Abstract

Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) has many benefits for human and animal health and has been widely used as a probiotic. One of the LAB is the genus Lactobacillus which consists of many species used for fermentation and food preservation. This study was conducted to isolate and identify the LAB of the genus Lactobacillus from the faeces of wild Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) at the Suaq Belimbing Research Station in South Aceh. Bacterial isolation was carried out using Man Rogosa Sharpe Agar (MRSA). Colonies that grew on MRSA media were observed for morphology and were Gram stained. Biochemical tests were conducted using KIT API 50 CHL. Data analysis used the Apiweb computer program Version V-5.2. The results showed that the OUL isolate was a species of Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp delbrueckii, with an identity of 93.8%. Based on this, it can be concluded that there is a Lactic Acid Bacteria of the Lactobacillus in the faeces of wild Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) at the Suaq Belimbing Research Station in South Aceh.

Abstract

An experimental study on the implementation of guided inquiry learning method to improve students’ understanding and science processing skills in the concept of characteristics of organism has been conducted at MTsN Rukoh Banda Aceh in class VII. The aims of this study were (1) to determine the understanding of the concept of characteristics of living things through the application of guided inquiry learning, (2) to find out the improvement of students’ science processing skills in the concept of characteristics of living things by using guided inquiry learning, and (3) to determine the difference of understanding enhancement of the concept among the students who get guided inquiry learning. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 16.0 for Windows. The results showed that (1) there was an improvement of understanding of the concept in the experimental class with an average value was 61.95, while the control class was 35.70 with the difference was 26.25 and (2) the observation of teachers' activities showed that the interactions of teachers and students developed better compared to conventional learning. It can be concluded that (1) there was a significant difference between the application of guided inquiry method and conventional methods to increase students 'understanding of concepts (2) there was an increasing of students’ understanding of the concept and science processing skills through the implementation of guided inquiry learning.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop an instrument for affective assessment to measure students’ attitude on norms and values in the concept of Indonesian’s biological diversity. A developmental research was conducted from February to March 2015. The results showed that from 60 items of affective instruments of modified likert scale which was designed by the researcher and then validated by 3 experts’ lecturers, It was found that there were 44 triable instruments. From 44 items that have been tried out to 272 respondents, there were only 12 invalid items with the coefficient of correlation was ≤ 0.3. The reliability of the item was 0.868 which was categorized as good. After the next trial, 32 items of instrument were tried out to 100 respondents to measure students’ attitudes. It was found that the average of students’ attitude was 103.97 which was considered as having positive attitudes. It can be concluded that the quality of developed-likert scale item instrument for assessing affective domain has been valid and reliable. It has fulfilled the criteria of a good tool to assess attitude domain.

Abstract

Tujuan Pembelajaran IPA bukan hanya menyampaikan konsep pada mahamahasiswa tetapi juga memberikan pengalaman pada mahasiswa untuk mengembangkan keterampilan proses, sehingga mahamahasiswa dapat menemukan sendiri konsep yang akan dipelajarinya secara mandiri. Pembelajaran IPA yang berlangsung di jurusan PGMI selama ini cenderung dilakukan dengan menyampaikan konsep materi pada mahamahasiswa sehingga keterampilan proses mahamahasiswa tidak terkembangkan dengan baik. Penelitian tentang Peningkatan keterampilan sains mahamahasiswa PGMI melalui Penerapan Pendekatan Keterampilan Proses pada pembelajaran bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan Peningkatan Keterampilan Proses Sains mahamahasiswa PGMI setelah diajarkan dengan pendekatan keterampilan proses. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Sampel diambil dua unit yaitu 1 dan 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah tes untuk menguji kemampuan keterampilan proses mahasiswa. Tes dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari dua tahap yaitu Pre-Test dan Post Test. Analisis data menggunakan rumus persentase. Berdasarkan pengolahan data hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa pada umumnya sekitar 80- 94% mahasiswa kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan pada semua aspek keterampilan proses sains, sedangkan untuk mahasiswa kelas kontrol, sebagian besar mahasiswa hanya mengalami peningkatan keterampilan proses sains sekitar 60- 79%. Data ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan keterampilan proses pada konsep dapat meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains mahamahasiswa PGMI Kata Kunci: Pendekatan Keterampilan Proses, dan Peningkatan Keterampilan Proses Mahasiswa. The Learning objectives of IPA (science subject) are not only to explain the concept to students but also to give experience to the studeSnts to develop processing skills, so that students can construct the knowledge by themselves. Lately, the learning process in PGMI tended to be carried out by transferring the concept to the students so that the students’ processing skill have not developed well. This research aimed to analyze and describe the improvement of science processing skill of PGMI’s students after implementing the science processing skill approach. This study used experimental method. Two units of classes were chosen as the samples of the research, namely experimental class and control one. The data collecting technique used in this research was test of processing skill, namely pre-test and post-test. The data then analyzed by using percentage formula. The result showed that in general, all aspects of science processing skills were increased about 80 to 94% in experimental class, whereas for the control class, the science processing skills of students were increased around 60% to 79 %. It indicated that the implementation of the science processing approach to the concept could improve science processing skills of PGMI’s students. Abstract

The forest area in Pidie District was decreased by illegal logging, forest conversion, mining and road construction without regard to environmental aspects.This study aims to (1) knewabout local wisdom in Qanun Mukim Lutueng about forest management (2) knew the potential development of community forest in Mukim Lutueng (3) analyzed the community perceptions and behaviours about forest conservation. This study was conducted on 1 October 2015 to 30 April 2016in Mukim Lutueng, Pidie District, Aceh Province. The research method is ethnography with Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). The result shown thatLocal wisdom in forest management consist of the law in forest activities management, suggestion and prohibition, and local community of forest management. The potential development of community forest support by civil society organizations (NGOs) with community empowerment and government community institution. Perceptions and behaviours towards qanun implementation and community forest in Mukim Lutueng was strong perceptions and with strong attitudes especially shown by community people in three villages; Mane, Lutueng and Blang Dalam. Meanwhile, the communitypeople of Turue Cut showed the weak level of perceptions and attitudes towards the qanun implementation and community forest in Mukim Lutueng. The community law (qanun) threatened by illegal gold mining activities and illegal logging. Community people need an alternative economythat does not rely on the resources of the forest.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effect of mercury waste polluted water of traditional gold mining on cerebellum of fetal rat prenatal development. The water samples were taken from Rantau Panyang village and Paya seumantok village, Krueng Sabee District, Aceh Jaya. There were fifteen virgin female rat of wistar groove ten weeks old and 160 g ± 10 g body weight in average and fifteen male rats 15 weeks old and 200 g ± 20 g body weight in average were used as research objects. After female ratsinbreeded by single mating and positively pregnant in the first day, they were then directly treated. After that, they were divided into 3 treatments and five repetitions. The treatments were by giving aquadest as control (P0), river water (P1), and PDAM water (P2). Both river water and PDAM water were taken from gold mill at Krueng sabee, Aceh Jaya. The diameter of purkinje cell were analyzed by using anova and continued by Tukey test in the level of 5%. The result showed that the treatments could decrease the diameter of purkinje cells of fetus.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tanggal 12-17 Agustus 2012. Tujuan penelitian adalah (1) Untuk mengetahui kepadatan spesies plankton yang terdapat di waduk Keuliling KecamatanKuta Cot Glie Kabupaten Aceh Besar; (2) untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman spesies plankton yang terdapat di Waduk Keuliling Kecamatan Kuta Cot Glie Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode purpovise sampling, pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada lima stasiun. Objek penelitian ini adalah semua spesies plankton yang terdapat di wilayah penelitian. Analisis data secara deskriptif dalam bentuk tabel dan gambar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 26 spesies plankton yang ditemukan, kepadatan plankton di Waduk Keuliling Kecamatan Kuta Cot Glie Kabupaten Aceh Besar adalah 15463,918 ind/l. Spesies yang mendominasi dari golongan Fitoplankton adalah spesies Gloetrichia echinulata 30% (1299,674 ind/L) sedangkan golongan zooplankton didominasi oleh spesies Branchionus sp 64 % (837,078 ind/L). Hasil analisis indeks keanekaragaman di perairan Waduk Keuliling Kecamatan Kuta Cot Glie Kabupaten Aceh Besar menunjukkan keanekaragaman sedang dengan indeks keanekaragaman 3,150. Kata Kunci: Keanekaragaman, Plankton dan Waduk Keliling This study was conducted on 12 to 17 August 2012. The purpose of the study is (1) To determine the density of plankton species found in reservoirs Keuliling KecamatanKuta Cot Glie Aceh Besar district. (2) To determine the diversity of plankton species contained in the reservoir Keuliling Kuta Cot Glie District of Aceh Besar district. The method used is purpovise sampling method, sampling was conducted at five stations. Object of this research is all the plankton species found in the study area. Analysis of descriptive data in the form of tables and figures. The results showed that of the 26 species of plankton are found, the density of plankton in reservoirs Keuliling Kuta Cot Glie District of Aceh Besar is 15463.918 ind / l. Dominating species is a species of phytoplankton groups Gloetrichia echinulata 30% (1299.674 ind / L) while the group is dominated by species of zooplankton Branchionus sp 64% (837.078 ind / L). The results of the analysis of diversity index in reservoir waters Keuliling Kuta Cot Glie District of Aceh Besar showed diversity with diversity index was 3.150. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the discipline and responsibility to the student's final grade. This study is an ex post facto research with population of Physical and Health Education students. The sample number is 100 students using a purposive sampling technique. The data was analyzed using the correlation and regression formula. The results of data analyzing is that  r1 = 0.87, r2 = 0.4, R1 = 0.67, r3 = 0.68, r4 = 0.79 and R2 = 0.77. It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the discipline and the responsibilities towards the final grades of the Physical and Health Education students.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the growth of guava cuttings (Syzygium equaeum) by administering a chemical and natural growth regulator from onion extract (Allium cepa L). This study uses Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 2 treatment factors and 3 replications. The first treatment is the utilization of chemical growth regulators, which consist of C0: no chemical growth regulator, C1: 20 ml chemical growth regulator / 1 liter of water) / cuttings; C2: 20 ml chemical growth regulator / 2 liters of water) / cuttings. The second treatment is the application of natural growth regulators onion extract, which consist of A0: no onion extract, A1: 20 ml onion extract /1 liter of water / cuttings, A2: 30 ml onion extract / 2 liters of water) / cuttings. The highest growth results of cuttings are in C0A1, C0A2 and C2A2, because of auxin and gibberellin hormone in C0A1 and C0A2 where the auxin lengthen the stem and roots, and the gibberellins support the leaf growth, and elongation of shoots and roots.

Abstract

Biodiversity is one of the important components in efforts to manage conservation of resources, this study aims to determine the type of fungus Basidiomycota Division found in Pucok Krueng Raba Nature Tourism, Aceh Besar District. The study was conducted with a roaming method (explorative survey) by directly observing macroscopic fungi found in the tourist attraction area of Pucok Krueng Raba, Aceh Besar Regency, the research location was divided into 3 observation stations. From the results of the study found 12 types of fungi from the Basidiomycota division which is divided into 10 families and most families found in Maramiaceae. The air temperature in the region is 29 C and the humidity is 76%.
