Abstract

The high intensity of catching has an impact on decreasing stock, vulnerability, which has the potential affect to stock sustainability; such vulnerabilities include the baitfishs group in tuna fisheries. Vulnerability studies of baitfishs in Bitung, Wakatobi, Kendari and Larantuka in July 2013 were carried out to find out the pressure caused. The data collected is the parameter of productivity and perception of fish. The catches besides tuna are skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), Indian Scad (Decapterus russelli), little tuna (Euthynuss affinis), Squid (Loligo loligo.), Anchovies (Stelophorus commersonii) and Sardinella (Sardinella fimbriata). Based on MSC (Marine Steward Council) Vulnerability Criteria, vulnerability index in Bitung (skipjack = 85.6; scad = 98.9; little tuna = 96.2), Wakatobi (scad = 97.9; squid = 98.5) and Kendari (skipjack=  85.6; anchovies = 98.5) and Sardinella fimbriata is about 96 in Larantuka. The conclusion of this research are the baitfishes state as low vulnerability and low risk and potential for sustainability

Abstract

Kata kunci : Cyanobacteria, Nostoc, Protein, klorofil a

Abstract

Cantrang (danish seine) is the most fishing gear used by fisheries along the coast of north java waters. The Ministry of Marine and Fisheries Affair of fishing gears regulation number 02/MEN/2011, cantrang operation areas more than areas 2 or 3 miles. They are using various size and design construction in each location. This paper would be descripting the design and construction of cantrang and comparing with Indonesian Standard (SNI) 01-7236-2006. The comparative value of net wing from Tegal more long than total length of net, circumference of mouth net cantrang Rembang approximately 60,84 meters more large than total length. The panel of webbing cantrang from Tegal has appropriate standar. Fishing ground of cantrangs are spread in north java waters approximately 30 – 60 meters. The operation of cantrang is all of year every day, especially when the wind condition from the east to the west areas, and sometimes they are operation in coastal area. Considering of comparation data, design and construction of fishing gear as cantrang from Brondong and Rembang are not related with SNI 01-7236-2006.Keyword: cantrang, danish seine, design, construction, webbing

Abstract

The development of capture fisheries based on the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF) use to optimally the potential of capture fisheries. Fishing gears that use in Dumai City are gill net, push net, and drifting longline. The research was conducted to analyze the fishing gear that used by fishermen in Dumai City based on the CCRF document as a continuation in providing policies of fishing gear. The method of data collection is use a questionnaire and statistic of description is used to data analysis. The results showed the drawbacks of the use of gill nets that are found in the quality of fish caught tend to be slightly physically defective (part of the operculum), and can make the to other species die because the net traps and makes fish spun. Sondong can not be recommended as a good fishing gear based on the CCRF, because the mesh size used is small so the selectivity of sondong is low, and the technique of sondong operation can damage the habitat. Drifting longline is a fishing gear that is selective and environmentally friendly, although viewed from the types of fish that caught, longline has the potential to catch the fish that protected by law based on the main catch is stingrays. However, stingrays that caught by fishermen in dumai are not the fish that protected by law. The conclusion of the study is gill net and drifting longline are recommended fishing gear to fishermen in Dumai city, because it is appropriate with the provisions of the CCRF document

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is one of fish that is suitable to be cultivated in floating net cages or in controlled containers, since tilapia is the omnivorous and is easily adjust to the environment. An artificial feeding in an intensive farming is one of the important supporting factor to increase production. Natural feed available could not meet the needs of fish, therefore in order to promote growth, it must be fulfilled by the artificial feed that could qualify nutrition. The research aims to observing the dose addition of flour Kappaphycus alvarezii in commercial feed to enhance the growth and the survival of O. niloticus. The usability of the research is the costs efficiency of feed and provides information on aspects of tilapia fish farming. The result of the research shows that daily specific growth rate performs that control treatment (0.94±0.14%) gives the best growth response compared to the treatment of seaweed flour 20% (0.06±0.04%), then is followed by the treatment of seaweed flour 5% (0.52±0.17). Further research statistic peforms that the control is significantly different to the treatment of seaweed flour 20% (p<0.05). For the best feed convertion ratio is in control (0.31±0.02) and the lowest is in the treatment of seaweed flour 20% (0.45±0.03). Then the best survival is in control treatment (80.00±0.00%), followed by treatment of seaweed flour 5% (76.670±0.00%) and the lowest survival is in treatment of seaweed flour 20% (63.33±0.06%).
