Abstract

This study aim is to analyze the effects of the shocks of the macroeconomic variable on the capital market integration in ASEAN 5 represented by stock price indexes. The stock price indexes used included Indonesia (IHSG), Malaysia (KLCI), Singapore (STI), Thailand (SETI) and Philippines (PSEI), and the macroeconomic variables used in Indonesia included the industrial production (IPI), inflation (INFI), interest rate (SBI) and exchange rate (KURSI). The method used was the analysis of VAR/VECM using impulse response function (IRF), forecast error Variance decomposition (FEVD) and granger causality of the study period of 2001-2016. The results showed that IHSG and STI had a two-way causality and had a unidirectional causal relationship to PSEI, KLSE and SET. Shocks of inflation, interest rates and exchange rates had a negative correlation with the Index of the ASEAN 5, while industrial production shocks had a positive relationship. IHSG and KLSE were more influenced by the inflation rate in Indonesia while PSEI, STI and SET were more affected by interest rates in Indonesia.Keywords: composite index, ASEAN 5, macroeconomic variables, VAR /VECM, granger causality

Abstract

Upstream oil and gas sector has the characteristics of high-cost, high-tech and high-risk, and safety of operations. PT XYZ is a national company operating in the upstream oil and gas sector with operations spreading across Indonesia. This study aimed to evaluate the achievement of the current safety culture of the company, to analyze the behavioral factors that influenced safety culture and to redefine the strategy to improve the safety culture to minimize the occurrence of accidents. The research method used in the study included validity test and Reliability test, descriptive analysis, gap analysis and SEM analysis (Structural Equation Modelling). The results of the gap analysis show that safety culture in PT XYZ has not met the expectations. The results of the SEM analysis showed behavioral factors significantly influenced the safety culture. The combination between gap analysis and SEM Analysis showed that the strategies that should be carried out by PT XYZ in improving safety culture include strengthening the management commitment for safety, ensuring the process of investigation conducted objectively, maintaining the program rewards and consequences, writing safety aspects in the job description and job responsibilities and individual performance criteria, strengthening employee competence in occupational safety, intensifying communication of occupational safety aspects, analyzing workload and ensuring adequacy of the personnel number and application of SWA (stop work authority).Keywords: oil and gas, safety culture, SEM

Abstract

In 2015, the sales of PT Pesona Daun Mas Asri (PDMA) declined and presumably it was due to the competition in floriculture business. Value Chain Analysis can be used as an approach to assemble strategies and to understand the factors which affect the competitive advantages. This journal aims to map the market power of PT PDMA by analyzing the value chain of its product. The results show that the sales of floriculture in PT PDMA are affected by its five main products including Phillodendrom Marble, Phillodendrom Selloum, Asparagus Myriocladus, Gerbera and Celosia. The declines in the sales of PT PDMA are due to the external and internal factors. Abstract

The purpose of research is to analyze the formation of the target market customer segmentation based on job characteristics, income, education, age, region of origin, and patterns of credit card merchant. The data were analyzed using two data mining techniques of clustering with K-Means and Association Rule Mining (ARM) and supported by Apriori and Random Sampling technique with the Slovin formula and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The clustering tests in 10 replications on the sampling of 350 clients supported by PCA produced the three best clusters that had the silhouette value close to 1 i.e. 0.39 to 0.40. Meanwhile, the ARM Testing with Apriori using a minimum support of 1% and a minimum confidence of 40% produced two patterns of credit card merchant transactions. In the first pattern, when the Hotel merchant type (hhl) was transacted, the Restaurant merchant type (RRT) was also transacted, and in the second pattern, if the Service Station merchant type (RSS) was transacted, the Restaurant merchant type (RRT) was also transacted. The three clusters and two types of merchant patterns obtained can generate inputs for the company to identify its potential customers based on the characteristics of the target customers by connecting them to the merchant type pattern frequently used.Keywords: credit card, data mining, clustering, ARM, data stream

Abstract

The research aimed at calculating the Operational Value at Risk (OpVar) in estimating the probability of the frequency of losses at Sharia Bank of XYZ, analyzing and assessing the event types of operational risks which have a great contribution in the operational losses of the bank, and determining the efficiency levels of the operational value at risk of capital charges of the bank. Measurement of operational risk in this study was conducted using the Loss Distribution Approach (LDA) Aggregated Model, as one of the Advanced Measurement Approach (AMA) models, which theoretically produces more efficient capital charges. The results showed that the contribution of the biggest losses came from the events of business disruption and system failure, execution, delivery & process management and internal fraud. Abstract

Capital market could provide better financing for companies and offer prospective investment for public. However, capital market has not fully absorbed the potential economics in Indonesia. The efficiency of Securities Company (brokers) in Indonesia should be optimized by the regulator to be able to compete with that from other countries. This paper measured the efficiency level of brokers and their effect on business competitiveness by using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach and the regression model. The results found that the efficiency of brokers was relatively low i.e. approximately 0,22. The vast number of brokers with limited capital caused this low efficiency. Brokers with larger-scale companies have a higher efficiency than the smaller ones. The joint venture brokers are relatively efficient, for they usually have large capital. The minimum requirement of Net Adjusted Working Capital (NAWC) is insufficient to strengthen the competitiveness of brokers, and it should be increased from Rp25 billion to Rp100 billion. The increase in this capital is expected to encourage brokers to become more competitive in ASEAN market.Keywords: Competitiveness, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), efficiency, Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), securities companyAbstrak: Pasar modal belum sepenuhnya optimal memanfaatkan potensi ekonomi Indonesia. Perbankan masih menjadi sumber utama penggerak ekonomi padahal pasar modal menyediakan pilihan yang lebih baik dalam memenuhi kebutuhan pembiayaan perusahaan maupun intsrumen investasi bagi masyarakat. Rendahnya efisiensi Anggota Bursa (AB) dalam menjalankan bisnis transaksi efek perlu diperhatikan regulator agar pasar modal Indonesia mampu bersaing dengan negara lain. Penelitian ini melihat tingkat efisiensi AB dan pengaruhnya terhadap daya saing bisnis transaksi efek melalui Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) dan model regresi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis diperoleh bahwa efisiensi AB masih rendah sekitar 0,22. Banyaknya AB bermodal terbatas menyebabkan rendahnya efisiensi ini. AB dengan skala perusahaan lebih besar memiliki efisiensi lebih tinggi dibandingkan AB yang skalanya kecil. AB joint venture tentu relatif efisien karena biasanya memiliki modal yang besar. Persyaratan minimum Modal Kerja Bersih Disesuaikan (MKBD) dinilai belum cukup memperkuat daya saing AB dan sebaiknya ditingkatkan dari Rp25 miliar menjadi Rp100 miliar sesuai hasil estimasi dengan model regresi. Abstract

The high levels of motivation, compensation, organizational culture, and competence of educational personnel greatly affect their performance. As the motivation, compensation, organizational culture and competence of the educational personnel of Faculty of Animal Science Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in achieving the performance has still not been optimal, this research aimed to analyze the factors affecting the performance of the educational personnel in the Faculty of Animal Science Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), both directly and indirectly i.e. to analyze the effect of compensation on motivation, to analyze the effect of compensation on organizational culture, in which motivation serves as intervening variable, to analyze the effect of compensation on competence, in which organizational culture serves as the intervening variable, and to analyze the effect of motivation on competence. The variables include motivation, compensation, organizational culture, and competence of the academic personnel. The data collection technique was conducted by doing interviews and distributing questionnaires using the Likert scale. The reliability on the data obtained, descriptive analysis and Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis were utilized. Based on the research results, it is revealed that the compensation variable has a significant effect on the motivation, while the compensation has no significant effects on the organizational culture in which the motivation serves as intervening variable. Thus, compensation has no significant effects on the competence in which the organizational culture serves as intervening variable, and motivation also has no significant effect on the competence.Keywords: motivation, compensation, organization culture and competence, PLSAbstrak: Tinggi rendahnya motivasi, kompensasi, budaya organisasi dan kompetensi tenaga kependidikan sangat memengaruhi kinerja. Penelitian dilakukan karena motivasi, kompensasi, budaya organisasi serta kompetensi tenaga kependidikan Fakultas peternakan Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) dalam pencapaian kinerja masih belum optimal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi kinerja tenaga kependidikan di Fakultas Peternakan IPB baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung, yaitu menganalisis pengaruh kompensasi terhadap motivasi, menganalisis pengaruh kompensasi terhadap budaya organisasi, dimana motivasi sebagai peubah intervening, menganalisis pengaruh kompensasi terhadap kompetensi dimana budaya organisasi sebagai peubah intervening, menganalisi pengaruh motivasi terhadap kompetensi. Peubahnya adalah motivasi, kompensasi, budaya organisasi dan kompetensi Tendik. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah dengan interview serta kuesioner menggunakan skala Likert. Peneliti menggunakan reabilitas terhadap data yang diperoleh dan selanjutnya menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan analisis Struktural Equation Model (SEM). Dari hasil penelitian diketahui peubah kompensasi berpengaruh nyata terhadap motivasi, kompensasi terhadap budaya organisasi dimana motivasi sebagai intervening tidak berpengaruh nyata, kompensasi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap kompetensi dimana budaya ornagisasi sebagai intervening dan motivasi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap kompetensi. Abstract

This research aimed to improve better understanding on consumer behavior of TV Home Shopping (THS) by identifying the behavior of consumers watching THS, analyzing the effect of THS on consumer interest in purchasing THS products on consumer groups who have needs and who do not, and giving recommendation on THS program development to increase sales. In this research, the data were taken in the form of surveys through direct interviews using questionnaire as the instrument tool. The research data were processed by PLS smart software. The results showed that the respondents’ profiles as THS product buyers were dominated by women (63%), adults (30-39 years old, 51%), high education background (S1, 50%), full-time workers (56%), and middle to upper class communities (42%). There were three major THS channels chosen by the respondents i.e. OShop (47%), Lejel Home Shopping (37%), and MNC Shop (15%). The results of this research identified the primary reasons of purchasing products in THS i.e. product prices, appealing gifts, unique products, trending products, time saving, high quality products, needs for the products, lower prices, convenience by staying at home, and shopping for pleasure /gifts.Keywords: commercial, TV Home Shopping, AIDAAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang perilaku konsumen TV Home Shopping (THS) dengan mengidentifikasi perilaku masyarakat dalam menonton THS, menganalisis pengaruh THS terhadap minat konsumen dalam membeli produk THS pada kelompok konsumen yang butuh dan belum butuh, dan memberikan rekomendasi pengembangan program THS untuk meningkatkan penjualan. Pada penelitian ini, data diperoleh dengan metode survei melalui wawancara langsung dengan menggunakan bantuan instrumen kuesioner. Data penelitian diolah dengan bantuan software smart PLS. Hasil olah data memperlihatkan profil responden pembeli produk THS dalam penelitian ini sebagian besar adalah wanita (63%) berusia dewasa (30–39 thn, 51%), memiliki pendidikan cukup tinggi (S1, 50%), bekerja full time (56%) dan berkelas menengah atas (42%). Tiga channel THS pilihan utama responden adalah OShop (47%), Lejel Home Shopping (37%), dan MNC Shop (15%). Hasil penelitian tentang prioritas alasan membeli produk berturut-turut adalah harga produk, hadiah yang menarik, produk unik, produk sedang trend, hemat waktu, produk berkualitas, produk dibutuhkan, harga lebih murah, tidak perlu ketoko, beli untuk kesenangan/hadiah.Kata kunci: Iklan, TV Home Shopping, AIDA

Abstract

Indonesia has the highest growth of motor vehicle industry in Southeast Asia. The shifting of central car production has started since 2012 with the initial launch of low cost green car (LCGC). This development was followed by the growth of automotive component industry to support it. To compete in business coverage with high attractiveness industry, strategies and highly capable human resources are required by the company. This research utilized resource-based view in examining the connection between Porter’s competitiveness strategy and company’s human resource and its performance. This research classified human resource configuration into product-based and process-based, and the companies were categorized into strategic groups. Thus, this research examined the different performances between strategic groups. The relationship between human resource configuration and strategies was analyzed to reveal the differences of human resource and its competence in one strategic group and to examine its connection to the company’s performance. The primary finding in this research was the significant differences of performances among strategic groups in which companies in the same group have a distinctive human resource configuration.Keywords: competitiveness strategy, base resource, performance, competitive advantageAbstrak: Indonesia mempunyai pertumbuhan industri kendaraan bermotor tertingi di Asia Teggara. Pergeseran pusat produksi mobil sudah dimulai sejak tahun 2012 dengan diluncurkannya low cost green car (LCGC). Perkembangan ini diikuti oleh tumbuhnya industri komponen otomotif sebagai pendukungnya. Untuk dapat bersaing dalam lingkungan bisnis dengan industry actractiveness yang masih tinggi diperlukan strategi dan capability sumber daya yang unggul bagi perusahaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan resources base view dalam menganalisis keterkaitan antara strategi bersaing Porter, sumber aya perusahaan dan kinerja. Dalam penelitian ini penulis membagi konfigurasi sumber daya menjadi product based dan processs based. Lalu perusahaan-perusahaan ini dikelompokkan dalam grup strategi dan mengukur perbedaan kinerja antara grup strategi. Hubungan antara konfigurasi sumberdaya dan strategi dianalisis untuk mengetahui perbedaan sumber daya dan distinctive competence dalam satu grup strategi dan menganalisis keterkaitannya dengan kinerja perusahaan.Temuan utama dalam penelitian ini adalah bahwa terdapat perbedaan kinerja yang signifikan diantara grup strategi, perusahaan-perusahan dalam satu grup strategi memiliki perbedaan konfigurasi sumber daya.Kata kunci: strategi bersaing, resources base, kinerja, competitive advantage

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the technical efficiency of XYZ Bank Cash Office in DKI Jakarta. Factors affecting the efficiency level of cash office were also identified i.e. the building rental cost, work force cost, other operational costs, competence of cash office chief, and location of cash office. The performance efficiency was analyzed by Two Stage DEA Analysis using Variable Return to Scale (VRS) with an output maximization approach. Multiple regression technique using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) was utilized to determine the factors affecting the cash office efficiency level in 2015. The results of efficiency analysis showed that the average efficiency score of XYZ Bank cash office in DKI Jakarta in the period of 2013-2015 was relatively inefficient. The regression analysis identified that significant factors statistically affected the efficiency score of cash office in 2015 were the building rental and work force costs. Meanwhile, the other operational costs had no effects on the efficiency level. Dummy variables of cash office chief competence and cash office location affected the efficiency level of BTN bank cash office in DKI Jakarta at a significant rate of (α) 10%. The technical efficiency of XYZ bank cash office in DKI Jakarta was still relatively low, yet it showed an increase in the period of 2013-2015. Cash Offices in different locations have different scores on efficiency level. The selection of qualified and competent human resources in their field and the right selection of cash office location will affect the success of community funding which later affects the office efficiency level.Keywords: OLS, cash office, production approach, two-stage DEAAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis efisiensi teknis dari Kantor Kas milik Bank XYZ di wilayah DKI Jakarta. Selanjutnya mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi tingkat efisiensi dari kantor kas yaitu biaya sewa gedung, biaya tenaga kerja, biaya operasional lainnya, kompetensi kepala kantor kas dan lokasi kantor kas. Analisis kinerja efisiensi dilakukan dengan Analisa Two Stage DEA menggunakan Variable Return to Scale (VRS) dengan pendekatan maksimisasi output. Teknik regresi berganda menggunakan Ordinary Least Square (OLS) digunakan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi tingkat efisiensi kantor kas pada 2015. Hasil analisa efisiensi memperlihatkan bahwa rata-rata skor efisiensi kantor kas bank XYZ di wilayah DKI Jakarta pada tahun 2013–2015 secara relatif masih belum efisien. Analisis regresi menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang signifikan secara statistik memengaruhi skor efisiensi kantor kas pada tahun 2015, yaitu biaya sewa gedung dan biaya tenaga kerja. Sementara itu, biaya operasional lainnya tidak memengaruhi tingkat efisiensi. Variabel dummy kompetensi kepala kantor kas dan lokasi kantor kas memengaruhi tingkat efisiensi kantor kas bank btn di wilayah DKI Jakarta pada tingkat signifikansi (α) 10%. Efisiensi teknis kantor kas bank XYZ di DKI Jakarta relatif masih rendah namun menunjukkan peningkatan selama tahun 2013–2015. Kantor Kas pada lokasi yang berbeda memiliki rata-rata tingkat efisiensi yang berbeda-beda pula. Pemilihan SDM yang berkualitas dan kompeten dibidangnya dan pemilihan lokasi kantor kas yang tepat akan memengaruhi keberhasilan penghimpunan dana masyarakat sehingga dapat memengaruhi tingkat efisiensi kantornya.Kata kunci: OLS, kantor kas, pendekatan produksi, two stage DEA
