Profesi Pendidikan Dasar (PPD) is an open-accessed and peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Department of Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD), Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, in collaboration with Himpunan Dosen PGSD Indonesia (HDPGSDI). PPD focuses on elementary/primary education from an excellent perspective. PPD aims to be a media of communication, information, and discussion of elementary education such as instruction, curriculum, management, guidance and counseling, psychology, and teacher training.

<![CDATA[This study aims to describe the evaluation questions, find out the form of the questions and show HOTS questions in the Thematic book with indicators analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5) and creating (C6) the questions in the thematic books. This study includes a qualitative approach with the subject of evaluation questions on the Thematic student book subtheme character explorer space. Content content analysis is an analysis technique used in research. The results of the analysis of HOTS questions on the book class VI students of the space explorer sub-theme that there are 120 items with 63 items are questions with the cognitive realm of higher order thinking or Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). 57 items are questions with the cognitive realm of low thinking or Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS).]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of a scientific approach on improving students' critical thinking skills in various educational units. The research method used is a systematic review of research results available in the Indonesia One Search portal by analyzing qualitative research from each. From the results of the search for scientific publications, 33 scientific articles were obtained which were screened with inclusion and exclusion criteria obtained 5 articles. The results of this study revealed that (1) the scientific approach had a positive and significant influence on students' critical thinking skills in various educational units starting from elementary to high school. (2) the application of a scientific approach, especially in natural science learning (Physics, Biology, Chemistry) can improve students' critical thinking skills because the scientific approach has a strong and significant relationship with critical thinking skills. This systematic review research has implications in science learning based on a scientific approach in developing innovative learning models related to the empowerment of higher order thinking skills that include critical thinking, creative thinking, and problem solving.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this research is to develop a module based on problem based learning. This research was conducted at SDN Pegadingan 1 in the 5th grade Natural Sciences subject of heat transfer material contained in basic competencies 3.6. The method used in this research is a research and development method using research and development steps according to Sugiyono. Based on the feasibility test that has been conducted by a team of material experts, design experts, and education experts, an overall average score of 89.06% was obtained which included in the "Very Feasible" interpretation criteria, the average score of the material expert team's worth 89.20% which is included in the "Very Feasible" interpretation criteria, the design expert team's score was 79.48% which was included in the "Feasible" interpretation criteria, and the average score of education expert eligibility was 98.50% which was included in the "Very Feasible" interpretation criteria.]]>

<![CDATA[The research objective is to describe the appropriateness of the Assessment Book (Bupena) based on the content, presentation, language, graphics, and moral values contained therein. Bupena is one of the textbooks used by the Surakarta 16 Muhammadiyah Primary School. This research method is a descriptive qualitative method, which produces descriptive data in the form of written words. The research design is book analysis with data analysis techniques in the form of data collection, data recording, data reduction, drawing conclusions, and describing. The validity used is semantic validity. Based on the results of the analysis of the feasibility of the contents or content of the book Bupena presents material that is easy to understand in accordance with the development of students' age, the presentation of books that address the material contextually, the graphics of books that place the illustrations as well-organized explanations, Bupena books included in the category of proper use. The language used in the book is still found errors like mistakes in writing vocabulary. As well as the lack of moral values contained in the book, make a bhasa assessment and the moral values in the Bupena book are inadequate and need improvement.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study is to investigate student interest in learning the electronic module ethnoconstructivism in several elementary schools. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The results of the research carried out at Muara Bulian Elementary School No. 13 / I with the highest frequency 31 with a percentage of 54.4% included in the Good category. Whereas in SD Negeri No. 80 / I Muara Bulian with the most frequency 31 with a percentage of 49.2% included in the category of Very Good. Based on these results a T test was performed with a Sig. (2-Tailed) value of 0.683 0.05, so there were no significant comparisons or differences in the learning interests of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 13 / I Muara Bulian with students at SD Negeri No. 80 / I Muara Bulian.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to develop mathematical teaching materials on the subject of multiplication and find out their feasibility and practicality. This research is based on the lack of students' understanding of multiplication material and the lack of references other than worksheets or textbooks used by teachers. The renewal of this teaching material is the presence of a QR code in each chapter that can connect students to videos created by researchers and uploaded on YouTube. This study uses the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluate). Based on the five stages, the development of You-MathBook teaching materials resulted in a percentage of eligibility from three validators of 90.9%, a practical percentage of 84.1% and effectiveness calculated with a Gain Test of 0.35 indicating an increase in student learning outcomes in the 'medium' category. Based on these results You-MathBook teaching materials are declared feasible, practical and effective to increase understanding of the concept of multiplication in fifth (V) grade students of Darul Huda Islamic Elementary School in Semarang.]]>

<![CDATA[The aims of this research to explains the effectiveness of increasing students' mathematical connection abilities that obtain problem-based learning, project-based learning literacy and inquiry learning. The students' connection in the mathematics of elementary school was very low. It was because students have not been facilitated to develop mathematical connection skills correctly. This research was in the form of a quasi-experimental design of The Randomized Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Based on the results, Problem-based learning was the most effective model compared to other learning models in facilitating mathematical connection skills. It was because problem-based learning can present problems in the context of learning that requires high-level thinking. Thus training students to always connect mathematical concepts with daily context problems. Project-based learning literacy was very effective and better than inquiry in facilitating connection skills. It was because students create literacy works that connect mathematical concepts and daily context applications. However, students were less facilitated in practising mathematical concepts. Furthermore, inquiry learning was good enough in facilitating students' connection skills. However, students have not been allowed to use mathematical concepts in the context of everyday life. Students were only facilitated to find concepts, so students have not been facilitated to develop mathematical connection skills.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims were to describe: 1) pedagogical competencies mastery of student in Elementary School Teacher Education Department; 2) obstacles of pedagogical competencies faced by informant; 3) effort conducted by the informant to overcome the obstacles of pedagogical competencies. This is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. Data collection techniques used were observation, structured interviews and documentation. The results showed that 1) prospective teachers were able to master seven pedagogical of ten competencies, so the informant require to improve three other aspects, that are: curriculum development; implementation of educated learning; and effectively, empathically, and politely communication with students; 2) obstacles faced by informant are they haven’t mastered content material well; lack of creativity in media development; and they haven’t mastered classical management well; 3) efforts that required by the informant are by increasing knowledge about learning materials by finding references from various sources, increasing creativity in media development, and being able to be assertive and be able to reprimand students.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to develop a Serli Practicum Module (Discovery Learning) for Science learning in Class VI Elementary Schools that has met valid, practical, and effective criteria for use in Science learning in elementary schools. This type of research is research and development that uses the Peffers et al development model. The type of development research includes six phases, namely: (1) identifying problems that motivate research, (2) describing research objectives, (3) designing and developing products, (4) testing products, (5) evaluating trial results, and (6) ) communicating results. The results of the study show that the Serli Practicum Module (Discovery Learning) for Science learning in Class VI Elementary School has been valid, practical and effective. Validity values obtained are 61 with very valid criteria. Practical value of 65.73 or very practical. And the acquisition of effectiveness value is 0.70 with effective criteria.]]>
