Abstract

Having graduated from senior high school, most of high school students continue their education to university level. This research aimed to find effectiveness of career counseling by using career information-processing model to assist career decision-making for students of MAN Y Jakarta. The career information-processing model emphasizes the mind and memory in the process of problem solving and career decision-making (Henderson, 2009). This research used quasi-experiment one group pre-test post-test design involving 7 participants who previously experienced the obstacle in career decision-making. The career counseling intervention was implemented in 9 sessions. Based on paired sample t-test (t=8.576, p<.01), result showed that career counseling intervention was effective to assist career counseling for students of MAN Y Jakarta. Thus, intervention in this study could serve as a model of intervention to assist students in career decision-making.

Abstract

According psychology-philosophy perspective, various pattern in education caused by different view about human being.. Abdurrahman an-Nahlawi stated that how human view about themselves will give strong effect toward education system.[1]. If human is viewed as creature with an evil talent, then education means as an effort to supress those evil factors.[1] On the other hands, if human is viewed as an active creature with potential, interest, and good basic competency, education means drawing out process in which taken out everything the children have not pouring in like water jar.

Abstract

Violent behaviors conducted by children were unimaginable by our mind that we have set our mind that children are group of people who still innocent, and the hope for our future. Violence—in our mind—is perhaps the trait that labeled to some thugs, robbers, and many criminals whose world are full of violence they lived in. What is happening with our society and our children? Violence conducted by children can be seen as social behavior disturbance since there are violations to the moral values and humanity, family and society normative rules. Violent behavior—verbal and non verbal—including bad attitudes and behaviors that disturb many our environment are violation to what we call as society norms and laws. Children who conducted violent behavior were not a result of instant process but a cumulative result of many aspects they have seen, heard and felt in daily life. Aggression and anti social behavior are a learned behavior which means that children learned it from imitation process from something and someone who they meet, see, heard and copied.

Abstract

This paper intended to give a conceptual framework in order to prevent adolescent from drug abuse by using a developmental approach. Search for identity is one aspect of psychosocial development which very crucial in periods of adolescence and most developmentalist which agree that healthy or unhealthy personality developmental be attributable to the process of search for identity. Most developmentalist have a belief that adolescents achieve a sense of identity tend to demonstrate a healthy and constructive behavior, while failing achieve becoming vulnerable to  various forms of psychosocial disturbance, one of which drug abuse. Therefor, to prevent teenagers from drug abuse we can do with helping them to achieve a sense of identity.

Abstract

A significant correlation was found, between the enabling parental style to exploration in the domain of religion identity status; between the anabling parental style to commitment, and between the constraining parental style to exploration. No relationship was found between the constraining parental style and commitment in the domain of religious identity status. Suggestion for further research would be to identity other variables connected with identity status in the religion domain.

Abstract

This research aims to empirically study about correlation between loneliness and self-concept of students from Bangka who stay in Bandung. Sample are 60 students taken through purposive sampling from 280 population. Result shows that there is significant correlation between loneliness and self concept with cooficient correlation -0,379 and significancy level (0,019). It is concluded that student having high loneliness will have low self-concept whereas those who have low loneliness their self-concept become positive.

Abstract

Today, education face many kind of problems that indicate student maladjustment behavior. All sorts of students maladjustment behavior stretch from the lower level to the higher level. For example; cut class, engage in the gang fight, hold-up, free sex and consume the narcotics. Counseling is the process of connection between counselor and counselee that help the counselee solve the problem to find the behavior that conform the rule of the society. Albert Ellis sparked the theory of rational emotive therapy that give the assumption that human had brought the potential to think rationally, honest, and think irrationally and bad. Human has two tendencies, they are positive and negative tendencies.The rational emotive therapy using ABCD analysis can help the counselor to understand the client’s problem holistically.

Abstract

This research aims to study the difference of hedonic consumption among syiah kuala university students in term of gender and faculties. The technique sampling used were purposive and quota sampling with 360 students consisted of 180 male and 180 female from 12 faculties. The data were collected using hedonic consumption scale constructed by researcher based on Hirschman and Holbrook theory (1982). Coefisien reliability of this research was (α)= 0,873. Hypothesis was tested by using Independent Sample T-Test which showed significance value 0,000 (p<0,05) and One Way Anova which showed significance value 0,000 (p<0,05). Result shows that there was different hedonic consumption between male and female students of Unsyiah in which female indicated higher hedonic consumption than male student. Besides,  students of dentistry faculty indicated higher hedonic consumption than the other faculties.

Abstract

Anxiety about English is still felt in the learner at the college level, especially in dealing with reading sources in English. This study aims to see how individual factors (self-efficacy, belief, and motivation) effect the anxiety experienced by students in learning English. Research design use correlational research involving 100 students at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung from psychology faculty and  faculty of education and teacher training. Sampling technique is using stratified random sampling. There are four instruments used which are Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale, Children’s Self-efficacy Scale, The Beliefs about Language Learning Inventory (BALLI) and motivation in learning english instrument. Data is analysed using statistic analysis of multiple regression. Results show that this each following variables which are self-efficacy, belief, and motivation has significant correlation with anxiety in learning English. Besides, there is also significant correlation between self-efficacy, belief,  motivation and anxiety in learning English.

Abstract

This research based on phenomena of students council in which teamwork is really needed to get the organization goal. Before having teamwork, individu must have commitment to organization and level of commitment is assumed correlated with personality types. Eysenck (1974) defined personality as a result of interaction between inherited factors and surrounding. According to Porter (Schultz, 1982: 4), commitment on organization is individual attitude having trust and acceptance to the goal and values of organization. This research used correlational methodology. Result found  χ2hitung is 5.013 which is compared to χ2tabel 3.84 (Siegel, 1997: 301). Since χ2hitung = 5.013 is  more than χ2tabel 3.84 on significant level 0,05, then Ho is not accepted. Therefore, it is concluded that there is correlation between personality type and organizational commitment.
