Abstract

The palm oil industry as an important industry in Indonesia is demanded to conduct business in a sustainable way, including the implementation of green supply chain management (GSCM). However, in order to implement GSCM in the oil palm industry there are many barriers, but not yet comprehensively formulated what the barriers are and how to eliminate it. This study aims to identify barriers GSCM in the palm oil industry in Indonesia, to model the relationship between GSCM barriers and to classify any of it to the palm oil industry in Indonesia using the MICMAC approach. The interpretive structural modeling method was used in this study, where the stages began with a literature study to obtain GSCM indicators of the palm oil industry in Indonesia, then breakdown to get the barriers. The structural self-interaction matrix (SSIM) is then structured based on contextual relationships between obstacles by experts who have worked in the palm oil industry. Furthermore, SSIM is converted into a binary matrix. To get the level of each barrier, the level partitions stage is used to developing a chart and a model between the GSCM barriers in the palm oil industry in Indonesia. This research resulted in 15 GSCM barriers in the palm oil industry, then arranged into a 6-level model of GSCM barriers and divided into four clusters. The implication of this research is the addition of knowledge about GSCM especially the palm oil industry. While managerially giving direction on the strategy to eliminate GSCM barriers in the palm oil industry.

Abstract

The increasing volume of waste in Bantul Regency is a problem that must be solved. One of the things that the Regency Government does is by promoting waste banks. From the existing waste banks, citizen participation is still low, so it is not significant enough to reduce the volume of waste disposed of at the Piyungan landfill. One of the factors identified is the low interest of residents to join the waste bank. For this reason, a study of citizens' behavior is needed so that they join the waste bank with a theory of planned behavior coupled with knowledge of how and what and knowledge of consequences factors. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to members of the garbage bank. The number of respondents was 1265 from 29 waste banks spread throughout Bantul Regency. The method of data analysis uses linear regression. Research shows that attitudes, perceived behavioral control, knowledge of how and what, and knowledge of consequences have positive and significant effects, both simultaneously and partially, on the intention of residents to join the waste bank. Intention is also a significant positive and significant effect on behavior.

Abstract

Flow shop scheduling problems much studied by several researchers. One problem with scheduling is the tardiness. Total tardiness is the performance to minimize tardiness jobs. it is the right performance if there is a due date. This study proposes the Cross-Entropy Genetic Algorithm (CEGA) method to minimize the mean tardiness in the flow shop problem. In some literature, the CEGA algorithm is used in the case of minimizing the makespan. However, CEGA not used in the case of minimizing total tardiness. CEGA algorithm is a combination of the Cross-Entropy Algorithm which has a function to provide optimal sampling distribution and Genetic Algorithms that have functions to get new solutions. In some numeric experiments, the proposed algorithm provides better performance than some algorithms. For computing time, it is affected by the number of iterations. The higher the iteration, computing requires high time.

Abstract

This research explores some potential factors that affect the continuance intention of a mobile payment service. The trend of mobile payment services has been increasing since the last few years. The advancing technology of the internet and smartphone has been a supporting environment for the growth of this method. Many similar mobile payment services are offered in the community which results in a highly competitive business condition. The business owner who has put a high investment in this business will surely want to keep it running and even grow their product. Therefore, some knowledge of factors that can significantly promote the sustained use of their product to customers will be imperative. In this research, some existing models on the general repurchase intention concept and users’ continuance intention will be combined and tested to figure out some influential aspects to continuance intention concept. Seven factors are hypothesized to have direct and indirect effects. Data from 193 respondents are gathered and the results of the tested model shows perceived quality, perceived value, and brand preference subsequently influence the continuance intention. Further analysis is also conducted in this research to explain the relationship between factors as well as analysis of current mobile payment providers.

Abstract

The geographical condition of Sungai Pisang Village located on the coastal fringe and not too far from the famous island tourism which potential in West Sumatera becomes an opportunity for the people of Sungai Pisang, especially the fishermen to increase their standard of living. But in reality, the outsiders in the Bungus area are more likely to take advantage of the opportunity because of their location close to the city center. The tourists can only be seen from afar by biduk fishermen of Sungai Pisang. Most tourists prefer to use Tour and Travel services from Bungus area. Biduk fishermen are only bringing few tourists to the island tour even though the price offered is much cheaper. Based on preliminary study, there are problems such as the lack of knowledge of the fisherman on the effective product marketing strategy. So far, there are no marketing tools to promote the transportation services of biduk fisherman to the island tourism in the Sungai Pisang broadly. Therefore, it is necessary to design a marketing information system for island tourism biduk. The marketing information system is a mobile web-based designed using PHP programming language and supported by the MySQL database. The information marketing system is expected to increase the number of tourists who use the island tourism biduk as an effort to increase the sustainable fishermen's economy. The geographical condition of Sungai Pisang Village located on the coastal fringe and not too far from the famous island tourism which potential in West Sumatera becomes an opportunity for the people of Sungai Pisang, especially the fishermen to increase their standard of living. Abstract

The objective of this study is to model the technological, organizational, and environmental factors influencing the intention of food manufacturing Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to fulfill halal standard requirements. The research was conducted in Surakarta city in which halal-certified SMEs became the research object. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Model-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Technological factors were measured by the perceived benefit and complexity of the halal procedure. An organizational factor was measured by SMEs awareness towards the halal standards. While the environmental factor was measured using external pressure. The result shows that the estimated model found support only for the role of perceived benefit of halal standard implementation in influencing the intention of food manufacturing SMEs to fulfill halal standard requirements. Other hypotheses were in the predicted direction but not statistically significant. A little less than half (R2 = 0.413) of the variability in the intention to fulfill halal standard requirements is explained by the four variables. The structural model in this study has a predictive relevance at a moderate level with a Q2 value of 0.208. Based on the findings of this study, it is expected that the government always explains the benefits of adopting a halal standard to the food manufacturing SMEs. Theoretically, this study makes a contribution to enriching the research literature regarding halal certification adoption factors among food manufacturing SMEs.

Abstract

Crumb rubber industry only depends on one main raw material that is called Bahan Olah Karet (Bokar). Based on the observation of several crumb rubber factories in West Sumatera, the company still uses an unsystematic way of choosing the suppliers of bokar. The weakening of the supplier’s supervision system causes bokar that received by the company, in terms of quality and quantity are not met properly. The way to solve these issues is to develop a fuzzy model for supplier assessment of bokar. The first step is the identification of criteria using FDM. Then developing a mathematical model. This research has been successfully developed a mathematical model where FAHP is used to determine the weight of supplier assessment criteria, combined with signed distance at the defuzzification stage. While FTOPSIS is used to obtain suppliers ranking. Through the survey using FDM, we obtain 6 main criteria and 18 subcriteria which relevant to the conditions of the crumb rubber industry in West Sumatera.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to provide a mathematical model that can explain the relationship between the unemployment rate, openness to technology, and people development initiatives to overcome technology development. These research discussions were carried out in the context of predicted technological developments related to Industry 4.0 which caused the loss of several jobs and formed new business models that will provide new jobs. The method used is to using system approach so that mathematical modeling can be obtained from Influence Diagrams which have been designed in previous research. Mathematical models illustrate that openness to technology is directly proportional to the number of unemployed. And the unemployment rate is inversely proportional to the level of human resource development. Development of human resources that are too large without being carried out with openness and technological progress, can also cause unemployment. This mathematical model can be used as a decision maker to understand and establish appropriate policies in the face of this Industry 4.0 change.

Abstract

Many research about portfolio optimization in Indonesia still uses the ‘original’ mean-variance model as proposed by Markowitz more than 60 years ago. This article reviews the development and modification of the Markowitz’s mean-variance model, especially that dealing with real stock-market features, which could help the investor to create their own portfolio. There were several real-stock market features that implemented in the modification of mean-variance portfolios optimization models, such as the minimum transaction lots, the transaction cost, the cardinality constraint, the weight constraint, and the sectoral constraint. To implement these features, several heuristic methods were used to obtain the optimal portfolio weight, such as genetic algorithm, Tabu search, bee colony algorithm, particle swarm algorithm, and simulated annealing. These methods become alternative to the mathematical programming method.

Abstract

Facial expression was proven to show a person's emotions, including 6 basic human emotions, namely happy, sad, surprise, disgusted, angry, and fear. Currently, the recognition of basic emotions is applied using the automatic facial expression analysis software. In fact, not all emotions are performed with the same expressions. This study aims to analyze whether the six basic human emotions can be recognized by software. Ten subjects were asked to spontaneously show the expressions of the six basic emotions sequentially. Subjects are not given instructions on how the standard expressions of each of the basic emotions are. The results show that only happy expressions can be consistently identified clearly by the software, while sad expressions are almost unrecognizable. On the other hand surprise expressions tend to be recognized as mixed emotions of surprise and happy. There are two emotions that are difficult to express by the subject, namely fear and anger. The subject interpretation of these two emotions varies widely and tends to be unrecognizable by software. The conclusion of this study is the way a person shows his emotions varies. Although there are some similarities in expression, it cannot be proven that all expressions of basic human emotions can be generalized. Further implication of this research needs further discussion.
