Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a development plan for sharia-based MSMEs in Tebing Tinggi City to encourage more equitable and inclusive regional economic development. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. Five MSMEs that have implemented sharia principles in their operations were observed and interviewed to collect data. The collected data were then analyzed thematically to identify trends, obstacles, and development tactics. The study findings demonstrate that sharia-based MSMEs in Tebing Tinggi City have adopted Islamic values such as being free from usury, using halal materials, and contributing to social welfare. However, they still face significant challenges such as limited access to sharia financing, a lack of Islamic economic literacy, and suboptimal utilization of digitalization. Recommended development strategies include improving sharia literacy, partnerships with Islamic financial institutions, training in digitalization and halal marketing, and facilitating halal certification. An integrative approach based on spiritual values, technology, and institutionalization is needed to strengthen the competitiveness of sharia-based MSMEs sustainably. This study contributes to the strategic framework for sharia-based MSME development at the regional level, integrated with Islamic economic principles and local challenges. The uniqueness of this study lies in the focus on the local context of Tebing Tinggi City and the direct interview approach to formulate sustainable strategies. Keywords: Sharia-compliant MSMEs, development strategy, finance, local economy, Tebing Tinggi City

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of digital Islamic financial literacy, risk perception, and religiosity on investment interest in Islamic mutual funds among FEBI UIN Sumatera Utara students. The digital era has transformed the landscape of the Islamic financial industry, but the low level of Islamic financial literacy (9.1%) poses a challenge in the development of Islamic investment. This study uses a quantitative explanatory approach with the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique based on Partial Least Square (PLS) through the SmartPLS 4 application. The research sample consisted of 98 FEBI UIN Sumatera Utara students selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through an online questionnaire with a Likert scale of 1-5. The results showed that digital Islamic financial literacy had a positive and significant effect on investment interest in Islamic mutual funds with a parameter coefficient of 0.552 and an effect size (f²) of 0.483 (a large effect). Religiosity also had a positive and significant effect, with a parameter coefficient of 0.280 and an effect size (f²) of 0.128 (moderate effect). Conversely, risk perception did not significantly influence investment interest in Islamic mutual funds, with a P-value of 0.267 and an effect size (f²) of 0.006 (very small effect). The research model was able to explain 59.8% of the variation in investment interest in Islamic mutual funds (R² = 0.598). These findings indicate that increasing digital Islamic financial literacy and strengthening religious values are more effective in encouraging investment interest in Islamic mutual funds than focusing on investment risk aspects. Keywords: Digital Islamic Financial Literacy, Risk Perception, Religiosity, Investment Interest, Islamic Mutual Funds

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development strategy of the palm sugar home industry owned by Mrs. Atik in Bandar Lama Village, Kualuh Selatan Subdistrict, Labuhanbatu Utara Regency, using the SWOT approach and the Islamic economic concept of maslahah. The business has been passed down through generations and serves as the family's primary source of income. The research employed interview methods with the business owner and field observations as data collection techniques. SWOT analysis indicates strengths in product quality, producer experience, and low production costs, while weaknesses include limited technology, resources, and lack of brand identity. External opportunities such as rising demand and palm sugar prices offer significant potential, but are challenged by competition, government regulations, and weather dependency. The proposed strategy focuses on leveraging strengths to capture opportunities and addressing internal weaknesses. From the maslahah perspective, development efforts cover the preservation of life, wealth, and lineage (dharuriyah), economic ease (hajiyah), and improvement of quality, morality, and social aspects (tahsiniyah). This research recommends technological upgrades, brand development, human resource training, and the integration of Islamic values to achieve holistic societal benefits. Keywords : Development Strategy, Home Industry, Palm Sugar, SWOT Analysis, Maslahah

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a development strategy for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) based on the Pentahelix approach to reduce unemployment in Tebing Tinggi City. The Pentahelix approach involves five main elements: academics, businesses, communities, government, and mentors, who collaborate in the local economic development process. The methodology is a qualitative one, including statistical data, questionnaires, in-depth interviews, document analysis, and observation as data collecting methods. The strategy is analyzed using the SOAR (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, Results) framework and the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) principle, which includes social (people), environmental (planet), and economic (profit) aspects. The analysis results show that the combination strategy of Opportunities + Aspirations (OA) is the most optimal approach, with the highest score in the IFAS and EFAS analyses. The OA strategy is considered capable of utilizing external opportunities such as technological innovation, strategic partnerships, community collaboration, and policy support, to realize the aspirations of sustainable community economic empowerment. These findings demonstrate the importance of cross-sector collaboration in encouraging MSME growth as a strategic solution to reduce unemployment in the region. Keywords: MSMEs, Pentahelix, Unemployment, SOAR

Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of the Assessment Center and analyze the influence of Transformational Leadership on the career development of personnel in the DIY Police. In addition, this study also aims to analyze the role of Social Support, both as a factor influencing career development and as a moderator in the relationship between the Assessment Center and Transformational Leadership and the career development of personnel in the DIY Police. Methods: The population in this study amounted to 10,365 personnel in the Yogyakarta Police, with a sample of 151 respondents selected using the Proportional Stratified Random Sampling method  so that each strata in the population was proportionally represented. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire designed on a Likert scale of 1 to 5, where a score of 1 indicated "strongly disagree" and a score of 5 indicated "strongly agreed". This instrument is used to measure the variables of Assessment Center, Transformational Leadership, Social Support, and Career Development. The data obtained were then analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with the help of AMOS software to test the direct and indirect influence of independent variables on career development, as well as the role of social support moderation in these relationships. Results: Research shows that only Assessment Centers have a significant effect on career development, while transformational leadership and social support have no significant influence. These findings confirm that competency-based evaluations play more role in career advancement than leadership or social support factors. In addition, social support as moderation does not strengthen the relationship of other variables with career development, so career development strategies should focus more on structured assessment and training systems.Implications: this study shows that organizations need to strengthen the Assessment Center system as a key tool in career development, by ensuring competency-based evaluations are conducted objectively and sustainably. In addition, since transformational leadership and social support have no significant effect, career development policies should be more focused on performance-based training and promotion systems rather than relying solely on leadership or the social environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through e-commerce in the context of maqasid syariah, with a case study in the city of Medan. The study employs a qualitative method, with the research location in the city of Medan. The findings indicate that e-commerce significantly contributes to the development of MSMEs, particularly in developing MSMEs on e-commerce platforms that align with the principles of maqasid syariah. Some challenges faced by MSMEs in adopting e-commerce include limited digital literacy, inadequate technological infrastructure, insufficient capital, and intense competition in the online market. Therefore, future research could address these limitations by expanding the sample size and research area, as well as conducting a more in-depth examination of effective e-commerce strategies and business models for MSMEs.Keywords: MSMEs, E-Commerce, Business Development, Maqasid Syariah, Medan

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of earnings management on earning response among property and real estate sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period of 2019-2023. Earnings management is measured using two approaches, namely income smoothing and earnings quality, while earning response is measured using the stock return indicator. This research uses a quantitative approach with secondary data obtained from the company's financial statements. The sample is determined using the purposive sampling method which allows for the identification of a number of companies that meet the research criteria. The results indicate that income smoothing has a significant positive impact on earning response, suggesting that the market responds positively to the income smoothing practices carried out by companies. On the other hand, the quality of profits shows a negative impact on earning response, indicating that the lower the quality of profits generated, the more negative the earning response to the company's financial information. These findings imply that investors need to be more diligent in evaluating the profit management practices and quality of accounting information provided by the company before making investment decisions.

Abstract

Research Aims: This study aims to analyze the relationship between work motivation, specialist development, knowledge sharing, and career development in an organizational context.Design/Methodology/Approach: This research employs a quantitative method with a survey approach to collect data from selected respondents. The primary instrument is a questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale, enabling respondents to express their level of agreement with statements related to the studied variables. Data analysis utilizes Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS software, chosen for its ability to analyze complex causal relationships and test conceptual models based on underlying theories. The sample was selected using a Stratified Random Sampling technique from a population of 10,977 police personnel at Polda DIY, with a final sample of 151 respondents.Research Findings: The results indicate that work motivation significantly influences knowledge sharing, which in turn contributes to career development. High work motivation encourages active engagement in information exchange and experience-sharing, fostering an environment that supports innovation and competency enhancement. In contrast, specialist development has a more limited impact on knowledge sharing and career development, particularly when acquired skills are overly specific and less flexible for various job roles. Moreover, knowledge sharing mediates the relationship between work motivation and career development, highlighting its crucial role in strengthening career growth.Theoretical Contribution/Originality: These findings suggest that organizations should foster a knowledge-sharing culture and balance specialist development with collaborative skills, ensuring workforce competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic work environment
