Given that thereare many factors that influence teachercreativity as a manifestation of thesuccess of the TPET, in themanagement of education and training, one ofthe determiningfactors needs to be chosen; which in this study is limitedto theinternal factors of the teacher in question, namely: (1)independence, (2) teacher's understanding and (3) teacherdiscipline after theTPET. The next problem, among others:independence, Teacher's understanding and (3) discipline, whichfactors determine the effectiveness ofTPETin increasing teachercreativity? Data was collected with a rating scale that has beentested valid and reliable.TPETis effective in shaping teachercreativity. Both variables: understanding and independence areexcluded from this model.

Abstract

The current study concerns learning strategy and its relation to interlanguage  errors as Selinker believes that interlanguage errors are the result of cognitive mechanism or learning strategy used by second language learner. This specifically tries to describe the learning strategy used by the learners which result in interlanguage errors. The data are in the form of sentences containing errors taken from students? compositions. The technique used to collect the data is elicitation and documentation. The data were analyzed qualitatively. The result of the research indicates that there are three major types of learning strategy used by the learners, namely: overgeneralization, first language transfer, and simplification and the dominant learning strategy is overgeneralization. This implies that the students have relied more on their linguistic knowledge on the target language (English) rather than on that of their first language. The pedagogical implication is that English teachers should have positive attitude on interlanguage errors since errors are inevitable process in foreign language learning. They must also provide appropriate training so that students are aware the differences between English and Indonesian. Such an understanding may help them eliminate the interlanguage errors and develop their interlanguage system.

Abstract

Multidisciplinary study is often conducted to investigate emotions. Research on emotions focuses on the situation, behavior and beliefs that underlie the emergence of emotion, and not on the emotion itself. Research on emotion not only examine the types of emotions alone but is associated with the situation, behaviors, and beliefs. It is inseparable from emotion regulation system that is owned by someone. Gross & Thompson and Kalat & Shiota state that emotion regulation may serve as a coping strategy to face psychological distress. Prihartanti?s research shows that in Javanese culture (Suryomentaram concept), a healthy person must be a able to adapt to the environment with introspective methods. Theoretically, the introspective method is similar to the concept of emotion regulation version of western culture. Therefore, this study intends to study the difference between the two concepts. The research method used is a comparative study using two approaches, namely qualitative and quantitative. A qualitative approach was conducted in the first year with the aim of acquiring data directly from the field then compiled into a gauge or scale. Quantitative approaches were used to examine differences between the introspective emotion regulation. Result shows that there are differences and similarities between the concepts of introspection in Suryomentaram with emotion regulation. The similarity lies on the ultimate goal, role and function, cognitive approaches and generalizations, while the difference lies in the step or process.

The technique for analyzing data is error analysis. The results show that there are 253 utterances containing 428 speech errors which are derived from 9 types of speech errors based on Clark and Eve, Gleason and Ratner, and Poulisse theory. The distribution of each type of error is started by 143 filled pauses (33.41%). The number of speech errors comprises of 121 repeats (29.88%), 49 slips of the tongue (12.10%), 39 retraced false starts (9.63%), 18 corrections (4.44%), 18 unretraced false starts (4.44%), 17 interjections (4.20%), 12 silent pauses (2.96%), and 11 stutters (2.72%). Abstract

TOEFL is one of the tests used to measure a person's level of English with three forms of tests, namely (1) listening comprehension, (2) structure and written expression, and (3) reading comprehension. In addition to being used as a requirement when applying for a job, the test is also used by students for the purpose of college or as a condition for graduation. However, there are several universities that do not carry out these tests, one of which is Kaltara University. This study aims to describe kinds of  TOEFL tests which are able to work by Kaltara University students. The research method used is qualitative. This study uses data collection techniques, namely: (1) observation, (2) interviews, and (3) document analysis. The data analysis techniques used are Miles and Huberman Models. The results of this study indicate that (1) the hardest test done by the students is listening, meanwhile the easiest test done is structure and written expression; and (2) the ability of Kaltara University students had an average TOEFL score, 460 which was categorized as a minimum standard. Therefore, there needs to be an increase in TOEFL scores for Kaltara University students.
