Abstract

Prebiotics which are non-digestible ingredients that benefit the host by stimulating growth and activity of health promoting bacteria. This research aimed to know blood parameters of tilapia with the addition of different dose of prebiotics in feed. Fish were feed four times daily in ad satiation. The feed used was commercially feed with 32 % carbohydrates, 7 % lipids and 30 % proteins. The prebiotic used was extracted from sweet potato so called sukuh variety. The experiment were done with three treatments and three replicates, namely 0% prebiotic, 1% prebiotic and 2% prebiotic. The result showed that application of prebiotic in feed can promote better tilapia blood parameters and immune system compared to control. The treatment with the addition of 1% prebiotic showed best result to improve leucocyte, lymphocytes and the phagocytic index among other treatments.Keyword: blood parameters, immune system, prebiotic, Tilapia

Abstract

The potential fisheries in Indonesia has been used by the community in various ways and scale. Most of the existing fishing effort is a small-scale business with a variety of problems faced including the increase in cost, aquatic environment degradation, decline in the catch as well as problems related to non-targeted fishes. In order to overcome these problems required an Appropriate Technology so that the small-scale fishing enterprises can continue to evolve. Types of appropriate technology or so called TTG, which can be adopted to improve the efficiency of small-scale fishing enterprises, namely: attractor squid, deep-sea traps, and fish meat bone separator "Suritech ™". The presence of TTG is expected to provide added value both in economic, ecological and sustainability of fishery resources so that sustainable fisheries can be realized and felt by all walks of life

Abstract

Gonggong Lake is one of the lentic waters, located at Cipicung village Cikedal District Pandeglang Banten. Gonggong Lake is used as a source of water for irrigation rice fields, O. tilapia culture, tofu production, oncom, social activity, and fishing. This causes made the availability of natural food and resulted in the change balance of ecosystems in the waters. Natural fish foods are the main factor needed in the process of growth, reproduction, and survival of fish. Fish food habits in nature are important to be studied as an effort to manage fishery resources. The study aimed to determine to identify fish food habits in Gonggong Lake. The study was conducted from July to August 2017 at 4 stations, i.e. 1) inlet I; 2) inlet II; 3) center of the lake, and 4) outlet. Fish and food habits identification was conducted at the laboratory of aquaculture, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. The results of this study in Gonggong Lake, there are 5 species of fish caught namely Oreochromis niloticus, Barbonymus gonionotus, Trichogaster trichopterus, Channa striata, and Glossogobius giuris. Food habits in Gonggong Lake  are dominated by herbivorous fish with main food of phytoplankton and plant parts. Natural foods are dominated by phytoplankton consist of the Chlorophyta, Chrysophyta, Cyanophyta, Cryptophyta, and Euglenophyta groups.

Abstract

Palm oil mill effluent has potential as a pollutant and can reduce the aquatic productivity. One of the organisms potentially affected by palm oil mill effluent is phytoplankton. The study on the phytoplankton community in Krueng Mane river was done from July to September 2016. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the structure of the phytoplankton community in Krueng Mane river due to input palm oil mill effluent. The explorative survey was done at three sampling sites along the river. Sampling sites were determined based on purposive sampling method by looking human activity around the sites. The results show that there are seven classes of phytoplankton. The highest abundance of the phytoplankton was found at sampling site 2 (25.645 individual/liter). The diversity index showed that all of the sampling locations have a moderate degree of diversity, but the stations 2 have unstable community than the other two stations (E = 0.685).Saprobic coefficient indicates that station 2 included into moderate polluted β/α mesosaprobic

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a type of aquaculture commodity that has high economic value. This research aims to know the effect of feeding of rice bran fermentation on feed raw material to the parameter digestibility and growth of tilapia. The used tilapia were sized 5.33 ± 0.00 g/fish with stocking density 15 fish/40 L (aquarium). Fish were fed three times daily in ad satiation. This study used three treatment with four replications, namely (A) commercial feed as control, (B) commercial feed with the addition of rice bran fermentation with Aspergillus niger, (C) commercial feed with the addition of rice bran without fermentation. The results showed that the feed (B) can improve nutrient digestibility and growth of tilapia with dry matter digestibility of 67,87 ± 2,44 %, protein digestibility of 85.04 ± 3.28 %, feed intake of 230 ± 4.08 g, final weight 11.81 ± 0.45 g, specific growth rate of 1.65 ± 0.40 % and survival rate of 75.00 ± 0.11 % compared to the other treatments

Abstract

Jakarta is the capital of the state whose condition is very dense; to meet the requirement of land for the development and expansion of Jakarta, the reclamation of Jakarta Bay was planned. In addition to overcome the limitations of the land, reclamation activities will also be able to play a very important role in the rearrangement and can give a distinctive character to the area Ancol Beach.   One of the activities affected due to the reclamation of Jakarta Bay is a fisheries activity.  Fishermen in the Bay of Jakarta actually have shown opposition to reclamation, so the control of ongoing projects and activities related to dredging is necessary to ensure that the impacts are very minimal impact on fisheries and aquaculture activities. It was required a study of the impact of reclamation on fisheries  activities and fishermen adaptation.  The objectives of this study are (1) to understand the knowledge and acceptance of the fishermen to the reclamation activity, (2) to understand the fishing community's perception of the impact of reclamation and (3) to understand the patterns of adaptation of the fishing communities due to the reclamation.  Desktop study and interview were conducted to collect the data.  Calculation of composition and GIS analysis were conducted to analyze the data.  The level of knowledge of fishermen in Cilincing, Muara Angke and Muara Baru on reclamation activities showed a low level of knowledge.  Sedimentation during the reclamation process is a major concern to the fisheries. Some fishermen said the reclamation had no impact on the fishing areas. Fishermen will keep trying to catch fish even have to move their fishing areas or have to move their village.Keyword: reclamation, Jakarta Bay, fisheries, fisherman

Abstract

Sunscreen cream products are usually derived from ingredients that contain an anti-UV component. Kaempferia galanga and Turbinaria sp. as long as it was known to have a good anti-UV light. However, research on the formulation of sunscreen creams from the two ingredients has never been done, so the need for research from both materials. The objective of this study was to get the best formulation of sunscreen cream from seaweed (Turbinaria sp.) and K. galanga. The treatments used in this study were the ratio between seaweed Turbinaria sp. and K. galanga in a ratio of 1: 1 (Cream A), 1: 2 (Cream B), 2: 1 (Cream C), and control (Cream D). The overall organoleptic value of aroma was not significantly different, whereas the best value for color and texture was found in cream B with an organoleptic value of color 3.27 and texture 3.2. All treatments were homogeneous and had an O/W emulsion type. pH and viscosity values in all treatments were by the applicable cosmetic cream requirements. The highest SPF value was found in cream B with a value of 18.04 ± 4.72. That makes cream B was the best treatment in this study
