Abstract

One of the problem cultuvation of catfish in the North of Kalimantan is the cost of commercial fish feed in the market is relative expensive. The alternative that can be effort is make feeds by homemade with utilizing local ingredients from nature that is no economi value like fig fruit (F. racemosa) and cassava leaves (M. utillisima) the plants are commonly found in Malinau District. The purpose of the research is to find out the growth of catfish seeds (P. hypophthalmus) by using a combination of  fig fruit (F. racemosa) and cassava leaves (M. utillisima). This research using experimental method, completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. The data obtained were processed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continued with  test  least significant difference. The best absolute weight growth of catfish (P. hypophthalmus) at  the treatment D was (1.21 grams), the best absolute length growth at treatment D was (1.09 cm), the best specific growth at the thirty five (0,013%), the best Feed Covertion Ratio for treatment D was (2.11%) and the best Survival Rate for treatment D was (96.67), while the water quality in ammonia on the threatment A was not better than the optimal value 1 mg / L. Combined feed in treatment C is the best treatment compared to treatments A and B, but the combination feed is still unable to produce better growth when compared to treatment D (Commercial).

Abstract

Bacillus and Lactobacillus are bacteria that can be used in dry-stock probiotics in vannamei shrimp feed. In this study, it was performed to encapsulate Bacillus and Lactobacillus probiotic bacteria in several carrier materials, including rice flour, talc, and maltodextrin. The purpose of this study was to determine the type of carrier material that can provide the best probiotic character in the encapsulation process which will then be used in vannamei shrimp feed. The method used in this study is experimental method. The study was conducted with the preparation stage and the initial probiotic characterization test. Furthermore, Bacillus and Lactobacillus probiotic encapsulation process used spray drying method to produce powder inoculum, as well as advanced characterization test of bacteria that have been encapsulated. The parameters observed were the viability, resistance to temperature, pH and bile salts. Data were analyzed using ANAVA and Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that all types of carrier materials used maintained the probiotic character of Bacillus and Lactobacillus after the encapsulation process. This can be seen from the character of probiotics that are in good category and deserve to be used as a probiotic agent after encapsulation process in the material of rice flour, maltodextrin, and talc.

Abstract

The development of the fisheries industry in Morotai Island District faces major challenges in investment climate recently. Those investment is influenced by fisheries resources, infrastructure, markets and institutions. This paper aims to describe the fishery industry in Morotai Island District, analyze the concept of the fishery industry model, and formulate a strategy for economic integration. Primary data was taken using a structured questionnaire through interviews with respondents and focused group discussions (FGD). The primary information is supplemented by secondary data obtained from district statistical data, research reports, and related scientific publications. Data were analyzed using four methods, namely: descriptive analysis; Analysis of Strengthen, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat (SWOT); Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) analysis; and MIC-MAC analysis. The results from the analysis show the integrated marine and fisheries center (SKPT) policy implementation has had a positive effect on the fisheries industry development in Morotai Island. There are four main influence aspects: (1) marine and fisheries resources (SDKP) management; (2) economic and business development; (3) community development; and (4) regulatory and synergies. The strategy of economic integration is focused on the implementation of the fisheries industry model as the production and export base for fresh tuna.

Abstract

The presence of microplastic in the enviroment is a problem because they are persistent and they are consumed by organisms. Microplastic will affect aquatic life as a result various types of contamination in the aquatic enviroment can enter the body of green mussel. The ability to develop mussel is determined by the strength of the byssus. Utilization of green mussel byssus as biomarker to detect microplastic pollution is still a rare thing to do. The purpose of this study is to know the microplastic effect on the production off green mussel byssus. Green mussel with lengths of 4.1 - 5.0 cm were collected from Maccini Baji Water, Labakkang District, Pangkep Regency. The experimental desigh used is a Completely Randomized Design exposure was carried out for 7 days with microplastics concentration namely 0, 0.05, 0.5 and 5 g/L using polyethylene microplastics usually used as a raw material for scrub bath. The results of study show that production of green mussel byssus exposed at all concentration on day 1-6 were not significantly different at all concentration, but 7 days there significantly different 0 g/L treatment 0 g/L from 5 g/L. This mean that the green mussel byssus can be used as a microplastic pollution biomarker with a testing duration of 7 days

Abstract

Abstract

Cibanten watershed upstream is from Karang Mount (one of that is shallow lake Cibanten water springs), flow in Serang City and the downstream at Banten Bay. From upstream until downstream, Cibanten watershed used by various anthropogenic activities where potentially to increasing trophic state of the waters. This research aimed to evaluate trophic state of Cibanten watershed. Research conducted at April – Mei 2018. Water sample took and measured at three different location, upstream (code: Hu), Central (code: T) and downstream (code: Hi). Water parameters where in-situ measurement was water depth, temperature, secchi depth, water colour, pH, dissolved oxygen and salinity (special for downstream). Water sample analysed at Aquaculture Laboratory of UNTIRTA, the water parameter was phosphate and chlorophyll-a. Trophic state of Cibanten watershed analysed with Trophic State Index (TSI). The result from upstream of Cibanten watershed categorized as mesotrophic, with maximum secchi depth until water bottom and existed some water plant. In the central and downstream of Cibanten watershed categorized as light eutrophic. The significant different between upstream, central and downstream of Cibanten watershed is secchi depth. Low secchi depth at central and downstream due to water turbidity, shown by water colour is yellowbrown that assumed come from suspended solid contents.
