Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of meaningful work interventions in the form of training and coaching can improve room attendant’s performance (housekeeping department) at Bumi Surabaya City Resort. The research was conducted by the action research method with three stages namely Pre ODI (Diagnosis), ODI (Design and Implementation), and Post ODI (Expected Outcome). ODI itself stands for Organization Development Intervention, which means a structured program designed to solve problems, thereby enabling organizations to achieve goals. Based on Pre ODI results, room attendants have low performance because room attendants do not yet understand the purpose and meaning of their work. Therefore at the ODI stage, researchers provide meaningful work interventions with tools in the form of training and coaching to improve employee performance. To see an improvement in employee performance, the Post ODI researchers conducted a different test (Paired Sample T-Test) before and after the intervention. The results showed that meaningful work training and coaching intervention were able to increase employee performance scores from 3,03 (Pre ODI) to 3,43 (Post ODI). Thus, the research hypothesis can be accepted that there are differences in the average employee performance scores before and after the intervention. Keywords: coaching, employee performance, meaningful work, organization development intervention, training

Through the swot analysis method it was found that PPLI was in quadrant 1, which means that PPLI has great strength and support from external side to succeed in medical waste management service business, which means PPLI facilities and services are complete so that mean PPLI can be the one company for Total Hazardous Waste Management in Indonesia. To achieve the objective, for two months (December 2019 through January 2020), this study applied the method of survey involving 309 respondents from various industrial sectors and position levels in organizations. The statistical technique used in this study was the contingency table analysis. The main findings of this study are (1) RM implementation can improve the economic competitiveness of the RM implementing organizations as well as their personnel, (2) the quality of RM human resource development positively effects the quality of RM implementation, and (3) RM competence certification improves the quality of RM trainings and in turn boosts the quality of RM human resource development. Abstract

Top management is important to maintain aspects of work-life balance, especially for managers with high responsibilities and work intensity. If this does not get attention, it will result in increased work stress, disharmony in family relationships, decreased work focus and increased work accidents. This study aims to examine job satisfaction and organizational commitment to mediate the relationship between worklife balance and intention to resign. To get primary data, an online survey was conducted on managers at ten private Islamic banks in West Java. The survey results found 223 respondents, with a response rate of 32 per cent. The results of quantitative calculations using SPSS show that work-life satisfaction is negatively correlated with the managers’ intention to quit. The results of the mediation analysis show that work satisfaction and organizational commitment become partial mediators in the relationship between work-life balance and intention to resign. This study also discusses the implications of managers of private Islamic banks in West Java. The findings in this study are useful for understanding the implementation of work-life balance and its relationship to the intention of resigning managers. Keywords: Work-life balance; intention to quit, sharia bank managers, work satisfaction, organizational commitment

Abstract

Competition is an important aspect in an industry that may affect business continuity. The practice of a market structure concentrated on five major banks caused differences in efficiency and can ultimately influence competition between banks. This study aims to analyze the structure of competition and the level of technical efficiency in the banking industry during 2014-2018 period. 79banks were grouped into business group according to the core capital and were analyzed based on the groups. This study used non-structural Panzar Rosse method to analyze the competition structure. Afterwards, non parametric DEA (data envelopment analysis) method was used to determine the level of efficiency. The results showed that the banking industry in Indonesia generally operates under monopolistic competition. In addition, based on efficiency performance, bank BUKU 4 has the highest performance. This is because large of banks can produce larger economies of scale. Keywords: market structure, banking, panzar rosse model, efficiency, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of callings meaning of work on environmental mastery (one of the dimensions of psychological well-being) mediated by organizational engagement on the case of women workers in the garment industry at the Nusantara Industrial Bonded Zone (KBN). There were 111 participants, woman workers with a minimum of one year lenght of service. Data was collected through the environmental mastery adaptation scale instrument from Ryff (1989) (RPWBS) to measure Environmental Mastery, Amy Wrzesniewski's (1997) Work-Life Questionnaire and the scale of Organization Engagement from Saks (2006). Hypotheses are tested by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), analyzed by Lisrel 8.7 software. The results showed that the model was declared fit, Organization engagement became the "full mediator" relationship between Callings (meaning of work) and Environmental Mastery (psychological well-being) wuth Chi-square 20.81; df = 24; p.value = 0.65003; RMSEA = 0,000. The managerial implication of this finding is that as long as the garment industry still relies on the role of women workers, management needs to improve a safe and comfortable work environment, and place leaders or supervisors who better understand and respect woman workers in their role in supporting organizational performance. Keywords: callings-meaning of work, organization engagement, environmental mastery indonesian, woman worker, garment industry

Abstract

Determining the priority of activities is often seen by the number of people involved in these activities. This occurs because a strategic map has not been prepared based on the priority to perform these activities. The research aims to measure performance and determine priorities from the four perspectives of the Balance Scorecard using the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process approach. This research took a case study from a newspaper company in Solo. The company's strategic goals were formulated through the Balanced Scorecard including learning and growth, customers, internal business processes and finance perspectives. The weighting of each perspective applied the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process to obtain perspective priority which can be used as a consideration for the company. The results of this research show that the customer perspective has the highest weight value compared to the other three perspectives, namely 0.611; while the learning and growth perspective has the second highest weight value, which is equal to 0.221. The internal business perspective has a weight value of 0.100, while the financial perspective has the lowest weight value of 0.069. These results show that the customer perspective is a top priority that must be prioritized by the company in designing a strategy map to achieve the company goals. Companies need to design customer-oriented strategies by understanding customer behavior patterns in the future. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the financial performance of XYZ’s hotels by using hotel operators. XYZ’s hotels for the last nine years have been managed by AHH to increase the productivity of hotel performance. Historical financial performance show that the three XYZ hotels did not achieve the target over the last five years. Meanwhile, until August 2019 XYZ’s hotels showed a decrease in income above 5% and net profit after tax above 40%. To analyze hotel financial performance used financial ratios, company value added (EVA), and dividend payout ratio. Next to analyze the differences in the financial performance of XYZ hotels between before and after managed by hotel operators used the t-independent test method. The results of the analysis of financial performance show that MHH and SPH had good hotel financial performance during the study period, while BIH showed a declined trend in financial performance with negative EVA. The results of the t-independent test research showed that AHH as a hotel operator failed to improve the hotel's financial performance and did not provide added value to the three hotels owned by XYZ.
