Abstract

Visual comfort is an important aspect of teaching and learning activities. This study used simulation with DIALux evo 9.1 at the Joint Lecture Building (GKB) State University of Malang. Data analysis uses a quantitative descriptive approach. Natural lighting simulation is carried out to get an idea of natural lighting and its effects. The results showed that the average intensity of room lighting was above the lighting standard. The highest intensity occurs at 12:00, while the lowest is at 16:00. The level of visual comfort due to natural lighting is not optimal. Very high lighting intensity results in glare effect on the transparent wall side of the room, while the inner side is below the room lighting standard. The influence of architectural and façade design that affects the optimization of natural lighting is: building orientation, the use of transparent walls full of CW (curtain wall) construction, minimizing the use of horizontal shading, by tending to use vertical shading-fins, and making transparent material selection.

Abstract

Problems that arise in a time when it is easy to obtain information and references result in the emergence of a tendency to use various architectural styles, resulting in problems where the use of these styles is different from the local context in the area. Eclecticism in architectural design can be one method to produce local identity in new buildings. This can be achieved if the references used in the design come from the right sources. The method of analysis of the composition of the façade is used to understand the visual expression of the façade. This research reveals the expression of Rote Ndao's local identity through eclecticism on the architectural façade of the Regent's Office. The results showed that the Regent Office presented local identity through four eclecticism approaches. Ti'i langga and bohani elements are ornaments on the roof (art and decoration), so it is interpreted as a symbol of the highest government in this region (symbol). The combination of Rote Ndao, Ti'i Langga traditional roofs, and designs with modern materials becomes a pluralism concept on the façade of the building, namely historical references and present-day architecture. This study is relevant to understanding and safeguarding cultural heritage. The integration of local elements in architectural design allows development that fulfills functions and respects cultural heritage.

Abstract

Sasirangan fabric artisans carry out the production process in their respective houses. The house not only functions as a living space but also as a production space. Sasirangan fabric is a typical craft from Sasirangan Village, Banjarmasin, which is a source of livelihood for the community. The local government has designated Sasirangan Village as a riverfront area so that the existence and uniqueness of artisans's houses are in danger of being lost. The purpose of this case study research on the spatial typology of artists' business houses is to identify the different types of business houses based on the stage of production and space utilization patterns. The analysis was conducted by arranging categories based on function, spatial relationship patterns, and spatial organization. The research results show that six spatial typologies of business houses were found based on their space utilization patterns.

Abstract

Lowokwaru District is a district that has a relatively high number of COVID-19 cases in Malang City. According to data from May 29, 2022, Malang City had 28,793 positive cases of COVID-19, while in Lowokwaru District, there were 6,583 positive cases or 23% of positive COVID-19 cases in Malang City. Merjosari Flower Park, as an active garden, can be an alternative to help speed up the healing process. However, several problems were found that could cause discomfort for visitors visiting the park, including minimal shade, noise coming from high vehicle volumes, and unpleasant odors coming from the Dinoyo Waste Disposal Site. This research aims to develop a garden based on the healing garden concept at Taman Bunga Merjosari. The development concept was generated through Kano analysis. Kano analysis is used to categorize and determine priority attributes determined by visitors. The results of this research are in the form of development concepts for each priority attribute. The development concept takes the form of providing five attributes, providing various functions for three attributes, and improving the quality of three attributes in accordance with the healing garden concept.

Abstract

The transport hub building's main function is to exchange passengers from one mode to another. The transfer area is the main area of passenger transfer activities in this building. Each transport hub building certainly has different transfer area characteristics from one another. Several factors shape the spatial characteristics of this area. The purpose of this study is to determine the spatial characteristics of the transfer area and, as a theoretical study, to see how the transfer area is an adequate passenger exchange area in case studies of transport hub buildings in the world. The method used to analyze the data is descriptive qualitative. The analysis was carried out by comparing the observed data with existing theoretical variables. The results of this research then conclude in the form of several dominant factors that make the spatial character of the transfer area in transport hub buildings in the world. From the analysis that has been done, it can be concluded that there are characteristics of space-forming elements which are dominated by transparent planes, maximize incoming natural light, have an orientation to the outside of the building, have a broad shape, are dominant and are located in the center of the building.

Abstract

Currently, the cafe is a place to relieve stress through a healing concept in its interior design. So, the cafe design must be as comfortable as possible to meet the concept goals. This research aims to determine user perception of the healing environment in a cafe environment based on three aspects (the five basic senses, user psychology, and indoor and outdoor natural elements) and was conducted using quantitative research methodology. Data retrieval was carried out through Google Forms media using closed-ended questions. The results proved that three aspects of the healing environment, including sensory, psychological, and natural aspects described in lighting, color tone selection, air, a good level of privacy, and the presence of plants, could help the healing process. If there is one aspect that is lacking, then visitors cannot feel healing. If a café wants to create a healing environment, then the three aspects (senses, psychological, and natural) must be fulfilled.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the concept of place creation and place attachment in Denpasar City, Bali. In the context of rapid urbanization, urban development is becoming increasingly important in maintaining cultural identity and environmental sustainability. The main problem in this study is the difference in understanding and implementation of the concept of place creation and the level of place attachment by communities that focus on rural and urban urbanization. The urgency of the research lies in the need to understand Denpasar City as a center of cultural and tourism activities, blending urban growth with cultural and environmental preservation. The analysis was carried out on a review of government archives in the form of narratives, observations of service use, purchase of goods and vehicle movements, as well as examination of physical and spatial components. The results showed variations in people's perceptions of the concept of place creation, focusing on cultural and environmental preservation. In addition, the degree of attachment to places is related to the active participation of the community in the preservation of the cultural and environmental heritage of the city. This research reveals the importance of integrating people's aspirations in urban planning as well as promoting cultural and environmental sustainability as an integral part of the development of a better Denpasar City.

Abstract

Natas is a public space in Manggarai with various forms. The shape and orientation of natas are influenced by parrots. This is based on the shape, orientation, location of the compang and the presence of mbaru. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with the steps: identifying the typology of shape and orientation of natas through field observations and interviews as well as indirect observation via Google Maps and Google Earth, analyzing the relationship between natas, compang and mbaru, creating patterns and formulating shapes and orientations based on natas typology. The results of this research reveal the diversity of natas shapes with a dominance of circular shapes and a tendency to follow parrots spatially. Natas is a place of social activities and traditional ceremonies that represent the unity of the Manggarai community.
