Abstract

Goldfish (Carassius auratus L.), one of the most popular and freshwater ornamental fish to be cultivated in Indonesia. One obstacle in the cultivation of Carassius auratus L. is the high feed cost (60-70%) of the total production cost. The natural food source for fish Carassius auratus L. is Tubifex sp. which has a high nutritional content. The aim of the study was to determine the dosage of Tubifex sp. best for the growth and survival rate of goldfish (C. auratus L.). This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Water Quality and Aquatic Biology, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Tadulako University for 2 month (January to March 2020). The experimental design used a Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment in this study was the administration of silk worms with different doses (A = 6%; B = 8%; C = 10%; D = 12%; E = 14%). The variables measured included absolute weight growth, survival and water quality. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA), with further tests BNJ using Excel 2010 and Minitab 16 application programs. The results showed that the natural feed (Tubifex sp.) shows a significant growth in absolute weight, but has no effect on survival. The absolute growth of goldfish seeds was the highest in the feeding of Tubifex sp. with a dose of 12% of 14.82 ± 2.76 g with a survival rate of 90.63% ± 6.25. Water quality (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and ammonia) is still in accordance with the growth needs of goldfish fry.

Abstract

Produktivitas dalam usaha pemeliharaan ternak kambing memiliki peranan yang sangat menentukan untuk meraih hasil yang cukup optimal. Reproduksi induk merupakan gambaran dari kemampuan induk bereproduksi, terutama dalam kemampuan induk untuk melahirkan sejumlah anak dan kemampuan untuk menyusui selama anak periode prasapih. Jumlah anak sekelahiran (litter size) sangat menentukan laju peningkatan populasi ternak kambing, karena jumlah anak sekelahiran yang tinggi dan tetap hidup sampai sapih akan dapat mempengaruhi kenaikan populasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar tingkat produktivitas induk kambing di Desa Dolago Kec. Parigi Selatan Kab. Parigi Mautong. Produktivitas induk kambing di Desa Dolago baik, hal ini dapat dilihat dari tingginya kelahiran, dengan jumlah sebesar 111,11% serta dalam kurun waktu satu tahun jumlah anak ternak kambing yang lahir dari 18 ekor induk adalah 20 ekor terdiri dari 8 ekor jantan dan 12 ekor betina. Hal ini dapat menggambarkan bahwa tingkat produktivitas ternak kambing di Desa Dolago adalah baik.

Abstract

Some problems in Betta splendens cultivate activities were slow growth and mortality rates still high in the larval stage. Generally, Betta splendens larvae require a feed type based to the larval mouth. Some types of feed that can be given for larvae were Infusoria and yolk suspension. The study aims to find out the growth and survival rate of Betta splendens giving different first feeding. The study was conducted in January-February 2019 at Laboratory of Water Quality and Aquatic Biota, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Tadulako University. The study used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 3 treatments: A (infusoria); B (egg yolk); C (infusoria and egg yolk). Data were analyzed with ANOVA. The results showed that giving different first feeding did not significantly affect the growth of Betta splendens. The highest weight in the treatment of infusoria feed and the highest percentage of survival rate in the treatment of egg yolk.

Abstract

Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari – februari 2017 di Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Fakultas Peternakan dan Perikanan, Universitas Tadulako. Organisne uji yang digunakan adalah juvenil udang kaki putih (P. vannamei) sebanyak 5 ekor/wadah. Prosedur penelitian meliiputi persiapan wadah, tahapan ekstraksi getah buah pepaya, Penambahan ekstrak getah buah pepaya pada pakan buatan dan pemeliharan. Penelitian didesain dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan 4 kali ulangan yaitu pakan buatan dengan enzim papain 0% (kontrol), 1%, 3% 5% dan 7%. Hasil penlitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan enzim papain pada pakan buatan tidak memberikan pengaruh (P>0,05) terhadap pertumbuhan dan feed convertion ratio (FCR). Nilai rata-rata pertumbuhan bobot mutlak tertinggi terdapat perlakuan B penambahan enzim papain dosis 3% yaitu sebesar 32,723 g dan memberikan nilai FCR antara 0,054-0,058. Nilai kelangsungan hidup udang kaki putih (P. vannamei) berkisar antara 95-100%.

Abstract

This study aims to test the best substitution level of turmeric flour in rations on the growth performance of male turkeys aged 24-29 weeks in the experimental cage of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, University of Tadulako which is located in Sibalaya Village, Tanambulava District, Sigi Regency for 5 weeks. This study was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD), namely R0 = without + turmeric flour in the ration (control), R1 = 99.5% control ration + 0.5% turmeric flour, R2 = 99.5% control ration + 1 % turmeric flour, R3 = 99.5% control ration + 1.5% turmeric flour. The research variables were ration consumption, body weight gain, and ration conversion. The results showed that using turmeric flour as a feed additive had no significant effect on ration consumption, body weight gain, and ration conversion for male turkeys aged 24-29 weeks.

Abstract

Turkey is a type of poultry from the order Galliformes, the genus Meleaagriss which is starting to get public attention for cultivation. The cultivation of turkey in Indonesia is still lacking, most of the breeders prefer other types of poultry. Turkey is a type of poultry that has the potential to be developed as a meat animal, because it has a large body size and is able to utilize feed ingredients in the form of grains and forage. This study aims to determine the growth of male turkeys aged 19-25 weeks at different energy levels. The research was carried out in the experimental cage of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries in South Sibalaya Village, Tanambulava District, Sigi Regency, on June 24 - July 29 2018. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments are R1 = Rations with Metabolic Energy of 2800 Kcal/Kg, R2 = Rations with Metabolic Energy of 2900 Kcal/Kg, R3 = Rations with Metabolic Energy of 3000 Kcal/kg. The variables observed were rations consumption, body weight gain and rations conversion. The results showed that the treatment had a significant effect (P <0.05) on rations consumption, had no significant effect (P> 0.05) to increase of body weight and rations conversion. Using energy levels of 3000 Kcal/Kg gives a positive result on rations consumption for male turkeys aged 19-25 weeks.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the ability of aquaponic systems using different numbers of water spinach (Ipomea aquatica) clumps in reducing ammonia in tilapia (Orechromis niloticus) culture. This study was designed in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replicates, namely Treatment A (without water spinach), B (3 clumps of water spinach), C (6 clumps of water spinach), D (9 clumps of water spinach) and E (12 clumps of water spinach). This study was conducted for 60 days in November-December 2018 at the Fish Reproduction Laboratory, Brawijaya University, Malang. The results showed that the use of different numbers of water spinach clumps in the aquaponic system had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the reduction of ammonia and nitrite concentrations, but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the reduction of nitrate and absolute growth of tilapia. The highest ammonia and nitrite reduction concentrations were found in the treatment of 12 water spinach clumps 84.31% and 69.88%, respectively.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the nutrient content of the bioconverted palm oil sludge using Rhizopusoligosporus so that it is suitable as functional feed. The used materials were oil palm mud flour and Rhizopusoligosporus fungus. The research design used a factorial completely randomized design with 8 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment consisted of two factors, the first factor was 4 concentrations, namely (0%, 5%, 10% and 15%) and two fermentation times, namely (60 and 96 hours). All treatments were analyzed for nutrient content including dry matter content (BK), crude protein (PK) and crude fiber (SK) fermented palm sludge. The results of the analysis of variety showed that the treatment had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on the content of BK, PK, SK and there was an interaction between the concentration of fungi and fermentation time on SK. The highest dry matter content for BK was obtained in W2K15 treatment (83.24%), PK on W2K15 (18.44%), and SK on W2K15 (24.00%).

Abstract

Minimnya produksi telur menjadi kendala dalam budidaya ikan pelangi kurumoi (Melanotaenia parva), oleh karena itu penelitian mengenai pengaru watna substrat terhadap produksi telur perlu dilakukan. Penelitian dilaksanakan mulai bulan Februari sampai dengan Maret 2016. Penelitian bertempat di Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Budidaya Ikan Hias (BPPBIH) Depok Jawa-Barat. Ikan rainbow yang digunakan diperoleh dari balai dan Prosedur penelitian meliputi tahap persiapan untuk tempat pemijahan dan tempat inkubasi telur, kemudian melakukan seleksi dan pemeliharaan induk. dan tahap perlakuan pemijahan berdasarkan warna substrat. Data yang diperoleh meliputi data produksi telur, derajat pembuahan (FR), derajat penetasan(HR). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai tertinggi untuk rata-rata produksi telur sebesar 20 butir dengan warna substrat kuning, rata-rata derajat pembuahan (FR) tertinggi sebesar 92,29 dengan warna substrat hijau dan derajat penetasan sebesar 90,95.

Abstract

Previous studies have succeeded in isolating, and the basic sequence of mRNA encoding FAMeT Scylla olivacea. Several studies have noted that the FAMeT encoding mRNA sequence has differences in crustacean species. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between S. olivacea and other crustaceans based on the FAMeT encoding mRNA sequence. The similarity of the FAMeT encoding mRNA sequences showed that several crustaceans had similarities to the FAMeT mRNA sequences of S. olivacea. The phylogeny tree analysis showed the existence of 2 clusters of the relationship between the mRNA encoding FAMeT of S. olivacea on the same branch as 2 other crab species: S. serrata and S. paramamosain. It was also found in Portunus trituberculatus and P. pelagicus and river prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii. These findings indicated that the S. olivacea crab was monophyletic with 2 other mangrove crabs, namely the crab and the river prawn M. rosenbergii. So that describes a very close kinship relationship genetically. Meanwhile, the second branch consists of crustaceans such as Homarus americanus, Cherax quadricarinatus, Fenneropenaeus merguiensis, Metapenaeus ensis and Litopenaeus vannamei.
