Abstract

The purpose of this research was to empirically examine the effect of assertiveness training on the students interpersonal communication skills. The research design was pretes postest control group design. The subject determination into experimental group and control group. Interpersonal communication skills is measured by using scale interpersonal communication skills based on interpersonal communication aspects of DeVito (2011). Data analysis on this research was mixed design anova. The result of this research revealed the existance of interaction between time (pretest and posttest) and group (experimental and control) that was stated by F = 41,786; P = 0,000. The result showed that control group and experimental group was different. In this research, the asertiveness training treatment contribution toward the increasing of interpersonal communication skills is 79,1%. Key words: Asertiveness training, Interpersonal communication skill, Vocational high school.

Abstract

Organizational change causes various reactions toward organizational members, include emotional reaction- The aim of this research is to improve the emotional management ability on organizational members that get into organizational change through emotional coaching method. Participants in this research were three employees that get organizational change. The experiment design used Small n Experiment with ABA design. Research participants followed the designed meeting schedule for a month. The intervention effectiveness measured by Resistance to Change Scale (Oreg, 2003). The results showed that emotional coaching significantly able to improve employee emotional management ability toward organizational change.Keywords:   emotional coaching, emotional management, organizational change

Abstract

This study has purposed to know about effect zikr therapy for psychological well-being (PWB) in elderly. Researcher take data in elderly community “Griya Sanggar Asri” at Purwomartani, Kalasan, Sleman. The participants consist of 9 elderly and classified into two groups : the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group was given the zikr therapy while the control group did not get the treatment, but stand as a waiting list. The effectiveness of the interventions was evaluated by using a quasi experimental design with pretest analysis consist of posttest and follow up. Before administrating the therapy both of the two group was given RPWBS (ryff’s psychological well-being scale). The data from the two groups were analyzed using U Mann Whitney Test. The result of this study was gathered from the pre test and post test that have the value of Z = 0,369 and p = 0,730 (p > 0,05) this show that there is no different in the level of psychological well-being between experimental group and the control group. Based on this result it can be concluded that the zikr therapy has no significant effect in psychological well-being, this is caused by interference in internal and external validity that can’t be controlled by the researcher like diffusion and history. Keyword : zikr therapy, psychological well-being well-being (PWB), elderly.

Abstract

This research goals is to know whether problem solving skill training (PSST) can be effective to decrease conduct problem to a child with conduct disorder. Problem solving skill training is a form of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which PSST is a cognitive therapy that will be combined with behavior therapy token economy. Data collected method is interview, observation and CBCL. Data analysis method is qualitative analyzing. Result indicates that subject's conduct disorder behavior is decreased. Subject seldom fight or hit and used weapon that can cause physical harm to others. He seldom lying, never stealing and his compliance is increased too. This condition shows problem solving skill training can be used as therapy to decrease conduct problem to children with conduct disorder.Key Words: Conduct Disorder, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Problem Solving Skill Training.

Abstract

This research was carried out to obtain an intervention program design by using Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) principles which could decrease sibling rivalry in adolescent who has younger sibling with intellectual disability.This research involved two pairs of mother and child (adolescent) who were sampled through use of purposive sampling and tried out by using quasi experimental method with A-B-A design. The data were obtained through interviews, observation, and questionnaire. The measurement tools were Sibling Rivalry questionnaire and Dyadic Parent-Child Interaction Coding System III (DPICS-III). There was decline in sibling rivalry and increase in mother’s ability to apply PCIT skills. Meanwhile the qualitative data showed that PCIT skills mastered and applied by the mothers in daily basis parenting made the children to feel respected and could decrease jealousy, anger, and rivalry feeling with their siblings.Keywords: Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Sibling Rivalry, Sibling Relationship, Adolescent,Intellectual Disability.

Abstract

Academic anxiety is often experienced by each individual. One of the methods used in lowering academic anxiety is to listen murottal Quran. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of listening murottal Quran in reducing anxiety in students. Respondents were selected using random sampling techniques using the design of experiment one group pretest-posttest. The subject of this research were 21 students of the faculty of Psychology University of Makassar class of 2015. This study uses academic anxiety scale of Isthifha (2011). The results of this study showed that listening to the Quran murottal effective in reducing anxiety in a student's academic. This study provides a new alternative to students who often have academic anxiety by listening murottal Quran.Keywords: Murottal Quran; Academic Anxiety; Students

Abstract

Every child expects a harmonious family, but in reality, many conflicts occur so some family must end up in divorce. The impact of the divorce is the emergence of various negative emotions in children. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of forgiveness therapy in improving subjective well-being, happiness, and hardiness of students whose parents are divorced. The method on this study were quasi experiments that used the training intervention of forgiveness. Subjects consisted of 12 female of undergraduate students consisting of 6 subjects of the experimental group and 6 subjects of the control group with the criteria of having parents who have divorced. The hypothesis proposed is that there is an influence of forgiveness in improving subjective wellbeing, happiness, and hardiness. Analysis was use non-parametric Mann U-Whitney. The results conclude that the hypothesis is rejected. The dynamics that occur will be reviewed in the discussion.Keywords: Forgiveness, Subjective Wellbeing, Happiness, Hardiness, Divorced Parents

Abstract

This research is aiming for influence of interpersonal communication training to improve the cohesiveness of the group of employees. Subjects in this study were 22 employees of Hotel X of Yogyakarta, which is divided into 11 experimental groups of employees and 11 employees of the control group. Data collection is use cohesiveness scale, interviews, and observations. The research design was pretest-posttest control group design. Analysis of the study is a quantitative and qualitative analysis. Quantitative analysis using U-Mann Whitney to determine the effect of interpersonal communication training to the employee group cohesiveness. Qualitative analysis is based on observations and interviews. The results showed that there were significant differences in group cohesiveness in employees between the experimental group and the control group with significant value of 0.002 (p <0.005). It is concluded that interpersonal communicationtraining can enhance group cohesiveness in employees Hotel X Yogyakarta.Keywords: Interpersonal Communication Training, Cohesiveness group, Employee

Abstract

The study examined the effectiveness of emotion regulation training to improve schizophrenia familycaregiver’s resilience. This study usepre-post test control group design. The intervention consist 3 class sessions for two weeks and the duration of every session runs between 150- 180 minutes each. The participants were 10 schizophrenia caregivers from two desa in Moyudan Sleman. They were men and women aged between 39-57 years old, and classified into two groups. One group (n=5) received emotion regulation training as experimental group and the other (n=5) as controlled group (waiting list). Participant were assed using Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) before intervention (pre-tes,) after intervention (post-test,) and two weeks after intervention (follow-up). T-test analysis toward the gained score shows difference between the experimental group and controlled group. The experimental group shows significant improvement while the control group show less obvious improvement. The result concluded that emotion regulation training was significantly effective to improve resilience of schizophrenia familycaregiver.Key word: resilience, emotion regulation, schizophrenia family caregiver

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of therapy of remembrance to improve the psychological wellbeing in patients with hypertension.The hypothesis of the study were there is difference in psychological well-being between the experimental group and control group. The subject involved in this study were 18 patients who experienced hypertension as well as having medium and low psychological well-being which divided into 2 groups: 9 people into experimental group and 9 people into control group. The experimental group was get the therapy of remembrance while the control group in the waiting list. The results of the data analysis with Mann Whitney shows that there are significant differences in psychological well-being between the experimental group and the control group, with the value of z= -3.587 (p<0.000). The group that get the therapy of remembrance experience an increase in psychological well-being which it possesses as compared with the control group. Keywords: Therapy of remembrance, psychological well-being, patient with hypertension
