Abstract

This paper intends to show that the Pancasila (five principles of state) and the Pillarsof Islam (the five religious value system) has synergy to build Indonesia's nationaleducation values system. To explore the relation between religion and politics inPancasila, Martha Beck used Alfred North Whitehead's process philosophy, CarlGustav Jung's archetypes psychology and Ervin Laszlo‟s systems theory. To approvethat Pancasila and Pillars of Islam has synergy to Indonesia‟s national education,Irawan used the concept of scientia sacra by Seyyed Hossein Nasr. The results showedthat the Indonesian national education system consistently present in a triangularrelationship between religion (spiritual humanism), politics (democracy) and cultural(multicultural and tolerance). The relationship manifested in Indonesian NationalEducation System, which is always grounded philosophically and aims at threethings; 1) form human who believe, cautious and has noble character; 2) master ofscience and technology; and 3) actively participate in creating order and peace in theworld, even a blessing for the entire universe. Indonesia's national education systemcould be a new alternative in building a more holistic education systems around theworld because considered crucial interconnection between science, religion, interestsof state and demands of the global. This is known as a moderate Islamic education.

Abstract

The primary purpose of this qualitative study is to identify and analyze supervision by implementing management quality to improve the quality of learning at Madrasah Aliyah Darul A’mal Metro, Lampung. The quality of management implementation is elaborated in the steps of assurance of learning quality. Two instruments, which consist of observation and questionnaire, were used in this study of which each instrument was analyzed based the deductive framework. The results of this study from each instrument revealed four steps of assurance of learning quality, among others (1) by socializing academic supervision program and its advantages to all stake holders, and (2) by implementing stages of assurance through academic supervision by the principals of Madrasah Aliyah Darul A’mal and supervisor, (3) performing supervision that is equipped with valid instrument to measure learning success, (4) performing the follow-up program by clinical and group discussion to provide appropriate model of performance.

Abstract

This study departed from a reality that in the middle to low quality and learning achievement of madrasas, Madrasah Aliyah I (MAN I) Yogyakarta is a madrassa that can compete with the top schools in general. This study aims to analyze the various advantages of the Madrasah Aliyah I (MAN I) Yogyakarta. The method used in this research is descriptive method with qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are personal interviews, observation, and various documents related to the study material. Based on the research results, we concluded that the school has many advantages over other schools, among them cultivate a good personality, excel in science, and excel in the field of life skills. This school was considered a success in realizing its vision primarily because it is supported by the commitment of the principal, the competence of the teachers and administrative staff. In addition, a lack of compatibility between the vision and mission of the school curricula, completeness educational facilities and learning activities.

Abstract

This paper intends to study the concept of character and moral education according to the terminology, approaches, and methods of learning from the point of view of Islamic education. The approach used in this paper is a discussion of the linguistic (al-lughah). The results showed that the conceptual basis of character education in the curriculum in Indonesia too much because it has a number of terminological problems. The concept of morals, values, and characters have a special meaning that may be different from one another. As a result, the concept of the character presented in the curriculum subject is far from the actual context of the moral and less with actually happening in the community. Character education is also too much use of the approach and methods indoctrinasi than critical, reflective and empirical and is not integrated with the system and school culture.

Abstract

This study was aimed at determining the role of city government in cultivating character values based on Sundanese culture local wisdom to develop students’ life skill; describing the process, and impact of character values education; investigating  both supporting  and inhibiting factors of character values education process in developing students' life skills. This study which applied case study was conducted at public and private madrasah aliyah in Bandung. The finding shows that the city government plays important role in developing the Sundanese culture-based character values by issuing a policy in the form of Regulation No. 9 of 2012 concerning the use and preservation of language, literature, and Sundanese script. Madrasah aliyah used learning and mentoring to implement character education program. Character education is supported by several factors and this study found some factors inhibiting character education process.

Abstract

The research mainly focuses on the comparative analysis towards the ideology and epistemology applied in Al Munawir Krapyak, Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Pasir Tumboh, Kelantan, Malaysia; both are pesantrens or traditional education institution-also called islamic boarding school. The study denotes that the curriculum utilized in al munawir pesantren is integrated Islam and science. While Pasir Tumboh employs the classical curriculum called kitab Jawi (Melayu). The epistemological base of curriculum of Al Munawir is Burhani-Irfani (demonstrative-gnostic) which in turn leads to transcendental contextual mindsets. It is rational religious ideology that modifies the methodology of Ahlussunnah Waljamaah emphasizing moderate and open-minded islamic teaching. On the other hand, the epistemological base of curriculum of Pasir Tumboh is Bayani-Irfani (explanative-gnostic) producing religious conservative ideology which is textual-trancendental, pseudo-exclusive and normative in observing the methods of ahlussunnah waljamaah.

Abstract

Muslim minority educational development was left behind to explore. The existing researches on the publication are only about Muslim majority. Therefore, it is a need to discover the existence of Muslim minority in the eastern part of Indonesia. This research was conducted in West Papua Province. In-dept interview and non-participant observation were conducted to collect data. Focus group discussion was circulated to ensure data triangulation. This study shows that environment neighborhood is one of the factors to consider in curriculum formation. Educational establishment is the breakthrough to fulfill the need of religious education. In addition, the standard to achieve is not only the national average but also there is vision to inaugurate social harmony and cultural situation. Finally, this article concludes that educational management board and teacher panel tried to perceive and hear the sound of milieu. This practice shows a progress of improvement and enhancement in improving relevant curriculum.

Abstract

This paper aims to searching theological impact when applied a science as a subject of learning at Agrotechnology Department in the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of State Islamic University of Bandung. The atmospheric experiment was implemented as a subject of learning. By observing the atmospheric data recorded, the plant growth measured significantly affected by the implementation of treatments, the best water supply and fertilizer application. Furthermore, it found that local climate has changed, and Schmidt and Ferguson classification of regional rain types is no more valid, thus, should be renewed. The experiment impacted to a science learning program in Islamic University. Climatic change is a natural law affected by human destructed to the nature. It has been affecting farmers to maintain for their plantation activities. When organisms were effort to surviving in warmer and unpredictable condition, that is shows to human kind has to obligatory to the Almighty God.

Abstract

The Relevance of student graduates with the job they achieved are very important. This condition meets both the the hopes and ambitions of students and parents. It goes without saying that this is one indicator of the success of education program. The study was aimed at determining the preparation of the government to implement the curriculum in 2013, investigating the strategy to build the relevance between education and work, scrutinizing students’ mindset concerning the relevance of education and work. This study used descriptive analysis which is qualitative approach in nature. The findings of this study show that the government has prepared the curriculum gradually in 2013, and the government has administered 9 years school program, some district-State has already applied the 12 years education program, as well as it has spent education funding by 20%, and it has opened the program Vocational High School (SMK). Students’ mindset graduated from SMK has shifted from job-seeking to job-creating because they have sufficient skill. The degree of relevance between what students learn and what the society need is dependent upon collaboration among all stakeholders.

Abstract

The leadership and the atmosphere in the working environment within the organization as a manager and leader of an organization have a very big role in creating a conducive and innovative working environment. Therefore, this study investigates leadership and working climate influencing on employee performance of Lampung Provincial Education Office. It uses a quantitative approach and descriptive survey method. Based on data analysis, the results are as follows: first, in general the results of data analysis showed that the leadership, the climate of employee and employee performance Education Office of Lampung Province is categorised as middle/enough, it means that the leadership, work climate and employee performance still need to be improved. Based on the results it can be argued that in order to improve the performance of employees can be done through visionary leadership, hard work, perseverance, steel service and discipline as well as to create a conducive working environment.
