Abstract

Due to getting development and  improvement zone area in West Sulawesi Province, the Kalumpang–Bonehau-Batas South Sulawesi route is planned to be upgraded to a national road from a district road. The purpose of this study was to compare the 2017 pavement design manual method and component analysis in planning the flexible pavement thickness of inter-provincial roads. The design of flexible pavement thickness uses the 2017 road pavement design manual method, namely AC-WC 40 mm, AC-BC 60 mm, AC-Base 80 mm, and class A top layer 300 mm. The results of the component analysis method, namely the thickness of the surface layer using a mixture of laston is 5 cm, the top foundation layer uses 20 cm class A crushed stone and the lower foundation layer uses 10 cm class A sandstone.

Abstract

Indonesian Railways Company must increase the fare for the Penataran Train due to additional operational costs in providing the COVID-19 health protocol. On the other hand, people experience a reduction in monthly income due to the lack of activities outside the home. Ticket prices must be adjusted to determine the number of subsidies borne by the government. This study aims to evaluate the fare of the Penataran Train using the Ability To Pay (ATP) and Willingness To Pay (WTP) methods. Questionnaires have been distributed to 417 respondents using the Google Form application. The results showed that the ATP was higher than the WTP 1 without passenger expectations, and the ATP was lower than the WTP 2 with passenger expectations. Restriction of seating capacity is the most expected service by respondents. The recommended fare is IDR 33,478.00/trip, and the public service obligation is IDR 54,816.00/trip.

Abstract

Numerical study was conducted by using ABAQUS software to investigate two issues on spun pile connections. The issues are usage of non-shrinkage concrete infill cast inside hollow of pile and ductility. An experimental test was carried out to investigate the effect of two different concrete infill types which were common concrete fc’ 35 MPa and non-shrinkage concrete fc’ 54 MPa. A finite element model was validated against experimental test. The results were compared in terms of hysteresis curve, ductility, and performance level. Ductility is one of the important parameters to describe performance of spun pile connections under seismic load. There are different approaches to calculate ductility and this leads to four different ductility values. Hence, ductility of spun pile with concrete infill is in the range of 3.2 to 4.8. Behavior of spun pile with non-shrinkage concrete infill is slightly improved although the results were almost similar.

Abstract

Bus transportation existence in Central Kalimantan is very important because it is able to carry out mass transportation, connecting and reaching all areas of Central Kalimantan. This research was conducted to obtain the appropriate amount of vehicle operating costs and passenger fares to be applied under normal conditions and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Primary data were obtained through questionnaires, namely vehicle operating costs components data and passenger trips data. Analysis was carried out based on Decree of Transportation Minister No. KM. 89 of 2002. Vehicle operating costs per seat kilometer for the Palangka Raya – Pangkalan Bun route on the Damri Bus are IDR 131.04/seat-km, while the Logos Bus is IDR 170.97/seat-km. Under normal conditions, the Damri Bus fare is IDR 190,453/passenger, while the Logos Bus fare is IDR 134,241/passenger. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Damri Bus fare was IDR 216,707/pnp, while the Logos bus fare was IDR 198,435/pnp.

Abstract

Nowadays, using recyled aggregate and seawater as replacing natural aggregate and freshwater in mixing have been main priority to be a new concrete construction material. However, in order to asses their strength performance in fast and accurate, an appropriate method needs to be determined. Therefore, the aim of this research is to evaluate and predict the compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) mixed seawater using Schmidt rebound hammer test (SRH) and the result value was corresponded to concrete compressive testing machine (CTM) as control test of concrete specimens. Total 72 samples divided into three concrete mixtures were designed and prepared in cylindrical samples with w/c ratio of 0.45 and target compressive strength of 25 MPa. The first mixture was named natural aggregate concrete (NAC) or BAN as control concrete with 100% natural aggregate and fresh water. The second and third mixtures were named BAR-50 and BAR-100 with the BAN replacement of 50% and 100% RAC respectively. Seawater as mixing was performed in mixture concrete of BAR-50 and BAR-100. All sample mixtures were then wet cured at different age of 7, 28, 56 and 90 days in fresh water. The results show a good correlation between SRH and CTM tests with having high correlation of R2=0.9908. Also, a proposed mathematical model, equation 1, is created for quick calculation in predicting compressive strength of RCA. Therefore, the usage of SRH test is a realistic alternative to predict the compressive strength of recycled concrete with different percentage of replacement of NAC and mixing seawater.

Abstract

The hot asphalt surface layer is layered and has different functions in the pavement structure. In addition to being able to distribute the vertical load of the vehicle, it must also be able to withstand the lateral load of the vehicle. The lateral load of the vehicle that is too large causes a shear force which will have an impact on the release of the bond between the layers of hot asphalt mixture. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research to determine the shear strength between layers of hot asphalt mixture. Several factors that cause the level of bonding strength between layers of hot asphalt mixture are the distribution of the tack coat, the setting time, the type of tack coat, and the presence of adhering dirt. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in the distribution of tack coat 0.25 and 0.35 l/m2 and setting time of 60, 90, and 120 minutes on the shear strength between layers of hot asphalt mix asphalt concrete wearing course (AC-WC) and asphalt concrete base course (AC-BC). The laboratory testing method selected by using modified soil shear test equipment. The test results show that the number of distributions and the length of setting time will cause an increase in the shear strength between the hot asphalt mixture. The maximum shear strength in the distribution of 0.25 l/m2 is 0.59 kg/cm2 and the distribution of 0.35 l/m2 is 0.64 kg/cm2 with a setting time of 120 minutes. It can also be concluded that setting time has a more significant effect on shear strength between asphalt pavement layers than the distribution of tack coat.

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to identify and analyze indicators of the causes of corrupt practices in the construction sector in West Sumatra. Research methodology used descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analysis used in the test is Cronbach's Alpha. The results of Cronbach's Alpha test can be seen in the value in the Corrected Item-Total Correlation column for the number of variables as many as 30 can be seen in r table 0.361. This is also supported by Cronbach's alpha value of 0.960. The indicator that causes corruption in the first rank is the existence of tender evaluations that do not meet the criteria (X9). Conclusion in this research are 10 variables (out of 30 variables) indicators of the causes of corrupt practices in construction projects in West Sumatra.

Abstract

Problems that are often encountered in road construction are poor and unstable soil conditions. Soil conditions greatly affect the design process and the durability of the road. One thing that is usually done to improve soil properties is to add mixed materials to improve the soil properties. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding Waste Glass Powder (WGP) on soil consistency and CBR value. The percentage of WGP used is 2.5%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 25%. The result is that the addition of WGP has significantly improved soil quality. The value of the plasticity index of the soil decreases, which means that the potential for swelling and shrinkage of the soil is also decreased. The CBR value of the soil also increased to 341.04%.
