Abstract

The Sunda Strait Tsunami (end of 2018) has an impact on the seagrass ecosystem in Tanjung Lesung. This paper described the seagrass ecosystem’s changes after the tsunami disaster. Sentinel-2 satellite image processing in 2018 and 2019 was used to see changes in the seagrass area. The field data were collected from May–July 2019, including the types of seagrass ecosystems based on data seagrass existence, density and biomass. Then, the seagrass sample was analyzed biomass after the tsunami disaster. The results showed that the data from 2018 – 2019 showed decreased seagrass area from 105.86 to 77.07 ha. Seagrass density dropped quite dramatically, and the species of Halodule uninervis was no longer found. The ratio of after tsunami BG/AbG dry biomass has doubled compared to before the tsunami, which indicates the seagrass's lower biomass is higher than the upper part allegedly due to tsunami impacts. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the seagrass ecosystems changed and disrupted by the tsunami. Keywords: Seagrass, Tanjung Lesung, Tsunami, Sentinel-2

Abstract

Abstract

Kata Kunci: habitat, makrozoobentos, Kalimati Pamarayan, sebaranABSTRACTMacrozoobenthos are organisms that live partly at the bottom of the water, are sedentary, live relatively long, and move relatively slowly.  Macrozoobenthos can serve as a biological indicator in polluted water areas. In Pamarayan, there is habitat destruction characterized by the occurrence of blooming algae. Due to the disturbance of macrozoobenthos habitat, it is necessary to conduct research on the distribution of macrozoobenthos as supporting data for management in the Pamarayan River. The research was conducted in November 2022 through purposive sampling method at 5 observation stations. Data analysis included macrozoobenthos abundance, diversity index, uniformity index, dominance index, morisite index and sediment texture. Macrozoobenthos that were successfully obtained consisted of 3 invertebrate classes namely bivalves (2 species), gastropods (7 species), and malacostraca (1 species). Physical and chemical parameters obtained were temperature 28o-30 oC, water pH 7.1-8.1, sediment pH 6, and DO 6.2-8.7 mg/l. The distribution of macrozoobenthos found in the study site is clustered, uniform and random with silt loam and sandy loam sediment textures. The highest abundance of 42.86 ind/m² was obtained at station 1. The five stations have moderate diversity value, high uniformity value, low dominance value in Pamarayan River. Keywords: habitat, macrozoobenthos, Kalimati Pamarayan, distribution.

Abstract

To alleviate the consequence of severe biodiversity threats, fifteen national priority lakes to be rehabilitated have been declared in Indonesia. Lake Sentarum National Park (LNSP), one of the lakes, is a distinctive floodplain lake that exhibits significant vegetation and flora diversity. One particular ecosystem type in the area is dwarf swamp forest vegetation, which displays enormous amounts of floral vegetation in that area. This study intends to uncover vegetation data in the dwarf swamp forest habitat, which currently has relatively limited data series about its diversities. The vegetation specimens were collected using a 50 x 50 m line transect. Fourteen species from ten families were collected from six observation stations. The most prevalent vegetation is C. cf. ensifolius, I. mentangis, and B. acutangula. The species diversity index (H') is 1.78 (low category), and the small lake area has a greater species variety than the river area in the LNSP area. Furthermore, we found that dwarf swamp forest vegetation is mainly used as food for Apis dorsata honey bees to produce forest honey. The findings of this study will be helpful as a fundamental reference for future monitoring, research, and conservation efforts in the park.

Abstract

Pesticides has been widely used in pest eradiction in agriculture sector. The types of pesticides are used to kill grass (herbicides), fungi and bacteria (fungicides), and insects (insecticides). In general, those pesticides are contain toxic compounds, such as dichlorodiphenyl trichlorethane (DDT), dieldrin, and polychlorobiphenyls (PCB) which are lipophilic, persistent, and difficult to degrade. In general, fresh waters such as rivers are more at risk of pollution due to pesticide residues that enter through runoff. The pesticides residues of the nearby rivers can easily affect the water quality, sediment as well as causing toxic effects on non-target organisms through the food chain. The method in this paper refers to several research results that have been carried out, by providing an overview of pesticide residue pollution in rivers. The results showed that pesticide residues mostly contaminated rivers in China, with DDT and hexachloro cyclohexane (HCH) being the most commonly found and studied species. Several rivers in China have concentrations of DDT and HCH beyond the highest concentration levels in both water, sediments and aquatic organisms. Keywords : Pesticide, Pollution, River
