Abstract

The arts, such as music, are one of the channels for the spread of Islam in the archipelago. In its development, human culture will continue to evolve, including music. From the time of Islamisation, through the colonial era to the modern era, religious music in Indonesia will undergo changes. This paper aims to explain the development of the genre and purpose of Islamic music in Indonesia. The research method used is the historical research method with its stages: 1) heuristics, research data sources are collected through literature studies; 2) source criticism, selecting the validity of research data sources; 3) interpretation with the cultural evolution theory approach; 4) historiography. The results showed that the development of classical Indonesian Islamic music was born according to the socio-cultural aspects of each region. In Java, Islamic music was born from the acculturation of Javanese culture and Islamic content. In Minangkabau, the Middle Eastern music culture (gambus & gamad) dominates instrumentally. However, the lyrical content remains on Islamic & Minangkabau themes. In later developments, Indonesian Islamic music began to be influenced by Western cultural genres and instruments. The changes are not only 'physical', but also in the purpose of contemporary Islamic music. Music that was once intended as a medium for da'wah and local Islamic cultural identity has slowly turned into 'market' oriented work or consumerism. Muslims who have become the majority have also had an influence in shifting music away from its original purpose of da'wah.

Abstract

Dulmuluk merupakan teater kesenian tradisional yang ada di Palembang, Sumatera Selatan. Dulmuluk sendiri mulai dikenal sejak awal abad ke 20 sampai dengan sekarang. Pementasan teater Dulmuluk berbeda dengan pementasan teater-teater lain yang berasal dari daerah Jawa dan lainnya karena Dulmuluk memiliki Bermas atau salam penghormatan yang berupa nyanyian disertai gerak tari yang tidak ada di teater manapun. penggunakan metode penelitian etnografi yang bersifat deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk memahami kembali Teater Dulmuluk ini dari sudut pandang penduduk asli dimana tujuannya untuk menemukan generalisasi dan membuat rekontruksi masa lampau dengan cara mengumpulkan, mengevaluasi, memverifikasi serta mensitesiskan bukti-bukti guna memperoleh hasil yang kuat, dengan menggunakan metode penelitian ini dapat diketahui dengan jelas pembagian pembahasan dalam penelitian ini dimana meliputi, sejarah, proses pertunjukkannya, perkembangannya serta eksistensinya dari teater ini serta fungsinya dalam masyarakat yang ternyata memiliki banyak fungsi berdasarkan tipe-tipe fungsinya.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Culture is a habit of a society that is continuous and carried out from generation to generation. As an archipelagic country, Indonesia has a rich culture that creates a multicultural society. This diversity is a highlight for researchers to examine the cultural sector in Indonesia. Thus were born various scientific works in the field of culture in Indonesia with different focuses. This study aims to determine the mapping of cultural research in Indonesia using VosViewer and the data taken is scientific papers from the journal Scopus. The results of this study show that the field of culture in Indonesia visualizes that there are two klasters that are interconnected with one another. With the many publications in 2020 and the topics that have the most scientific work on traditional topics.

Abstract

Ghatib Beghanyut merupakan tradisi keagamaan masyarakat Melayu Siak. Tradisi ini sudah berlangsung sejak zaman kesultanan Melayu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui proses pelaksanaan tradisi tersebut serta menganalisis keterkaitan ritual dengan nilai-nilai keagamaan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah kualitatif deskriptif. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yakni dengan melakukan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi serta kajian pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi tersebut bermula pada masa Sultan ke XII yakni Sultan Syarif Kasim II. Sejak awal tradisi tersebut mengikuti pedoman islam yakni dengan berlandaskan Al-quran. Seperti kata pepatah yakni Adat bersendikan Syara’, Syara’ bersendikan Kitabullah. Simpulan dalam penelitian ini ialah ghatib beghanyut atau yang biasa dikenal dengan tradisi tolak bala merupakan sebuah budaya yang diciptakaan oleh sekelompok masyarakat dengan tujuan memohon perlindungan pada Yang Maha Kuasa.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the history and some prominent Arab literary figures who adhere to the symbolism literary movement, along with examples of their works. This study is a qualitative descriptive research using a literature review technique. The findings of this research indicate that the literary movement of symbolism first emerged in France in 1884. This movement is rooted in the belief that objects and events in the real world have profound meanings that can be expressed through symbolic language. Symbolist poetry is renowned for its deliberate ambiguity, designed to be mysterious and challenging to comprehend. Several Arab literary figures, such as Dr. Basyar Faris, Ali Ahmad Sa'id, Badr Syakir Sayyab, and Iliya Abu Madhi, also adopted this movement, blending it with their cultural context. The research discusses the shift from other literary movements to symbolism and the contributions of Arab writers in using natural symbols and myths to convey messages about human emotions and conditions.

Abstract

The Tepung Tawar tradition is a tradition found in the series of wedding processions of the Malay community in Tanjung Balai City. This tradition is classified as a sacred tradition by the local community so it is still practiced today. This article aims to examine the process of implementing the Tepung Tawar tradition and analyze the forms of religious and cultural acculturation that exist in this tradition. This research is descriptive qualitative research and the data collection process was carried out by the author by means of observation, interviews and documentation as well as literature review. The results of this research show that initially this tradition was a ritual originating from Hindu beliefs which then experienced acculturation with Malay culture. This statement is strengthened by the similarities between the Tepung Tawar tradition and traditional Indian (Hindu) wedding rituals. Apart from that, historical facts reveal that the arrival of foreign nations, one of which was Indians (Hindus) to Malay land in the 7th or 8th century AD was the forerunner to the development of Hindu culture in Malay land, especially Tanjung Balai City, so that it was very dominant for affect the welfare of local communities. However, after Islam was introduced, Tepung Tawar became a tradition of the Malay community in which Islamic religious teachings were inserted. So this research can be concluded that Tepung Tawar is a form of religious and cultural acculturation that occurs in the Malay community in Tanjung Balai City, as well as a means of requesting blessings and peace to Allah SWT for people in Tepung Tawari.

Abstract

Language skills are one of the keys to success in the process of learning foreign languages, to see success in one language skill certainly requires evaluation. This study uses Benjamin S Bloom's theory which can be used to see the level of cognitive ability and the suitability of the evaluation process to the learning outcomes that have been conceptualized by lecturers in the semester learning plan. The purpose of this research is to analyze the quality of the Arabic language skills test questions, analyze the suitability of the Arabic language skills test questions to Bloom's taxonomic concepts, and analyze the suitability of the test questions to learning outcomes. By using purposive sampling techniques, this research includes quantitative research that departs from theory to the field to be tested for correctness. This research proves that the quality of Arabic exam questions in five expertise courses in the Arabic Language and Literature study program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities is still in a low stage. This can be seen from the taxonomic level that the concept of making questions by lecturers is still in the realm of C1 to C3 only, meaning that the evaluation process by lecturers has not reached the highest level.Then the Arabic exam question items have not fully followed the concept of Bloom's taxonomy, this can be proven on the question sheets given by lecturers on average on one exam question sheet only tests at the C1 level for example defining. The achievement of learning from three aspects, namely knowledge, attitudes and skills is also not fully visible in the problem, this indicates that learning evaluation tends to look at cognitive abilities only.

Abstract

The development of an increasingly advanced era in this digital era has given a lot of color to culture in Indonesia, especially in Lubuklinggau City. The purpose of this research is to determine the preservation of Batu Urip cultural village as a local culture in Lubuklinggau City. The research method used is historical research method using historical method. In this research, researchers use descriptive qualitative research studies to analyze the data that has been obtained. Data sources were obtained through field observations developed with book and journal sources as reference materials. The results of this study, namely: The preservation of Batu Urip Cultural Village as a local Cultural Heritage of Lubuklinggau City History is Batu Urip Village is a village in Lubuklinggau City that is still terawatt in developing the culture of its people The study of cultural history in Batu Urip Village continues to grow rapidly. This is because in Batu Urip Village there are historical sites and preservation of local culture such as Mandi Kasai which is still well preserved. Studies related to the history of this local culture can develop with the enthusiasm of the people who still maintain pure customs. In addition, the preservation of history and culture in Batu Urip has also been developed by students, researchers and the SARISEJAYA Community as a history and arts community in Lubuklinggau City. All of them strive to support Batu Urip as a cultural heritage village that has historical, artistic and cultural values. The conclusion is that the preservation of Batu Urip's local cultural history should always be vigorously supported. Cooperation with the community and history students will have a positive impact on the development of local cultural heritage in Batu Urip, Lubuklinggau City.

Abstract

This article aims to compare the Anti-Communist Front (FAK) and the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) in a historical perspective. This research uses a historical method through four stages, namely collecting data or sources (heuristics), source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. In its analysis, this research uses a socio-political approach, so that this research is not only narrative-descriptive, but more analytical-descriptive. The results of this research show that FAK and FPI are two movements that use Islamic ideology as the basic guideline for their movement. FAK and FPI used Islamic ideology as the basis for their struggle due to the influence of Isa Anshary and Rizieq Shihab who belonged to Islamic fundamentalism and made da'wah the key to the start of their movement. Furthermore, FAK and FPI also aim to provide resistance to the PKI and the ideology of communism, and thoughts of liberalism, secularism, and actions that are far from Islamic religious judgments. The conclusion in the article is that the implementation of the FAK and FPI movements can influence socio-political aspects in Indonesia due to the stimulus of Islamic preaching that has been instilled in all FAK and FPI cadres.

Abstract

Bai'at Gadang is a tradition in the sharia congregation that involves spiritual initiation and commitment of its participants to follow the teachings of the congregation. This study aims to explore more broadly the tradition of the Bai'at Gadang Tarekat Syariah and see the transformation that occurred in the implementation procedures, meaning and participants in the event held at the Nurul Yaqin Light-ringan Islamic Boarding School. Through a qualitative approach and data collection through interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, this research reveals important aspects of the Bai'at Gadang tradition. The findings of this study also reveal that bai'at gadang is a derivative practice of bai'at which is usually carried out among followers of the sharia tarekat. In its development, the practice of bai'at gadang underwent transformation in three forms: first, changes in implementation procedures such as time, place and management. Second, changes in the number of participants. Third,change in form of meaning. This study provides in-depth insight into religious practices and spirituality in the context of Islamic boarding schools in Padang Pariaman Regency. This research can also be used as a basis for developing further understanding of the sharia congregation and the Bai'at Gadang tradition among academics, religious observers and religious practitioners.
