Abstract

This research used experimental approach which aims to test effectiveness of synectics in developing creative thinking using variables of creative attitude as covariance. The subjects were 48 students of seventh grade of MTs Surya Buana who was divided evenly into experiment and control group. The data was gained through a test of creative thinking and creative attitude scale. Results indicated that synectics proved effective in developing creative thinking. Keywords: synectics, creative thinking, creative attitude

Abstract

Biological, psychological, social, and spiritual impacts of cancer can cause the emergence of negative emotions and affect patient's self-acceptance. Forgiveness therapy is expected to enhance patient's acceptance by releasing them from the negative emotional prison, changing attitudes toward self, others, and/or the situation become more positive, and setting new life goals. This study examined the effect of forgiveness therapy to increase forgiveness and self-acceptance of breast cancer patients. Therapy was given as much as 6 sessions, conducted once a week, for about 80 minutes. Participant was a women who had a breast cancer, had an average score of forgiveness and self-acceptance on the baseline phase measurement. Research design wasA-B-A single-case experimental studies with 3 times forgiveness's measurement, each before intervention, after intervention, and follow-up 2 weeks after intervention. Self-acceptance's measurement was conducted 10 times, 3 times in the baseline phase (before intervention), 6 times in the intervention phase (end of each session), 1 time in reversal phase (follow-up 2 weeks after intervention), with 1 week measurement interval. Hypothesis was tested by using visual inspection and qualitative analysis based on documents during the process of therapy and follow-up interview. The results showed that forgiveness therapy could improve participant's forgiveness and self-acceptance. Changes in both dependent variable remained stable at follow-up. The limitations of this study were further discussed.Keywords: forgiveness, self-acceptance, breast cancer patients

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of involvement in arranging key performance indicator to decrease of resistance to change level towards performance target for management trainee in University X. The subject of this research is management trainee consisting of experiment group and control group. The experiment group comprised of 16 people while the control group consisted of 8 people. The subjects of this research have at least master degree, work contract, and medium to high level of resistance to change fortarget performance. The research design used pretest posttest control group design. The data collection is conducted using scale of resistance to change for taget performance. The finding of this research indicated that the involvement in arranging key performance indicator is effective in decreasing the resistance to change level towards performance target for management trainee in University X.Key words: resistance to change, involvement, key performance indicator

Abstract

Yogyakarta's earthquake survivors oñen show depression symptoms. This study is aimed to recognize the effectiveness of emotional management training on mitigating depressed adolescents of Yogyakarta's earthquake survivors. Twenty participants enrolled within, which are categorized into experiment and control group. The participant's characteristics were: second year in junior high school, survivors of Yogyakarta's earthquake, age ranging from 13 to 15. The hypotheses sugaest that emotional management training is effective to decrease depression among adolescents of Yogyakarta's earthquake victim. Beck Depression Inventory was conducted before, after, and at the follow-up to measure depression. Result shows that emotional management training is effective in decreasing depression among adolescents of Yogyakarta's earthquake survivors. Qualitative analysis found that individuals which shows higher hate of declining depression score have different emotion management process compared to the lower. It suggested to next research to focus continously to improve the effectiveness of the training.Keywords: Yogyakarta's earthquake survivors, Emotion Management Training, Depression

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of psychological well-being in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus using group positive psychotherapy. Subjects in this study were 12 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (men and women) between the ages of 47-64 years, and divided into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. This study uses a scale of psychological well-being (22-item), which refers to the dimensions of psychological well-being by Ryff (1989). Quantitative data analysis using parametric analysis techniques one-way repeated measures anova to see the differences in psychological well-being of the experimental group after the subject therapy. The results show that there are differences in psychological well-being in the experimental group after therapy, with a value of Wilks' Lambda = 0.153, p = 0.00 (p <0.01). The conclusion from this study that the group positive psychotherapy can improve psychological well-being of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Key words: Group Positive Psychotherapy, Psychological Well Being, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

This study was aimed to study the influence of service training can improve the knowledge, service quality, and the library user satisfaction. This study was conducted at state university libraries. This study was conducted by administrating quasi-experimentation towards two library groups. The experiment group (18 subjects) was given service training and measured before and after the training. The controlled group (20 subjects) was measured without training. The service training will be given at the end of this research process. The measurement of the knowledge on service to the librarian and the employees were arranged according to the material of service training, white the library user satisfaction was conducted to the experiment group (30 respondents) and the controlled group (29 respondents), The result of the mixed-anova analysis shows that (1) there is an intercorrelation between knowledge on service variable and observed group with F = 51,521 and p < 0.01. (2) there is an intercorrelation between variable service quality and observed group with F = 40,776 and p < 0.01, whereas in user satisfaction there is an intercorrelation between user satisfaction variable and observed group with F = 40,776 andp < 0.01.Keywords: Service Training, service quality, librarian.

Abstract

Low communication skills in children with autism are caused by obstruction of their receptive language skills. To Increase receptive language skill, can be done by the compic method. The goal of this research is to demonstrate the effectiveness of compic method in increasing receptive language skills in autistic child. This research used single case study with one subject, where the A-B-A model research design applied. Participants in this research is a boy aged 7 years and 5 months and diagnosed with autism. This research shows that the compic method could increase reseptive language in identifying nouns and objects. Factors that support the effectiveness of the intervention are subjects that is relatively still young, support form the teacher who understand the children's condition and needs, the school's system that facilitate the development of of the subjects ability, and the intensity of the intervention. Keywords: autis, receptive language, compic

Abstract

This research is aimed to seek for whether relaxation that consists of respiratory relaxation, guide imagery, and hypnosis can decrease stress level and blood pressure on hypertension patients. Subjects in this research are hypertension patients that has blood pressure of 130/80 mmHg or above, lives in in the area of Medical Clinic X of District Sleman, Yogyakarta. Subjects in this research are 28 subjects which are divided into two groups which are 15 subjects in the experiment group and 13 in the control group. Data was obtained by utilizing stress scale. The design of the research is a between group design pretest posttest control group design. Data analysis utilized in this research is t-test. This research indicates that relaxation has been proven to decrease stress level and blood pressure of hypertension patients. Keywords: relaxation, stress, blood pressure, and hypertension.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pelatihan kebersyukuran dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup (kualitas hidup terkait kesehatan) pada pasien dengan Penyakit Paru Obstruktif Kronik (PPOK) di UPKPM Unit Kalasan. Responden dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas 12 pasien PPOK. Data diperoleh melalui kuesioner The St George Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ). Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuasi eksperimen ipretest-posttest control group design). Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini adalah terdapat perbedaan kualitas hidup antara kedua kelompok (eksperimen dan kontrol) setelah dilakukan pelatihan kebersyukuran. Pelatihan kebersyukuran dapat meningkatkan skor kualitas hidup kelompok ekperimen. Pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji Mann Whitney dan ditemukan hasil bahwa hipotesis dalam penelitian ini diterima. Hal tersebut berarti bahwa terdapat perbedaan kualitas hidup di antara kedua kelompok tersebut baik pada pra- pascates maupun pra-tindak lanjut Pelatihan kebersyukuran dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien PPOK setelah dilakukan pelatihan hingga pada tahap tindak lanjut (dua minggu setelah pelatihan berakhir). Kata Kunci: pelatihan kebersyukuran, kualitas hidup, Penyakit Paru Obstruktif Kronik (PPOK)

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of goal setting training on students' motivation to learn Arabic. Participants were 26 students of class XI of SMA "X" Yogyakarta. They were grouping into 13 students as the experimental group and 13 students as a control group with pre-post control group design. Data were collected with Arabic learning motivation scale, interviews and observations. Result showed that both pretest-posttest (Z = -4359, P = 0.000, P <0.05) and pretest-follow up score on motivation to learn Arabic improve after treatment (Z = -2500, P = 0.012, P <0.05). Therefore goal setting training could enhance Arabic learning motivation. Keywords: Goal Setting Training, Arabic Learning Motivation, High School Student
