. The technique of collecting data through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and tests. The results of critical thinking skills increase of 32.3 from the prior cycle by 45.7 becomes 78.0 at the end of the cycle. Learning outcomes increase at 33.4 (3.21 pretest and posttest 65.5) in the first cycle and 37.0 (35.4 pretest and posttest 72.4) in the second cycle. Therefore, this research can be concluded that Reciprocal Teaching Model can improve the students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether or not the influence of problem solving abilities is reviewed with the learning style of mathematics education students. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. Questionnaire method is used in learning style, while documentation method is semester test result. The sample in this research is students of mathematics semester IV and VI of Balikpapan University. Based on the results of data processing obtained conclusion there is no average difference between visual learning style, auditorial learning style, and kinesthetic learning style, so there is no effect of problem-solving abilities reviewed with the learning style of students of mathematics education University of Balikpapan. This is evident from Fobs < F0,05; 2;47 or 0.2064 < 3.1951 so that H0 is accepted. Seen from the average of learners who have kinesthetic learning style is greater than learners who have auditorial  and visual learning styles.
